Can Illinois Survive?
After a morning devotion to the state I head to the socialized mines, take my cent wages and sprint home avoiding machetes and gunfire. I sleep near the door to promptly respond to the tax man who takes the rest from me, but provides me with everything I need.

In The Meantime
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) Yeah I feel like the juiced ball is most beneficial to guys with warning track power. Davidson hits no doubters. but it's not just about home runs. He may be seeing higher average due to the balls in play being that much harder hit.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 12:28 PM) I believe it is all in Davidson's head. He probably thinks he is too good for AAA and got down on himself when he didn't make the team when we traded for him. Then he struggles and presses way too much to try and prove himself and bam he sucks. This is how I feel to, and I have thought it would all unravel after his first cold streak but he keeps battling back. THis is one of the things that I want to attribute to RR, I think he gets these players prepared to struggle and ready to battle out of it.

The 2018 class is unfortunately not considered to be that riddled with 1 and done level talent. MPJ and then some players that could be top ten. Definitely a year you want shots at #1.

Yeah, still not crazy about his point guards but Dunn has a decent coach for it. Decent 3p shooting. Not excited to see what Wade looks like on this team.

AFter this year I'm never counting out players that hit the ball really hard. Hell, look at Smoak. Hit the ball really hard for a while but numbers always sucked, now they are finally going out of stadium and into gaps.

Trade Mike Trout
I think that's probably about as close as you could get but I do think it has to be dodgers/yankees/red sox, one of the teams that can spend to fill holes with elite talent, not replacement players like the Angels (yes i know angels used to be one of the teams that would spend but moving the other teams don't have a cap) I think Angels for trout should demand a young established player, but it does become a question of: you are trading for trout to improve team and win a championship, how much can you diminish big league talent before you become the same situation as angels? Trout, being best player since bonds, will probably mean that the acquiring team literally gets most total value, I don't think any team could really give what it takes to acquire him and it be fair to both. He's too good. For a team stuck in hell like the angels though, I think best case scenario is Angels trade: Trout Pujols Dodgers trade: Bellinger Urias Alvarez Verdugo Calhoun Pick 1 of intl talent group That is: salary relief, two top 20 pitching prospects, top ten hitting prospect and two top 100 hitting prospects, and some amount of young wild cards. Few teams could compare with that. And it's the one situation that I think the acquiring team has enough major league pieces they are undoubtedly better off and still have depth to handle the year to year issues.

If they did not think he was a fit, they should have traded it for future seconds or late firsts. Trading it for cash is further sign that they have no idea how to dig out of this mess (but they do know how to keep the franchise profitable!!!!!! Financial champions ftw)

There's a lot there but first things first, Abreu is not netting you that.

White Sox make 25 minor league roster moves
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) It seems like Dulin and REmillard will either go to Winston Salem and Sheets and Burger will go to Kanny or Sheets and Burger go right to Winston Salem. I think this is right, will be interesting to see. I like keeping Remillard and Morrison together.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) Yes, I worry how bad they will be though. I do think they think they have a core with this, and I really don't want to be in the 6-7-8 range. For instance, they should see if RoLo gets them anything. He has a good contract and showed to be a very valuable rebounder. We should try to get one of the celtics own picks.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) They're going to be bad next year and for the near future. I have to believe they know that and planned on that when they gave up Butler for young players. Yes, I worry how bad they will be though. I do think they think they have a core with this, and I really don't want to be in the 6-7-8 range.

Are there reports on Mendicks arm? When I saw it in person it looked really weak, but all the scouting reports I saw say he's a defensive plus player that can stick at short.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) By accepting this as a win just because they decided to pick a lane and do the rebuild would lead me down the same road they have dragged me down as a fan for years now. I am really tired of giving them the benefit of the doubt. Trying to rationalize every move that they make to being whats best for the team in the grand scheme of things. f*** that. I cant ignore the fact that they accepted a terrible return for JB, this trade mattered to this rebuild. I give GarPax no credit, they are pathetic. Also I don't buy the best deal crap at all. They decided what best deal was. They could have traded Taj/Doug for draft picks, they did not, they got a bunch of young players that Gar had a hardon for We know the bulls were hot and sweaty for Dunn. They valued getting a young-oldish prospect over future a bunch of flexible assets like draft picks while also becoming a worse team for high lotto picks. This is them thinking they can build on the run. They will fail, because they are bad at evaluating talent, and continue to have a strong preference for older college players.

In The Meantime
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) Same with Matt. Do we realize he is up to an .886 OPS now? Yeah it's just incredible. I am waiting to see how hell do full time at 3rd, but it's really cool he is able to focus this much at DH. Often seems like an issue when we've put guys there out of the field. I don't think we'd get anything for matt so good that it's worth jumping on instead of letting him play. If he fails, we didn't expect him to do this anyway, not really a setback. If he keeps it up, we have much needed power and his ability to play DH isn't blocking anyone.

6/22 Games
Yeah there's no one holding Mendick back, I just don't think they have a SS to replace him with and he's not a high priority. Great year for him though.

I agree with CWS too. One thing that has changed for me is I looked at the Phillies as a positive development. They competed earlier and more than expected last year, and believed the hype to some level on the production they got. They have been snake bitten with injuries, but just not seeing returns. I'd prefer sox not believe in this production until next year if it continues. And if someone does come-a knocking on Leury garcia with a young B- prospect with a plus tool, then sell sell sell. Avi, I admit, I don't know what to do with. I want to just keep him and see what's up.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 07:49 AM) A lot of the smarter minds seem to understand the trade as part of a big picture (Joe Dumars gets the trade, for example). People who look JUST at the trade have bad grades, which is completely understandable, but the time was right for the Bulls to move on and they could not do that without moving Jimmy. Joe Dumars! Great news!!!

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) I am happy they decided to rebuild and I am totally disappointed in the return the Bulls got for JB but what is more devastating is the reality that all this did was buy Gar and Pax more time in this org. They now get to build a team from the ground up again which most of us have absolutely zero faith that they will be able to do. Like, its not even a possibility. They will have to hit on every single damn draft pick in the next few years including this one and have Dunn and Lavine both pan out to be all stars if they think they are going to contend in a few years. There is no top 1-2 FA's that will want to come here when the time comes to add and that is what you need to really get you over the top. Obviously part of this is my judgment, but they took every valuable asset they had in Taj and Butler and got exactly 0 future additional draft picks out of it, and very questionable whether the young assets they acquired can be served to that end. Lavine is fine, but I just will have to see it to believe it on a guy coming off an ACL injury.

It says a lot that the Bulls can even do the right thing wrong.
