  1. The Pirates wanted to dump Aramis Ramirez' $6 million salary. The Derek Lee trade was a good one but then Hendry ruined it by paying him too much.
  2. Where are all the posters that praised Hendry and said that the Cubs' outfield would be pretty impressive via a Hendry trade or two? Cubs' projected starting outfield: LF - Todd Hollandsworth (vs. righties) / Jerry Hairston (vs. lefties) CF - Corey Patterson RF - Jeromy Burnitz That could be the worst starting outfield in the MLB and they still have a sucky bullpen and no closer. The strikeout potential of their outfield is AMAZING though. Hendry = Overrated

  4. Here's my take. The Cubs are putting out this bogus offer because they want the fans to think they tried to do better than Burnitz. They either know that Maggs won't accept the weak offer or never even made the offer specified. All evidence points to the Cubs signing Burnitz and having an outfield of Hairston in LF, Patterson in LF, and Burnitz in RF. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
  5. Yep, their not getting Huff. Their outfield should look like this on opening day: LF - Jerry Hairston / Todd Hollandsworth CF - Corey Patterson RF - Jeromy Burnitz :puke
  6. Yep, HE GAWN... "Nelson clears air, ready to return Reliever about to embark on third tour of duty in Seattle" http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp
  7. Supposedly, Sham-Me and Tejada are good friends. Both are from the Dominican and it's one of the reasons Sham-Me will waive his no-trade clause. It's obvious that Sham-Me wants out of Chicago and away from all the boos. May as well go to a team where he has a good friend and can hit #600.
  8. Maybe they will sign Burnitz to replace Sham-Me in RF and trade Hairston + prospect(s) to the A's for Octavio Dotel since they still need a closer. And they will just platoon Hollandsworth and Dubois in LF. ESPN is reporting that Julio is not included in the trade. It's Sosa for Hairston and 2 to 4 minor leaguers.
  9. MWAHAHAHA!!! Burnitz could be the Cubs' starting RF'er in 2005... "Deal shows just how far slugger has fallen" http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=2&cset=true By the way, read the whole article. The above is just an excerpt. Phil Rogers must have just written this article up because it is labeled as "January 29, 2005". OH HAPPY DAY!!!
  10. I saw that as well. Fontenot has some pretty impressive minor league numbers... Mike Fontenot http://www.sports-wired.com/profiles/FO/tbc5318.asp Dave Crouthers http://www.sports-wired.com/profiles/CR/tbc5019.asp But I will puke if they are able to swing another trade for Aubrey Huff.
  11. This was reported by the local Chicago media. Especially on The Score and ESPN 1000.
  12. The Cubs are supposedly getting Hairston and 2 to 4 minor leaguers. Here's my hunch... The Cubs will trade Hairston + prospect(s) to the Oakland A's for Octavio Dotel and also trade prospect(s) to the Washington Nationals for Terrmel Sledge. Dotel will be their closer and Sledge will be their corner outfielder.
  13. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ort=MLB&id=6451 http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ort=MLB&id=6599 I'm betting that Lugo will be moved by the trading deadline this season. $3.35 million is alot of money when your team's payroll is only $30 million.
  14. Check it out guys... http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ort=MLB&id=6766 Cintron is definately the utility infielder that Kenny should be trying to acquire. Package Willie with some other guys for him. The Dbacks still need a CF'er and a leadoff man... "Around the Horn: Outfielders Gonzalez, Green solid at corners, but who will play CF?" http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/NASApp...s_ari&fext=.jsp Willie could fit that role for the Dbacks.
  15. Diamondbacks get: 2B/CF Willie Harris OF Joe Borchard White Sox get: INF Alex Cintron If that's not enough for Cintron, throw in Jon Adkins. Cintron is the perfect utility guy for our bench. He can play SS, 2B, and 3B and he's a switch-hitter.
  16. "Rangers cautious with Ordonez Club needs to know slugger's health before engaging" http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp
  17. But then again, had we gotten Ginter in that trade, he would likely had been our starting 2nd baseman or in a platoon with Willie and we would not have signed Iguchi. I like what Iguchi brings to the table moreso than what Ginter does.
  18. I really wish we would have gotten Podsednik, Vizcaino, AND Keith Ginter instead of Hinton (the minor league prospect). Ginter could have been our fall-back plan for Crede at 3B and he's a righty bat. Oh well, I guess there's no point in crying over it now.
  19. I thought he was talking about Luis Gonzalez.
  20. "White Sox designate pitcher Jason Grilli for assignment" http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...r_cws&fext=.jsp
  21. Phil Arvia is basically insinuating that Kenny wanted Nakamura moreso than Iguchi. I don't buy it. Look at their past two seasons (2003 & 2004) and tell me whom you would rather have... Tadahito Iguchi Norihiro Nakamura
  22. And who would that be? The Detroit Tigers' management? There's no question about it. Their rotation sucks, period.
  23. He actually liked most of Kenny's moves... He didn't like the re-signing of Ben Davis... Since when is $1 million way too much money for a backup catcher that is pretty good defensively? What did the Cubs just pay for the purely defensive backtop, Henry Blanco? Oh yeah, 2-years, $2.7 million. :rolly
  24. Hell, I would give the D-Backs Willie and Borchard for Cintron. Arizona may have to start Luis Terrero in CF... "Around the Horn: Outfielders Gonzalez, Green solid at corners, but who will play CF?" http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/NASApp...s_ari&fext=.jsp Willie could play CF and leadoff for them and Borchard could either be their 5th outfielder or keep working in their minors and eventually replace a very old and injury-prone Luis Gonzalez (37). The Dbacks wouldn't miss Cintron much considering they just signed Royce Clayton to be their starting SS and also have Craig Counsell to be their utility infielder.
  25. And paying him all that money would further strap Detroit so they can't sign any decent starting pitchers. Remember, it's their rotation that sucks. Their lineup was fine last year.
