  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) With Jackson and Eaton, is improved outfield defense really the highest priority? An adequate left fielder would be fine, if he provided the bat they need. Or Melky could stay in left, and they could acquire a DH. It may have diminishing returns, but anything that somehow improves our pitching staff is still making us stronger.
  2. I think the Washington series will be fun in June, but unfortunately on weekdays. 6/7-6/9. Yankees on 7/4?
  3. Was offered Hanley for Aaron Nola. I promptly declined. I'll have to watch Nola vs. good hitting teams, but I feel like his stuff is perfect for the NL this year.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) I saw this amazing stat: entering yesterday the Braves could hit 40 homeruns in a row and not surpass the Cardinals' OPS on the year. The NL is really a joke compared to the AL. My jaw hit the floor when I saw that McCutcheon hit more home runs yesterday than the braves had hit all season.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) "Everybody Wants Some" was excellent. Same tone and structure as D&C. Linklater is the director Cameron Crowe wishes he could be. Using music the right way and being able to really bring back the tone and show an era. I still haven't been able to get to it.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) Probably because of the amount of really crappy teams. The crappy teams ain't hitting either, the strong teams are just feasting. I mean, the Reds are batting Brandon Phillips as their cleanup. Count our blessings.
  7. Thanks, enjoyable read (though i'll read anything on the white sox and enjoy it now!)
  8. Yeah I'm interested to see where Tunsill goes now. Chargers don't seem to be obvious fit though figure it out! Ravens may go Tunsill but seem to really want to plug in their defens.e
  9. QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Agreed. Our system has looked really bad this year... The shark trade is painful right now. Our system looked pretty bad in April last year too, then a bunch of players recovered and made adjustments. These kids are moving up a level. Anyway, I'd be fine with a Carl Everett level addition. Older vet, late in contract. Tough to find fits. Wil Myers was an interesting mention. Chris Carter maybe. Brewers could be happy to get a piece while building. Shouldn't cost much.
  10. Man, I can't believe how bad the Braves are. They may challenge the Tigers record.
  11. oh my god, one of hastert's victims was the brother of his political ally and illinois house R Tom Cross. He actually reached out to cross for letter of support for Hastert. Ugh, I'm gonna be sick.
  12. This Hastart sentencing testimony is so sad. Important to remember it isn't just the initial assault on these victims, but how it can scar and destroy their lives (and families).
  13. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) This is not a stat that tells us much but i thought it interesting to point out-- we are tied for #30 with Seattle in Total # of Players Used so far this year More from baseball reference: their strength of schedule rating says all AL Central teams have faced (in sum) below-average opponents except Cleveland. KC's schedule has been the easiest. Yeah, Frazier and Abreu definitely are due for a day off.
  14. I was just thinking about when I looked at our April schedule and thought how could we get to .500 on that schedule. Now I'm looking at each game coming up and like "when do we lose?" Let's sweep the birds.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) It was a very well played game defensively, everyone did their part. Eaton has become a truly elite defensive right fielder, I don't think this is a small sample size aberration, he's just unreal out there, makes it all look so easy. One thing with the throws - I saw a statinc or some stat place showed eaton last year had among the highest throwing velocity. He often throws it right in front of him. I'm wondering if him not needing to worry about hitting the mound on the throw home/being left handed in RF is just his sweet spot. But yes, all of his jumps. I love it. This team. What a surprise.
  16. Just watching the video replays, looks like solid D again. Can't believe how fundamentally sound they have reverted into being. Really, really like Lawrie's 2b. I don't know if numbers will back it up but I'm thrilled with our IF which seemed like it could actually have been downgraded defensively.
  17. It would be great if we could get him at Alex Gordon's contract.
  18. Probably, my memory is terrible. But i did remember a random game vs. the red sox 12 years ago.
  19. I never feel good vs. knuckle ballers. I feel like there has only been one game that I remember where we tagged Wakefield and stole like 12 bags against him. Other than that, seems like it's always "Sox can't handle the change of pace!"
