  4. Amazing we have 55 appearances with a reliever with a 5.66 era Great game by ranaudo
  5. Shaun hill is their backup. Yuck.
  6. Dang, word out of MN is Bridgewater went down with a "non-contact" injury.
  7. You know, if the bears want to obscure public medical info, it's their right to push the limits of what they need to disclose. But I do worry that they start to believe it themselves. To play McPhee at the end of last year and give him a "knee scope" that takes him out 8 months now, after last year with White's sudden shut down, doesn't seem like their medical staff is making the correct calculations for players health.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) It is also the absolute easiest way to get attention, which is why many through time have done it. NBA players wearing I Can't Breathe was much more effective as it allowed them to focus on their message where this quickly boiled down to "Why don't you support vets" and "Why don't you leave the country". The NBA protests also received plenty of attention. Just a less effective choice of protest in the modern media environment.
  9. He did have a start where he used 21 changeups. I think that is developing more than you are giving credit for.
  10. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) Does anybody know how much money the White Sox are making from the new stadium name deal? I wanna say $8 mill annually.
  11. You guys are making mortgages out to be really interesting.
  12. So yesterday Willie Young mentioned that McPhee was working his but off to come back from something that would have been career ending not too long ago. If I were to bet, I'd bet we don't see McPhee this year and possibly ever more than "he'll play 12 games"

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) Everybody is using the anthem as another way to NOT talk about police violence and racial tension. Yeah this is how I feel. He wants to do his thing, not going to attack him. But the anthem and flag protests are not my recommended places of protest as it is the surest way to get people to talk past you.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) See what I mean . That was rough last night. Fun game before hand too. I believe my exact words in march was that I was glad at the depth we had in the bullpen and was confident we could weather some injuries. Nope Nope nope nope nope nope
  15. Missing my first US Open after 2 straight years. Very jealous tonight
  16. I really like the idea of the starting pitchers being "deactivated" for the days between starts to allow expanded rosters. We all want to see the best baseball possible, why not let more players on a team within reason? 25 is too limited with 5 starting pitchers and the way bullpens are used.
  17. I had a truly terrible draft in this keeper league that i can never get ahead in. I've never placed above 6th. This draft from the beginning was bad but I need basically a lot of luck with injuries this year to have a chance.

I would say that writing to your congressman and voting do far more than people imagine. Especially when it comes to requesting services for navigating government.
  19. Obviously the heavy hitters like Rodon/TA would be nice but I think another encouraging sign would be if jacob turner and beck have a strong finish as bullpen pieces
  20. Well, to continue on, I think the last thread ended on everyone agreeing that my take on the salary cap was the best and then I was appointed by Kyyle as best poster.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) come on now. May be some hyperbole but nothing in baseball has shown me that a really good front office team can't overcome money deficit. Especially with TV money now.
  22. Having seen the NBA, NFL and NHL, I really don't see a need for MLB, especially after this decade. No one tried to buy WS more than the post 2000 yankees have tried to buy a WS. Or the Angels under Moreno. ANd they haven't. The best run organizations in the MLB have done well regardless of market or salary. The Rays did it for a while. The Rangers under Daniels and Ryan. The Cardinals forever. The Red Sox. The Dodgers, and now the Cubs.
  23. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) What salary cap league isn't more competitive than MLB? The NBA is probably the lone exception and that's due to a lack of stars relative to teams and a desire amongst players to live/work in big markets. A salary cap would be awesome for MLB. I think the assumption that the NFL has so much more parody is largely a reflection of the # of teams allowed in the playoffs. The decade of 2010-current has been dominated by the ravens, patriots, seahawks, broncos and 49ers for a time. No different than MLB being dominated by the Giants, Cardinals, Red Sox, Royals and Rangers
