QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) I think all the Bulls previous Free Agency failures have made me weary. When we signed Ben Wallace, I thought we were on our way. Obviously that is not even in the same galaxy as signing Lebron. But what if we strike out? What if we end up with David Lee or something? There's no way the Bulls strike out. Stop being paranoid. Their combination of talent, cash, and market is well above any of the other teams. It really is the perfect situation to come into. It can't get any better. It's a question of which one(s) sign not if any sign.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Anybody catch John Jaso leading off for Tampa tonight? Joe Maddon has been receiving quite a bit of criticism for some of his lineups of late. Soxtalk would be ready to decapitate Ozzie were he ever to bat a no-name catcher leadoff. I'd applaud Ozzie. Jaso's 25:15 BB:K (.409 OBP) is pretty impressive. Considering Upton and Bartlett are giving the team nothing, this is a pretty logical move, imo. It's not like this is Corky Miller. Jaso is just 26 years old, a rookie, and has some pretty good minor league numbers.

I'd fire both of them and let Hahn choose his own manager. Both of KW's and Ozzie's acts are very tired to me. The arrogance within this organization is nauseating. It might be nice to actually have the team get most of the headlines, good or bad, instead of KW's and Ozzie's mouths.

Do not trade the one exciting offensive player on this team in Rios.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) Agreed 100%. No one loves Konerko more than me, but this is a business and unless he is willing to sign something like a 3 year 21 million dollar contract, he's not worth bringing back. And even if we do trade him, that doesn't rule out bringing him back in the offseason as a FA. But we gotta do whatever is best for the club. And the same goes for Buehrle to. 3 years for Konerko? Hell no.

Aramis needs to start hitting. They can't win it without him. He's been the worst regular in MLB thusfar.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Maybe Rios as well as picking up half his remaining contract would be a good start. Or Beckham +. Ehh. A lot of people believe Wallace to be very much overrated. I see a lot of Adam LaRoche type comparisons. He was a much better prospect when he was a 3B where his bat would play well above average. Now at 1B, not so much.

QUOTE (WCSox @ May 23, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) It would make sense for Kenny to hold onto Bobby until late July. He's most likely going to improve at least somewhat by then, and that would increase Kenny's chances of getting an average (vs. a throw-away) prospect in return. That said, I absolutely agree that dealing Bobby is going to overwhelmingly be a salary-dump. I agree that would be the case if we were dealing with a secure asset, but we're not. Bobby's a ticking time bomb in my eyes, and it's only a matter of time before his calf injury crops back up or something new all together. Given his injury history, lack of performance, and salary, the risk of holding out for the best deal is way too high when you aren't likely to get anything worthwhile anyways. I'd jump at the first offer consisting of a halfway interesting prospect and little to no salary absorption.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) Elvis Andrus. Plus defender from day 1. Ehh...When he turned 20 he was in the mist of a season in which he committed 32 errors, so I wouldn't say he was refined at that moment.
-
I don't think you'll find many, if any, recently-turned 20 year olds that are refined Major League defenders.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Really? That would be an odd scenario. Could see it happening, just surprising and odd. Very odd indeed. I don't think there's a chance that happens.

32 games is a very long time to look absolutely horrible.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) I'd seriously make chicks sign Letters of Consent with an attorney present if I were a celebrity/well-known person before I banged them. Another money grab. The girl was 15. How much you think she's after? $200? -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) Hate to admit it. But Castro looks like a player. Pretty impressive what he's accomplished over the past year as a 19-20 year old in the Fall League, ST, and now AA. Kid's hit like .380 over that span. All the meanwhile, developing physically (+20 lbs). Talk about prospect development. Almost too good to be true.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) I was looking at the wrong year. My bad. I still gave Lester a glowing 2010 total. The Romero and Billingsley stats aren't THAT "friendly." Both totals are very possible; and yes, Billingsley has been better than Lester in the recent past. Outside of the fact I think there's no chance Romero reaches 16 wins, yes those lines are possible. But it's also possible each go 12 wins, 4.00 ERA, 170 K (which would be improvements over their 2009 seasons). Lester's a sure bet for 15 wins, 3.50 ERA, 200 K. I like Billingsley a lot too, but you gotta take the surefire ace, imo.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Tis true but in making this trade, it let me drop Franklin Morales and another DL let me pick up Wade Davis and Jeff Neimann so they will more than make up for it Tis not true. His projections for Romero and Billingsley are very friendly. Lester wasn't injured last season. He was dominant: 15-8, 3.41 ERA, 225 K. I like the trade a lot.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) In 06 he definitely sucked it up, but in 05 he was 33 for 35 in saves, and in 07 he was 28 for 31. I don't know if I would call that a failure. He was 3-16, with ERAs and WHIPs of 4.80/1.51 and 4.72/1.34 in his last 2 seasons as a RP. That's pretty awful to me.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) He has a 4.48 career ERA as a starter and a 4.11 career ERA as a Reliever. He has a .686 OPS against him as a reliever and .767 against him as a starter. It's always good to make moves today based on things that happened 5-10 years ago.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) Why would you move guys who have been good at going 6+ innings to the pen for the good of the team? The point of moving Zambrano is to motivate him, get him back on track, improve the bullpen, and, in the very, very short-term, improve the rotation. Moving Wells or Dempster to the bullpen would be like moving Danks to the bullpen. Not to mention Dempster has already failed as a RP, and Zambrano is the only SP with reliever stuff.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Of the choices, it's best not to relegate your first or second-best pitcher to a part-time role. It's like a national league team relegating their number 3 hitter to the bench because they were struggling in pinch-hit situations. No it's not. The bullpen is slightly more influential than pinch hitting. The Cubs pen has already cost them a number of games/opportunities. There would be no point in moving a SP to the pen who couldn't be a good RP. Add to it that Zambrano has completely sucked in the rotation and everyone else has been great makes it that more obvious. This situation is funny to me, and a complete f***-up by Hendry, but this absolutely the correct move, imo.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) This is such a short-sighted move by the Cubs. Do they really buy into Silva's start so far, with the fact he's faced the Astros and Reds? As a Cubs hater, I love this move. I also think this signifies the beginning of the end of the Zambrano era in Chicago. Watch him get traded for Javy Vazquez. It's probably not be a long-term move anyways. Zambrano can be dominant reliever. Silva can not be. Of the choices, moving Zambrano was the correct one until Silva starts sucking again or Hendry can acquire some relief help.
