  1. I wouldn't be surprised if Angels looked for some impact player closest to majors like JB or another college pitcher.
  2. I just remember the rage after sox passed on Porcello.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) I'm beginning to worry the Sox pass on Kendall only for him to become another Trout situation (not actually becoming Mike Trout, but posters raging about it for years) The only thing I will say is that soxtalk crushes to me have a pretty good track record, Edwin Jackson notwithstanding. The soxtalk grouphate is more mixed. I am pro kendall but heart of hearts am scared of him. If he fails it will be so obvious why he failed, and if he succeeds it will be a pretty rare thing. edit: most recent grouphate on Aaron Judge as piece for Q not looking good
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Just remember, every meaningless regular season win counts Just remember, being excited that the white sox won has no bearing about whether they win or lose on the field.
  5. For those interested, Longenhagen at fangraphs put his FV scores up on his sortable draft board (I hadn't seen them until today).
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) Why would that matter? I do find it kind of interesting as I was kind of amazed how much time Blake Hickman lost to his TJS. Because he had it in late june/early july he basically lost 2 years
  7. Does anyone else really like David Peterson? A 6'6 lefty with plus control and fastball slider combo with a playable changeup. I'd be happy going underslot for him and getting a play at one of the HS SS/OFs at 49.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) My position is that media outlets should be able to excersize their rights to freedom of speech and shouldn't be directed in how they respond. Any situation where national attention gets turned to this subject should be fair game to bring the need for tighter regulation and limitation statutes reform for prosecution against these types of crimes. I get that the media really isn't free anymore but believe it should be. Poop on Heimlich. The Pac-12 network isn't the mainstream media. It's a media outlet owned by the conference.
  9. Fully expecting something like Beck and Haseley both being available all the way to pick 9, and both get picked as 9 and 10 and we cry.
  10. Yeah, I just don't want JB. Like Peterson more. Don't specifically care about it being about getting a bat, just not crazy about his profile.
  11. Nice, rare to see a homer on that team too. Seems like it will be less rare. I would like at least a .5 home runs for every swing ratio from him. Seems doable.
  12. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) 1. Haseley 2. Beck 3. Adell 4. White 5. Smith 6. Kendall I'm starting to warm up to White being selected at 11. Love his versatility and similarities to Bellinger minus the power. I'm not crazy about the Bellinger comparison. Seems to just be trying to anchor White as higher. I like White, but this is just a more flattering way of complimenting his defense. Bellinger's power and left-handedness are pretty distinct traits to remove.
  13. Wonder what move up today means, that he's a likelihood of being selected today?
  14. It would also be pretty awesome to double up on Becks. Get Austin and Tristan in round 1 or 2.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) Whats the story with this cat? The "still" makes it seem like there is a backstory. Well we previously drafted him, so that always shows interest and often seems to reconnect. He lost about a year in Missouri to an injury (not TJ), and struggled enormously to control anything. This year he was better, but I've seen nothing that projects him as more than a reliever. He would be a great relief prospect, but good arm, no control relief prospects don't seem like round 2/3 guys, especially with TJ already.
  16. For 2nd round pick, if we go college round one would like to see one of the high school shortstops like jeter downs/seisse, but would be pretty thrilled if we got ALex Scherff.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Ray's cutting an underslot deal with Bubba Thompson with their first round pick. Oh, sorry, I get the formatting now. Thank you.
  18. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Frankie Piliere @FPiliereD1 22s The Bubba Thompson rumor is legitimate & I think it could speak to them believing their top priorities - Lewis, Gore, Greene, could be gone John @Citizens_ @FPiliereD1 What do you think about #Rays ? Over draft ? What is this rumor?
  19. Seems like all sorts of underslot discussion hell is breaking loose after several weeks of what seemed like a certain top 5. My prediction: the top 5 is still the same and this is all due diligence.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) I still think we take Montes de Oca in the 2nd or 3rd. My prediction is de Oca doesn't go until round 6 or later
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 08:53 AM) Yes, strikeouts are just enormous. You go back to high k guys like Adam Dunn and Jim Thome, who both provided 40 homers and a lot of on base, their k rates in the minor leagues weren't all that high. They are only going to go higher with Kendall IMO. I know strikeouts were considered no big deal for a while, but to me that made no sense. The reasoning was an out was an out. But even then, runners couldn't advance, and it blew off putting a ball in play gave you a decent shot at a hit. Strikeouts for hitters meant nothing, yet k-rate for pitchers seemed almost most important. Very odd. I think it's turning, Astros seemed to want to get more contact guys this past year with Beltran and McCann instead of players like Castro. I say all of this,a nd was the one who found the hardball times article, but I just can't give up on Kendall. I really think there is something there that will be great.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) I wonder how much of the Bukauskas talk is based on real info and how much is conjecture based on previous (non-Hostetler) picks. It seems like the Sox generally have few info leaks compared to some orgs. Anyways, if it comes to Bukauskas, Kendall, or White, i'd rather have White. I think more of it may just be people did not expect Bukauskus past 10 and are trying to figure out where he'd stop sliding.
  23. I think there are reasons to not get Kendall but one of those reasons is not that we have two 19 year old outfielders that are obviously going to pan out.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 11:44 PM) When are we gonna get an independents thread? There are no restrictions on you making one.
  25. I'd be kinda bummed with JB but recognize he's a pretty good pick we'd be somewhat fortunate to get.
