  1. Fox should have challenged a trapped ball, luckily didn’t matter. Now he still has two to screw up

Hard to know what these guys are like in their private lives (er, though I guess we have some of Kopech a private life on camera), but from his media interviews and stories about Kopech going to other baseball games on off days to study the pitchers, he definitely seems committed to being best pitcher he can be.
  3. Credit where credits due, Mizzou looked like worst team in country it’s first 4 games, played better but lost, then ripped off 5 straight and is going bowling. Very weak schedule, but again, they looked like worst team in country. Also nice because this looks like a brutal year for a team in mizzou’s tier to hire.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 18, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) A hard thrower lacking command reminds me of the issues with Matt Thornton when acquired from Seattle. Hopefully Mr Cooper can get through to this hombre You don’t even need to go back that far, we just did it with Kahnle. Hasn’t always worked though, Massett and Aardsma were misses.
  5. Especially Venezuela right now where hiding money is part of the game.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) Put the kids in a closet for a few hours. It'll be fine. I took your advice, saw lady bird. Worth seeing, fairly standard indie tropes and but really good characters.
  7. I had wanted to get moviepass based on this thread but I realized it's not for me when I've tried to go see Thor for 2 weeks (actually tried) and haven't been able to work it out with sitters in time. Really want to see Ladybird and Thor. Guess I can talk about them with you all in a few years.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) MLB Trade Rumors‏ @mlbtraderumors 10m10 minutes ago All nine qualifying offer recipients have officially declined their offers: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/all-9-recipients-will-reject-qualifying-offer.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...ng-offer.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...ng-offer.html … This was the expected behavior after new CBA right?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 08:33 AM) Pretty amazing. I voted for him initially. Didn't vote for him in the primary but did in the general election his second time, and vowed not to vote for him ever again. If a better candidate doesn't emerge, I am leaving that portion of the ballot blank or writing in someone as a protest. He initially looked like he was going to be good, but he's all about who is ponying up cash. I live in the Gold Coast, right on the border of Old Town. It may seem simple, but on the Gold Coast side of Clark, all new sidewalk. On the Old Town side, sidewalk repairs here and there. That was about 2 months into his reign. I knew all I needed to know then. Yeah pretty much same. But seems like a lot of the good talent that could have ran against rahm went after Rauner. And I swear it's going to end up being like Rahm vs. McCarthy and ugh.
  10. I wonder about that. I feel like they consult cooper for ML guys, but after we acquired Lopez/Giolito it was clear cooper hadn't watched much on them. I wonder if he's brought in on the minor league guys or if it's left to the scouts.
  11. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) It's pretty crazy how Porter centered that team is. Reminds me of the Eric Gordon Indiana teams. They won 8 games last year so not that crazy.
  12. It doesn’t blow my mind or anything, but kinda shocked how effective Rahm is at clearing the field when he’s this unpopular
  13. Mizzou uh, getting pretty destroyed here. Maybe shooting 14%
  14. I know no one is gonna shed a tear for me but game no. 3 of no Porter Jr. No more clear information than a week ago. When you only get 30 or so games with him ...
  15. I am not sure I could disagree more. White collar crime like bribery can cause just as much societal damage, either it be through distrust of institutions or in some cases schemes that end up in death like Ryan, but get viewed as harmless since they weren't holding guns to peoples heads. They deserve the same punishment. They were given power, they knew better, they took advantage. They don't deserve a soft landing. Should those accused of cyber crimes just get house arrest?
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) I thought they get more than that. I'm sorry! That was 2016-2017 so this is 4.75, my bad everyone I"m going to edit the original post
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) And the Supreme Court has kept refusing to hear any of his appeals. With what pols get away with in this country, it amazes me that he is still in jail. I don't know who he pissed off, but he did a damned good job of it. For one Pat Fitzgerald was a very good prosecutor so there was less to nitpick. But yeah, I actually thought blago had a very good appeal. I'm glad he went to jail and I thought we were in a turning point. But then bags of money in freezers and now menendez off. Bob McConnell off. Not good.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) The Yankees have a 40 man roster crunch problem as well. *Suggestive eyebrow raise* Though the sonny gray trade helped a bit in that regard.
  19. Are we aware of how much money we have left? We had 2 300k signings (I believe). 4.75 million-600k = 4.15 million 4.15 million - 500k = 3.65 million Say the other two were 500k, then were still ~2.5, so yes we can make quite a few more.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 12:21 PM) The good news is that it did not cost 20 million Americans health care coverage. So yeah, Supreme Court, you legalized bribery but it kept people insured! This still sucks. Menendez was always one of my least fav senators after the Nelson/Landrieus left.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) I haven't watched a ton this year because with Lavine out the only interesting Bulls player is Markkanen but the guard play is just painful to watch every time I do tune in. None of Valentine, Dunn, Holiday, Grant or Zipser have any offensive ability. Holiday could be really nice in a jamal crawford role but he ends up being our main ballhandler on way too many sets.
  22. Bob Menendez case ending in mistrial. Basically bribery is legal now. Blago case almost assuredly could not have led to conviction under these new standards.
  23. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Not sure how much the sox have left in pool money but most they can give ohtani is 300k. So any money they have over that is free game. While this is technically true, but providing more signing money to the teams that are the most likely and competitive to sign him they are decreasing their chances each day. We are not suitors for the guy.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) He's also got a power curve. If he figures it out command wise, him and Burdi at the back end of the pen.....oh my..... Yeah just saw that video.
