  1. So the only names I actually know are Alex Scherff and Montes De Oca at this point.
  2. I'm excited mainly because someone actually called the pick. Congrats beautox
  3. Rox select Will Gaddis, a RHP from Furman. On the selection they said Pearson first lol, may have been showing hand who they'd draft ahead of furman.
  4. Rockies are on the clock, then us.
  5. Angels select Jacob Pearson, another HS OF that sounds like someone fun to draft. Hope we get a good HS bat.
  6. higher touted RHP Blaine Enlow goes go twins. Jacob Heatherly LH HS pitcher goes next to reds. HS going
  7. IE worked FYI. We're kickin off round 3 with the twins.
  8. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) The MLB feed online won't work on Google Chrome. There is live coverage now on the feed. Try Internet Explorer or another browser. thanks!
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Anyone else having trouble getting the live stream video to work from mlb.com? Yes, I assumed it was because it hadn't started.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) Thanks. Please forgive me but these picks are pretty much rapid fire with no time in between right? Pretty sure, it is only slow on day 1 to make it a tv event. This they care less.
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) When today do they start picking again? edit: see hi8is
  12. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) The kid won't even have to move if he plays in Winston Ha, yeah I was thinking that too.
  13. Burger looks like Lance Berkman's son to me. Late stage Berkman.
  14. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) That's the key. All of the players who could've fallen to the White Sox that were superior talents didn't, so it came down to choosing between Burger, White, Kendall, or Bukauskas. Personally I'd've gone with White because I like the athleticism more, but I can't really complain about Burger under the circumstances. At least they avoided the bad choices of Kendall and Bukauskas. Just want to add that the thing I really didn't like about White was I read a lot about concern about swing and miss from him. And the idea of a non power guy with swing and miss that might play 1b was not that thrilling. He will be a very interesting player to follow though.
  15. This is going to pass and nobody has any idea what's in it. Called dem senators to grow a spine and start withholding unanimous consent until at the very least a markup session is allowed.
  16. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) Figuring out where the draft "fell off" is pretty subjective, to say the least. Sox grabbed two power guys (with low strikeout rates). Sort of a continuation of last year with Collins (except the strikeouts). Interesting shift away from Kenny's toolsy types. Yes but for my purposes it fell off of a cliff after the top 9. Not crazy about Pavin Smith, but every other pick I'd have been drooling. Just needed one of htose teams to reach for a college pitcher or savings, none did. With the smaller pools perhaps it's over.
  17. Yeah there was just no easy answer, and JB dropping way down should have said what people thought about his potential to stay a starter. They may be incredibly wrong, but just shows it wasn't an easy answer for any of the teams. I could come up with combos I'd like a little more, but we ended up getting some of the best power available, and we did not have much power in this org outside of Charlotte. It may fail, but you do need to find power. Today will be pretty interesting though. Last year I wasn't crazy about day 2 last year immediately just by player type. I'll probably have same reaction this year, but I trust the results more after last year. I would have pegged Flores as one of our worst picks 1-10 last year based off of his bio, and that dude has a real shot to be in the MLB. A major win for a pick that late.
  18. That said I'm very jealous that Cleveland got Quentin Holmes.
  19. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) He's a lifelong White Sox fan. If nothing else he won't want to embarrass himself and will want to make a name for himself. I don't believe 11th overall picks get paid that well? It's not like he is set for life. If he works hard for 6 years he can get himself a 100+ million $$$ guaranteed pay day. They have some of the best training facilities on earth in AZ and a great training program. I'll admit he kind of reminds me of the kid in Trouble with the Curve but it's probably just his size and accent. An arm bar is different than a hitch, no? He may never pan out, but if anyone has some extra reasons to succeed, this kid has them. Excited to have a couple mashers in the system with Sheets as well. We're the Chicago White Sox for crying out loud. Excited for today thanks everyone for the scouting reports and input. A lot of us don't know anything about any one of these guys. Nobody really knows any of these guys, we just google them faster.
  20. QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:20 AM) On the drafting for need point, I would be pretty surprised if they didn't group prospects into tiers and if they didn't select somebody from the best available tier. Yeah, I think people's BPA with the mlb draft is kind of overblown. But I think the tiers were influenced by trait needs in the whole farm system not major league team needs. Last year we began addressing obp, this year power. Also have a need of youth. Would guess we'll see a lot of protectable bodies today.
