QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) Like I said, I don't think Connor Barth is better. Maybe Gould has regressed that much during the off-season, but last year, Gould was better then Barth. I honestly think it's a wash. Gould had a very good last 3-4 games after he destroyed our season when it counted. It's possible with more time, Barth could have hit 3-4 kicks in a row and been better, or been way worse. BUt statistically his modest gains in kickoffs are an improvement over Gould, and his 2% worse accuracy was not too significant given number of kicks.

I think they absolutely should regret not bringing in competition into camp. But Gould was definitely on downward trend and I think his missed PATs really did scare them. This isn't a "we're way better!" but our kickoffs are probably better and we'll need to get inside the 30 to score points.

Sox call ups, round 2
I hope Leury hits. He really would be the best bench piece.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Yeah, we have no idea what is up with that yet so I didn't include it. Just super odd timing. Defended Ailes, settlement comes, same day she resigns.

Overvaluing youth, not necessarily QB. Valuing them so high means you are probably under to properly valuing QB. Lots of fine ones available. But Roethlisberger from a fantasy perspective is certainly better than all three of them. They are on Kirk Cousins tier.

I stayed away. Not because I can't see a world where they succeed (Can very well), but putting eggs in Mike Mularkey putting together a good offense. If you win you can win big there, but honestly I'd rather bet on San Fran offense than his even though it has way less talent.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) So, apparently in New York State it is legal for one party to record another without the other's express permission. This is relevant today because as of last week we started hearing rumors that Gretchen Carlson had been taping comments by Roger Ailes and others for the last several years. Within a few days of the rumors that there were tapes, Fox News settled her sexual harassment claim for $20 million, along with several other claims by other women today, and issued a public apology. For the most part, people such as Sean Hannity who tweeted that she was a liar have yet to comment. and Greta Van Sustern resigned.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) I disagree. There is a ceiling on the return. I think if Sale has 2 years left vs. 3 or 1.5 instead of 2, makes very little difference. I agree with this up to .5 years left. But depends how long you want to keep team in limbo.

Rodgers is 32. Judging by Brady/Manning/Romo/Brees he probably has 6 years left at a high level if not more. He's not "Manning in Denver" mode yet.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) This guy has only won 1 Super Bowl as a GM and 1 as a director of player personnel. Been a part of playoff teams almost every year. Total bum. I know a lot of teams that what kill for 1 Super Bowl win and to be a contender every year. Ted Thompson has his faults, but he is still one of the best GM's in the game. That's not just my opinion. This whole thing with Sitton may come back to bite them, but I will give Ted Thompson the benefit of the doubt for now. I can't think of one player that he let go who ended up still being great and the Packers looked dumb. Marco Rivera Mike Wahle Scott Wells Aaron Kampman Greg Jennings James Jones Charles Woodson Tramon Williams He was second guessed on all of those. None of those players did much when left. So Sitton may be great for another 5 years and the Packers look dumb, but I would be more willing to bet he doesn't finish that deal with the Bears. Also, the Packers have a lot of homegrown talent because they draft well. Free agency is not a sound strategy, I wish Thompson was a little more active, but outside of the Broncos, most teams that live off free agency are bad and stay bad. Good post. But Sitton may well be successful in being a bridge to a line with Whitehair taking over. Even if he doesn't finish deal he may still be a good signing.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Looks like P Diddy just echoed what I said. She might be able to just keep hanging out at rich fundraisers & tweet about Trump...but maybe that won't be enough. We'll see how long the media can keep hiding her. WhileI don't think she is trying to necessarily step in front of Donald before he shoots himself in the foot, in a normal campaign her normal activities would be covered. but her big rally in OH last week to talk to Veterans was not covered...because Trump went to Mexico and then doubled down on deportations. What did come out was a series of articles with scary tones about the Clinton Foundation that had zero actual allegations of improprieties that were backed up in the articles. Meanwhile, Trump Foundation actually did illegally donate money to an AG race Florida just after she said FLA might join the suit against Trump University and then suddenly declined after the donation. Trumps strategy is to suck all of the medias oxygen in the room with outlandish tactics. It works, he gets all of the coverage. Now, obviously doing outlandish things is not a great strategy for the voters who take the president's job seriously, but it is effective in what it aims for - to be what everyone is talking about all the time.

QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) The wrong side of 30? He is 30 years old now right? I would think he has at least another three good years left in him. That's still the wrong side of 30 (If you think of 30 as a fulcrum, he is on the other side of the fulcrum, not flat on top.

Jose Abreu
We've been losing, we've been losing in a way that's easier to handle (bad non core players being unbelievably bad rather than core players sucking) Jose did it, he didn't just start hitting "normally" he had that unreal hot streak that lets you know he's still capable of a magic season.

I can't believe how lucky we are with Sitton. Completely flips around my hopes for our oline. Can't wait for Whitehair to replace larsen. Going to have some much better pass blocking and holes

Omar Narvaez
QUOTE (coco1997 @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I'm fine with Robin saying Narvaez has "put himself on the map." The "next several years" part was unnecessary. Well when Hahn said it. And I'm guessing they didn't expect Narvaez to make the leap like this. Probably a flash of hot hitting but it's been a month now. We can just be happy. A player succeeding.

Well I enjoyed the five minutes I thought Mizzous football would be better than Mizzou basketball. Amazing how quickly midtier programs fall apart.

White Sox call up Minaya and Smith
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) I dunno guys. Nobody complains about the FO more than me, but I've seen much MUCH worse teams on the field than this. This team is actually entertaining sometimes. Yeah I still find team entertaining. Last year was way way worse for reasons I can't even identify. But this group seems more competent and fun.
