  1. I doubt Kenny will confirm the signing until Iguchi passes his physical today (if he's taking it today).
  2. "Iguchi reaches agreement to join White Sox" http://japanball.com/news.phtml?id=2983 By the way, the opening day lineup could look like this... LF Podsednik 2B Iguchi RF Dye 1B Konerko DH Everett CF Rowand C Pierzynski 3B Crede SS Uribe
  3. Yeah, can a mod please put this link in the first post of this thread? It's alot easier to read than the one about Moth Men.
  4. Yeah, if you look at his fielding stats from the link in my sig you will see that he stopped playing SS in 2000 and switch to 2B in 2001.
  5. His shoulder surgery was in 2000 but I agree with your sentiment.
  6. Yep, he wanted to sign with us because he knew he would get the most playing time here, possibly even win the starting job from Willie.
  7. CHECK IT OUT GUYS!!! "Baseball: Iguchi reaches agreement to join White Sox" http://asia.news.yahoo.com/050124/kyodo/d87qer781.html
  8. Yep, and both Levine and Offman are just going to source the Japanese news and ask Kenny if it is true.
  9. Here's the link... http://www.japanesebaseball.com/forum/thre...sRange=15#29075
  10. According to that poorly translated article, Iguchi accepted the same salary from the White Sox as he made last season in Japan -- $2,300,000 a year. Looks like Kenny's low-balling worked.
  11. We didn't sign Uribe last year. We traded Aaron Miles for him.
  12. No one said it was going to happen or to even believe it. That's why I included the word "RUMOR" in the subject of the thread.
  13. Even with Kubel out they still have Stewart, Ford, Jones, and Restovich to play the outfield. Ford played 46 games in CF last year for the Twins and the Metrodome has an extremely easy CF. Obviously, Gardenhire has no problem playing Ford in CF.
  14. Hate to break it to you but KD is Triple A fodder. He has sucked at the minor league level for his entire career... http://www.sports-wired.com/players/profile.asp?Name=HGF
  15. Didn't know that. But they still have Shannon Stewart for LF, Lew Ford for CF, and Jacque Jones for RF with Michael Restovich as their 4th outfielder.
  16. And if you think the Twins will never trade Torii Hunter, consider this: Hunter will earn $8 million in 2005 which is approximately 15% of the Twins' payroll and $10.75 million in 2006 which will be approximately 20% of the Twins' payroll. They just can't afford to keep Hunter, especially when they have Ford, Restovich, and Kubel earning nothing. Lew Ford can play CF. The Twins aren't going to pay Hunter $10.75 million in 2006. Not a chance in hell. And don't forget that the Astros just lost Beltran which was a big blow for the fans. Keeping Clemens for one more year definately helps but it isn't enough to put them above the Cardinals and the Cubs. They need someone who can play that CF because Biggio damn sure can't.
  17. Not really. Jackass Jones has no where near the trade value that Hunter has. Plus, Jones is only making $5 million this year. They could trade him at the deadline quite easily if they want to. This is similar to how Beane traded his best two pitchers in Hudson and Mulder instead of Zito because they had the most trade value. In other words -- buy low, sell high.
  18. Various message boards and Astros fans. With the Twins' payroll constraints it kind of makes sense since Torii is set to make alot of money in 2005 and 2006. And don't forget that the Twins have a load of young, cheap outfield talent in Lew Ford, Michael Restovich, and Jason Kubel who are all MLB-ready.
  19. An assortment of players -- possibly Morgan Ensberg, Tim Redding, Brandon Duckworth, and 2 minor league prospects. And it kind of makes sense because the Twins need some starting pitching help and another 3rd baseman since they lost Corey Koskie. Also, the Twins are salary dumpers and Torii Hunter is set to start earning the FAT part of his 4-year, $32 million contract. Dugout Dollars says that Hunter will earn $8 million in 2005 and $10.75 million in 2006. I'm sure Jamie Burke will be happy if this rumor is true.
  20. Has anyone heard the rumors of the Twins trading Torii Hunter to the Astros?
  21. Yes, because of shoulder surgery. Remember, I'm not saying anything about Iguchi's arm since I haven't seen him play but Willie's arm is still weak.
