Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I feel like I'm experiencing an alternate reality or something. You guys are acting like this team is 20 games under .500 and has a bunch of pending free agents. Again, I understand the opinion that the team should rebuild, but I don't understand why everyone is acting like it's unbelievable that they aren't selling. It's very believable. They didn't "blow" anything, they just made a different decision than you wanted. When the GM says "this team is mired in mediocrity" and then doesn't do anything to fix it, then we have to assume that is acceptable to the White Sox.

Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
I really thought when I was seeing things like the Chicago media pushing to sell, fan polls hitting 80%, that the front office felt it had cover to move forward. But when you have nobody providing guidance except "I like to put forth winners, but not at all cost", then this is what you get. Not a winner. Not an up and comer. Just limbo.

Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Hahn really didn't help himself with the "mired in mediocrity" thing, even if it was true. That comment opened a big yawning gap for criticism to flow into today. So true. "We've identified the problem but we don't know how to solve it so we are just going to not do anything and hope it goes away"

Trade Deadline: Sox Make No Moves
One of the things that annoys me about waiting, when you've already diagnosed that your team has an intractable issue with its talent is you are delaying the change in purpose for 6 more months. You are delayed in working with new players with a new system, you are delayed in changing the directives of our scouts and farm.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) This just makes the most sense to me, assuming they can't get the king ransom's for Sale and Q. I'd try to get Carlos Gomez on a 1 year deal. Let Tilson be the 4th OF. That team is still terrible.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Flash Tizzle. But it is a cleaver way of not answering a question. Clever. I don't like the Rangers much as a match, so Mazara/Gallo is all I care about. But I was the one in this thread re-setting expectation that I would be happy with one of the top 2 prospects from Boston if it meant 3-4 top 100 along with it, OR if we did receive both we should not expect much more. From LAD, Urias/Bellinger is the core you need, then can work to get 2-3 others. Urias wasn't even budged for Hamels, so getting him plus Bellinger starts to approach top value.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Boston, LA, Texas. The other guy refused to answer, what is the bare minimum from each you would think the Sox should take? So you can remember random caulfield posts from 4 years ago but you can't remember who you were arguing with 5 minutes ago? \

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) I don't know what the offers are either, but they set a price and are sticking with it. I think that is good strategy. If Sale must be traded, he can still be traded after the season. Them setting a price and sticking to it is exactly why we have JB Shuck as our starting CFer. Their prices are terrible. They are both incredibly conscious of how a longterm expensive deal can hamstring a team and completely ignorant of how their routine raiding and horrible player development hamstrings them longterm. If Sale must be traded for one price that doesn't exist, then, you can finish that. I have complete confidence a better GM could have created a more interesting package for Sale by starting a bidding war at a lower price than by saying "give me your major league offense!" to a bunch of playoff teams.

White Sox Listening on Sale
Dick - no. We aren't doing this circular kill thread with randomly accusing people of making an argument you heard once somewhere. We are here to beat a dead horse on a trade that will not happen.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) It's sad how predictable their failures are. Just like we're hear in December that the market is oversaturated with SP on the block, which decreases our pitchers value, and "why would someone give up all of that for Sale when they can pay half for Archer?" So true.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) Embarrassing. This organization is an absolute headache and I agree with the poster who said while I'll always be a Sox fan, it'll be time to step away from the team for awhile. No more games this year. Even if you're going to make excuses for Quintana and Sale, what about everyone else? I cannot believe only Zach Duke and his 4th OF return was the best option out there. Yeah yeah there are 2.5 hours left, but I'm sure we'll be left disappointed yet again. Then again come winter when Sale and Q still remain. Then 2017 when we're again mediocre. We joked about it earlier, and it's so true. Whenever it's the sox turn to sell, all of the things we say make them attractive are the things that we hear back as why they can't get a return.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) From reading around it seems like a great majority of Red Sox fans don't want a deal for Sale to get done. Can't blame them. Think about how much you didn't want to trade Tim Anderson last year (not you but in general) and then add that he's the #1 prospect in baseball.

White Sox Listening on Sale
Really surprised there is 0 quintana chatter and has been. Kind've reaffirms that others don't see his market as the same.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Puig would make some sense, as the Sox are probably not going to be able to land a CF in FA this winter. Eaton will probably have to return to CF regardless. Except next year shouldn't matter. But it will.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) The Sox aren't done. They may not blow the whole thing up, but they're not done. And Reddick would hold no appeal to the Sox. He's a FA at year end. Nonsense. I'll believe Reddick is not a sox target when he retires.
