  1. Finally read Ailes stuff. Horrifying
  2. That speech was not that good but it was not good because it had 4 different directions, was too long, and was too long because she had a bunch fo policies she favored. Not all of them had anything to do with trump.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but... Dayton Cripe @daycri83 @barstoolWSD got any news for us today? whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 26m26 minutes ago Chicago, IL whitesoxdave Retweeted Dayton Cripe Quintana to Red Sox for moncada ++ Betting anything it's sarcasm because of how much s*** he got involved with by red sox fan blogs for even acknowledging sale/Q would go for more than b level prospects.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) To be fair, it's a hysterical scenario. "WHAT IF WE TRADED WRIGLEY FOR SALE AND COMISKEY?" They have to keep Ronnie Woo Woo though.
  5. I am not going to throw the sexism card a lot because I don't want to preface it with "i'm not talking about you but these..." But if you listened to that speech and only pulled out that she's running as a woman, you are a sexist.
  6. If someone offered 1 billion dollars for Chris Sale do you think the white sox accept? Edit: nobody respond to this.
  7. Well to reduce it it would require you or I to host it elsewhere as a smaller image and that would take too long so I'm just going to reduce the amount of posts i see per page and move on.
  8. SS can you decrease size of that image pwetty pwease
  9. I would ship sale out in a hot second so I'm guessing it's not a fair trade. Maybe if we add shields /green.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) Yeah...I don't think Mitt ran a teaparty campaign. Tea party was poor phrasing, I more accurately meant to say that he ran during the tea party time and misread that group as especially hard line conservative bordering on libertarian, but were really just angry voters. I think lost does a good job with his analysis, but its worth remembering that Mitt's entire campaign he basically refuted everything he did as a governor of massachusetts and even as a businessman. He was basically just running on policy, a policy that was favoring the hard right congress wave of 2010.
  11. You know, I feel like I was the one that introduced real estate into this discussion.
  12. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) I may be in the minority here, but I would strongly consider Betts straight up for Sale. If Boston added in another decent prospect it's a no brainer. But I don't think it's realistic to expect Boston to be trading one of the best players in their ML roster, even for Sale. I unfortunately don't think we are in the position where 1 for 1 deals are possible
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) If I am Hahn, I am not trading Sale without getting those two plus some. Case closed and if it was the off-season I'd want one of Betts / Bradley plus one of Moncada / Benitendi and their best pitching prospect. Now some of you may say I am delusional, but that is what it would take if I were the GM. I agree, but even in offseason I don't think we are getting betts. But no, sad as I will be that even the best / pitcher friendly contract in baseball is being traded and we can't get them, I am not trading to boston unless we get both plus wildcard prospects.
  14. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I'm fine packaging if it means Moncada and Benitendi together. +1 If we end up with two top ten prospects in all of baseball out of 1 of our major pitchers and a bullpen piece I'll be thrilled. If we had two top ten prospects at once, if you asked us who we could get if we packaged them there wouldn't be a single player in baseball we wouldn't think we could get. Possibly Trout.
  15. I thought Mitt was a pretty good public speaker.
  16. Bush gave 1 great speech and a bunch of terrible speeches and he won. George H.W. Bush was about as fun to listen to as Ben Stein reading a Greg post.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) There is so much of an interest and political gain in fear mongering that most people don't believe this anymore. Well yeah depends what kind of violent crime we are talking about but I think to some degree this is due to the "flatness" of the world now. All politics is local is B.S. now. All politics is whatever is the most terrible thing happening in any part of your country.
  18. Well America is not safe relative to other western countries or our neighbor to the north, it is safe comparable to America in 1990 or America in 1970.
  19. I could handle not including benintendi if it meant devers/erod being included. That they can get away with a hamels package is just ridiculous.
  20. To be honest I'm a little biased as I think some of the surge of money into politics is this idea of an expensive GOTV operation, and "how could you not have tried everything". I don't think they are necessary to democracy and would be first to go with publicly funded elections.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Sure, but that's in normal years. Orca might have sucked, but Romney still had a full-blown campaign running starting way back in the primaries. Here we are on July 29, and Trump still doesn't have any campaign whatsoever in Pennsylvania. I guess I'm thinking of it as an MVP-level campaign (Obama) and a Replacement-Level campaign (Romney) versus an All-Star level campaign (Clinton) and a T-ball level campaign (Trump). eta: the campaign's listed number for Iowa is also out of service, lol But that article was an aggregation of hundreds of studies some of which had the control of no GOTV effort. Especially in a national campaign when so many are aware its election day I'd put it's effect at very little.
  22. Mitt Romney ran a Tea Party campaign when it turned out he probably could have ran as the centre-right governor he was and done a lot better. But he still probably would have lost.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) The state of Trump's state-level organization in PA, probably his most crucial state, as of yesterday: This is why I was asking about what effect GOTV has had on actual vs poll numbers in previous elections. If anything this year matters, this has to matter, right? In that article I sent, it appears to only matter by about 1%. Not insignificant, but not a game changer.
  24. I called it. Despite an absolute sellers market, with two of the best pitchers on the market, on longterm, friendly contracts, we won't find buyers because everyone paying 50% more for cheaper 1/2 season rentals. Being a white sox fan is a special kind of limbo.
