  1. Yep, Davis has the option of becoming a free agent. But I just don't see him turning down a guaranteed $1 million. He must know he won't get that from any other team. If he doesn't care about money and just wants to play, he will become a free agent. But remember, he accepted a demotion to AAA when he was with the Mariners. In any case, it would be nice if accepts the demotion and we can trade him or that he becomes a free agent. That $1 million would be nice at the trading deadline when we need to pick up a player that we need.
  2. Widger was chosen over Burke because he is a better defensive catcher (take note of this JUGGERNAUT ). Widger was chosen over Davis because Davis only hits well from the left side. Ozzie wanted another right-handed bat available off the bench other than Ozuna. I'm sure the torn ligament in Davis' right index finger had something to do with it as well. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
  3. "Red Sox admit Kim was a mistake" http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns
  4. Another reason Widger could be a good pickup is because he has alot more pop in his bat than Burke. He could actually hit a few homers at the Cell. I guess Hawk's "selling" of Widger worked. He's been saying how hard Widger has been hitting the ball this spring but he's been hitting them right to fielders. But I've been watching the games and Hawk is right. Widger is making alot of solid contact right to defenders.
  5. The Red Sox wouldn't have wanted Ben Davis. Boston took on Charles Johnson's salary and Colorado took on Kim's salary so it would be an even swap of money. The Red Sox waived Johnson right after the trade was finalized. Boston made the trade because they wanted the good prospect they got from the Rockies -- Chris Narveson. They never needed a catcher since they have Varitek and Mirabelli. Would you really want Kim considering he is coming off of an arm injury and he has a $6 million salary? Adkins is probably better than him at this point.
  6. I don't think so. He has to rehab from the Tommy John surgery he had on June 1st.
  7. Second worst memory of the start of last season... Second only to Danny Wrong being our 5th starter. :puke
  8. The Sox got Robert Person back?!? By the way, the reason the Sox chose to keep Widger is because chicks dig the Fu Manchu... They should make a commercial for Widger like the "Hotty Scotty" Podsednik ad.
  9. Just start hoping for other team's catchers to get injured. That will juice up Davis' trade value a bit.
  10. I wonder if the Sox want a healthy Davis over Widger or if they actually like Widger over Davis. Once he is healthy, I wonder if they will trade Davis or send Widger down and keep Davis as the backup.
  11. I didn't realize Davis had minor league options left. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws
  12. Yep, just heard it myself. There was a blurb that Davis had a torn ligament in his hand. Maybe that's why they couldn't trade him.
  13. Casanova was already reassigned to minor-league camp. Kevin Walker hasn't been demoted yet. So if there are 28 guys in camp, that leaves Walker, Widger, and ??? Anyone know?
  14. Charles Johnson WAS traded to Boston but they immediately waived him. The Devil Rays are expected to sign him once he clears waivers.
  15. Kevin Walker, Chris Widger, and someone else. Anyone know who?
  16. Maybe we can't trade him because he's injured.
  17. He's old, overpriced, and his defense behind the plate has gotten horrible.
  18. The fact that Gordon is in contention for RotY while coming off the bench and playing less minutes is more impressive than what a starter like Okafor is doing.
  19. He should win both the RotY and the 6th Man Award. What would our record be without his 4th Quarter heroics?
  20. We get to see LeBron tomorrow night. I hope his ankle still hurts.
  21. Since when is Kerr alive? I thought Wayne Larrivee just pulls on some wires like a puppeteer.
  22. 35 points in 23 minutes for Gordon.
