He can get his off-speed stuff over the plate; Shingo can't this year. Since he has no control with his frisbee, he has to throw that 85 MPH meatball right over the plate.

I could actually see us keeping Frank, saying goodbye to Konerko, and seeing if Dye can play 1st base.

He could probably play RF better than Dye.

Until we have a backup 1st baseman on the roster, it won't matter. Ozzie sticks with Konerko on the bases in late innings because we don't have anyone else that can play 1st base.

Valdez wasn't much of a prospect when we got him. He was a 26-27 year old SS playing in the minors. The main reason he was playing on major league rosters this season is because of injuries and his good defense. Valdez was hitting .198 this season before the Padres acquired him and assigned him to the minors. My main point is that we didn't get much for Koch. It was pretty much a dump-job. As in "mediocre."

I don't think he's the answer for our bullpen either but I don't see how he could be any worse than Dingo right now.

Yeah, we dumped Koch for a nothing prospect in Wilson Valdez and also had to send Florida cash.

BINGO! Well, headcase or not, I don't see how Jenks could possibly be any worse than Shingo. Shingo is a meatball waiting to happen and I'm sure his head probably isn't screwed on too straight right about now.
