  1. The Indians gameplan: Get Kotsay involved as much as possible!
  2. Lets flip the lineup next game... Teahen Ramirez Pierzynski Rios Kotsay Konerko Quentin Beckham Pierre
  3. I'd take Aardsma in a heartbeat. He's nasty. Similar career path to Thornton.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) So he had a 1.17 spring ERA on March 17th. Couple of rough outings and it's time to panic? Well I guess we have to pass the time somehow until opening day. Pretty stupid article. Nobody is asking Freddy to relive 2004. He's going to have games where he simply doesn't have it. HE'S OUR 5TH STARTER! Take a look around baseball at other teams' projected 5th starter. All we need is league average, even slightly worse would be acceptable, from Freddy. No one's panicking.
  5. I'd rather have Braun than Arod or Utley.
  6. Keeping 20 Major League hitters from not even putting the ball in play is mind-boggling to me. 6 2/3 IP of pure whiffs. That's a full start for most SP.
  7. Freddy is released within 8 weeks. Hudson finishes 24 GS, 11-4, 3.95 ERA.
  8. It's possible that we may not have 1 hitter finish with an OBP over .350. We need 2008 Quentin back or else this lineup is going to suck.
  9. He shouldn't even play next year. We should make him a bench coach!
  10. At least there is some time between Linebrink appearances to simmer down. You gotta watch Pierre everyday.
  11. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Let's just post our keepers in here. As for who has what team... J4L - Sonic22 MattZakrowski - SS Hitmen I believe joeynach is taking over lobo Hanley Ramirez Alex Rodriguez Joey Votto C.C. Sabathia Adam Wainwright
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) I bet you that few things would get Bobby seriously fired up like temporarily losing the closer's job to Putz. I think Putz is by far the biggest question mark in the pen. If he's pitching well enough to take over for Bobby, I think we're in good shape.
  13. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:33 AM) Unless Santos completely goes in the tank, the bullpen seems to be pretty much set. CL-Jenks Thornton Putz Santos Pena Williams Linebrink if Linebrink would happen to regain form, that bullpen could match the starting rotation and be a top 3 bullpen. Even if he doesn't, it's still right at the top. I see it a little more in doubt than that. We still need Putz and Jenks to regain form. The pen has a chance to be at the top, but also a chance to be at the bottom. Right now, you gotta put it in the middle.
  14. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Salty is already 25 and hasn't done much at all yet, not to mention that he is injured, and Teagarden has still got a year or two before he is ML ready. All true. Flowers though is probably the same way. They may be interested in A.J. as a stopgap, but he's not worth anything close to Smoak or Davis. Plus I don't really think the Sox can afford to lose A.J. if they want to contend. He knows this staff like the back of his hand.
  15. Texas has 2 solid young catchers in Teagarden and Salty. Don't think they'd be looking to trade for another young catcher. In fact, I think they traded away another one of their young catchers, Max Ramirez, this offseason, right?
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) ERA/FIP since 2006 2006: 3.41/4.14 (214 innings) 2007: 3.95/4.58 (216 innings) 2008: 3.91/4.23 (188 innings) 2009: 3.77/3.61 (169 innings) A decline in innings for the past three. Avg Fastball velocity since 2006 2006: 92.2 2007: 91.6 2008: 91.3 2009: 91.2 I'd call that a steady decline. CHONE and MARCEL have him for 181 innings and 164 innings pitched respectively. CHONE projects a 4.2 ERA, MARCEL is projecting a 3.84. He's not going to get any better. According to FIP though, he's improved his effectiveness? Using your same sound logic, Jake Peavy is "declining." Peavy (28 years old, 1 day younger than Zambrano): ERA/FIP since 2007 2007: 2.54/2.84 (223.1 innings) 2008: 2.85/3.60 (173.1 innings) 2009: 3.45/2.99 (101.2 innings) Avg FB velocity: 2007: 92.5 2008: 92.1 2009: 91.8 I don't think many here would label Peavy as "declining," but I guess you would. Just a note, but I don't really buy into FB velocity as a sign of decline. I mean, Lincecum's avg FB velocity has dropped each of his 3 seasons.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) What did you do for them? I'll PM you. I'd rather not say publically.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) You work for them, Caffey? I did last year. Heading back to grad school now (DePaul).
  19. I was their everyday last year. Unfortunately, the night life around the stadium sucks. Soho is a bar that most frequent after the game. It's kiddy corner to the stadium. That's the bar you're most likely to see the coaches and players at. I would sit anywhere down the 3B line. Between home and 3B is best as it gives you the best city backdrop. You get a good view of the field from any seat.
