  1. Iguchi pushed it over the top for me. I'm buying 2 Minnie 9-game plans for me and my girlfriend this weekend. I want to see Iguchi!
  2. Agreed and that's why I think Kenny paid Hermanson more than people think he should have been paid. Hermanson's versatility is why Kenny wanted him. He can be a 5th starter, come on in relief, or close.
  3. Good lord, look at Koji Uehara's nasty numbers! http://www.japanesebaseball.com/players/pl...p?PlayerID=1071
  4. If you want to see these Japanese guys' career numbers you can check them all out here... http://www.japanesebaseball.com/players/index.jsp
  5. And we paid Valenstache $5 million in 2004. Pretty sweet that we are paying the same money for Uribe and Iguchi this season that we paid for Valentin last season.
  6. The Giants re-signed Deivi Cruz... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...guenum=&id=5748
  7. I bet it will be Borchard! Hmmm, should that be in green?
  8. He's the guy I would dump.
  9. I doubt any teams out there would claim him and have to add him to their roster. He has only had one really good year so far.
  10. Lopez is the only guy I would worry about designating for assignment.
  11. There are a few guys from the 40-man roster that could be designated for assignment to make room for Iguchi... Pedro Lopez Paulino Reynoso Matt Smith Sean Tracey I doubt anyone would claim these guys.
  12. Agreed, but you can't just think that Uribe should have lit it up for the Rockies though. He only had one full season of at bats with them in 2002. Also, he is still only 25 years old so you couldn't have expected Uribe to put up stud numbers with or without the benefit of Coors when he was only in his early 20's.
  13. Obviously, this is all speculation and it is banking on the Marlins signing Delgado and trading Castillo. It probably has no chance of happening anyways. By the way, how are Harris and Soriano similar players? No way... 1.) Willie Harris can get on base at a higher clip than Soriano (as surprising as that is). 2.) Soriano is a righty bat; Willie is a lefty bat. 3.) Soriano has a ton of power; Willie has none. 4.) Soriano is a horrible defensive 2B; Willie is a good defensive 2B.
  14. This is true. As a starter, Willie isn't a top guy but he could make for a really good bench player.
  15. Not really... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...guenum=&id=6314 So Burnett is going to make a guaranteed $3.65 million in 2005 with a possible $300,000 in incentives. He could earn $3.95 million if he reaches all of his incentives. Garland is only making $3.4 million in 2005 and Willie will make what, league minimum of $320,000? A.J. Burnett = $3.65 million (possibly up to $3.95 million) Jon Garland + Willie Harris = $3.72 million
  16. True. I just think the Cell is definately going to help Iguchi's power just as it did for Uribe. Of course, I'd still rather see a high OBP and alot of SB from Iguchi instead.
  17. Wow, not bad... U.S. Cellular Field's dimensions: LF 330 CF 400 RF 335 Fukuoka Dome's dimensions (Iguchi's home stadium in Japan): LF 328 CF 400 RF 328 Iguchi's home stadium's dimensions in Japan and the Cell's dimensions could be near identical since the Fukuoka Dome has higher walls than the Cell. And remember, Iguchi hits most of his homers to LF. He could very well hit 20+ homers a year for us.
  18. Add in minor league prospect(s) then. Hell, throw in Borchard's sorry ass. Remember, Burnett is set to make alot of money and the Marlins don't have a big payroll.
  19. How about this? White Sox get: A.J. Burnett Marlins get: Jon Garland Willie Harris I would do that trade in a second. The Marlins get cost-cutting replacements for Burnett and Castillo and we upgrade our rotation.
  20. That's actually a good idea as long as it's not for Javier Vazquez and hit albatross contract.
  21. Robbie Alomar signed with the Devil Rays. The Cardinals have Eckstein at SS, Grudzielanek at 2B, and Hector Luna as their utility guy but they could still be interested in a lefty 2B like Willie since Grudzielanek is a righty.
  22. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ort=MLB&id=6176 The Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- "Where scrub ballplayers go to die." By the way, guess who we traded Singleton for? Yes, that's right -- Willie Harris.
  23. According to Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000, the White Sox had no personal contact with Iguchi. They used the MLB service I-Scout, which includes Japanese game film, to scout Iguchi. They also discussed Iguchi with Shingo and Shingo had some great words for him. Levine also said that he thinks Willie Harris' tenure with the White Sox is in jeopardy. He thinks Iguchi is our full-time starter at 2B in 2005. Another words, Willie will be traded.
  24. Do you not see his HUGE eyebrows?
  25. Here's some information on Iguchi... http://theraindrops.blogspot.com/2003_10_0...677923260460576 Key points: - His stadium is an extreme pitchers' park (whereas Kaz Matsui's was better and Hideki Matsui's was an extreme hitters' park). - He controls the hitting zone alot better than Kaz Matsui (who posted a .331 OBP last year). - He's "exceptionally fast" and plays "plus D". They also point to a link where someone's calculated "translations" for Japanese stats... http://baseballguru.com/jalbright/analysisjalbright19.html Using these translations, Iguchi's MLB-equivalent OBP the past 2 years would be .393 in 2003 and .358 in 2004. Of course, who knows if this can even be measured accurately.
