Perfect example. Calls for ball in dirt from drob and blocks it perfectly in 9th inning with runner on.

It is unlikely Narvaez is a real starter but there's nothing to lose letting him prove what he is. He has looked professional in everything he's done. Hard to believe he hit so poorly on minors.

Man Morneau is so good. I thought he'd be completely done when he joined.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) 2 things I will be looking for in this game: Continued offensive prowess from Abreu, Frazier and Avi, and for Rodon to get that ERA below 4. Yep, and the narvaez / Rodon connection to continue

FYI I'm never again falling for the "OC leaves but we're going to call the same offense" trap ever again if the head coach isn't actually the OC

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Gonna be a long season. It seems that trading all of our pro bowl offensive talent and replacing them with fourth round picks and UDFAs wasn't was foolproof as I had imagined in May .

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) Aaand Freeman hurts himself celebrating a nice play. Looked like he got an assist from a teammate. He's back on field. Would like a long Kevin white TD so I can stop watching

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
Why are we so concerned about the return here? I'd have happily DFAd Navarro. Worst case scenario would be sending down narvaes

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) Specifically it's a divide between college and non college whites. Every other demographic isn't even close. Fwiw Republicans typically win white college demographic by a decent amount. If you break it down even more, I think non college white women are close to even but trump's main core of support is non college white men. Yeah this is right. Ugh, so fatigued on demographic splicing in polls. Can't wait for this election to be over. brain is boiled.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Eh. I think the national view of religion is what has really changed here. It used to be pretty assumed that someone's religious views were going to be largely what their political views were based on. I don't think it is a case of this being a step forward towards religion, I think is more of a case of a good portion of the country taking a step back away from religion so it just appears differently. For example, it has been a pretty consistent theme to use the bible as a justification for the separation of the races. It is just today that more and more people have turned their backs on that sort of stupidity. It isn't that this sort of thinking is new, it is that it stands out more today than it used to because it was more commonly accepted. Things like divorce, kids out of wedlock, gay rights, etc all fall under that same umbrella. It stands out more today, but it isn't new. In fact I would argue it is precisely this revulsion towards those lines of thinking that I feel tells me more that people are moving away from those lines of thinking than to it. Otherwise people in large numbers still wouldn't be getting upset about it like they weren't 50, 100, 200 years ago. This is probably true. What is the biggest indicator this election? I think they said college degree was a bigger signifier than gender, religion, anything. Some of that would of course be affected by the age swings, but one thing with the lack of a "third place" like church is the views of people being segregated not by race but by class.

New Ballpark Name
tell ya what, they are probably too smart to buy naming rights, but with their recent move to bridgeport and all, vienna beef park would have been pretty great.

Meh, nobody watches cable news. If they stopped showing it at airports I'm sure we'd all forget it existed. They reflect their audience, the 14 people watching at any one time are roughly 800 years old and live in fear.
