  1. Yeah I just realized in STL trying to get to 70 without any signs may be difficult. Still think I could do it.
  2. Wow, STL still has to pay 100MM for the Edward Jones Dome.
  3. Chicago, IL to Columbia, Mo. I could do that in my sleep.
  4. Can he wear an eye patch for Opening Day just for nostalgia sake.
  5. Sweet mercy I don't have to watch 1 more garbage game from that team. I wonder if Gant will even win 23 games in his career at Mizzou that he just cost them.
  6. Ha, I was thinking of his second stint but man his stats were so much worse than I remembered. (Maddux)
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) That's your opinion. I prefer non cookie cutter announcers. DA, I think this happens every year. I love Farmer and DJ. I have 2-3 gutbusting laughs from their sense of humor per game. When a really intense part of a game occurs, I find DJs breakdown of hitter and pitcher thought process incredibly exciting and insightful. But for everyone else, it's just "he's so dry and doesn't say the score enough". I never notice.
  8. Yeah and I really think the fact that Hossa was signed and sold as the guy to put us over the top for cups, and then that happened. They may have won without him but I can't imagine him not being there for the first two. Contrast to players signed before who were sold in the same capacity: Ben Wallace, Muhsin Muhammed, can't think of much more, but it seemed like in the mid 00s when a lot of our teams were on the brink of breaking it wide open, the big acquisitions disappointed. Dye was not that, but he was a huge surprise that outperformed probably every FA expectation ever
  9. That's probably right. Rank: 1. Hossa - was signed as the piece to get us over the hump. That happened. 2. Jermaine Dye - from FA signing to top 5 MVP voting 3. Julius Peppers - DPOY and got bears to NFCC 4. AJP Don't follow cubs much. Maddux?
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 08:43 AM) Anatomy of a moment in macho foreign policy posturing So many hot takes. No kidding.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) Of course, if you're a broadcaster and you're good at your job, you have a 3 hour time block of talking to fill. Explaining why those matter in an interesting way is a way to fill time. It can't be less useful than stories about Yaz. Providing an explanation of BABIP every game would be really really intriguing. It's like how exciting it is on a plane when they tell you the safety features.
  12. Amazed how many people I know know this guy. Wish him luck.
  13. Very surprised Stone signed on. He seemed miserable last year.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) All I know is cut the turnovers. My lord the Bulls have so many awful turnovers. IF they just minimized their turnovers, they'd have a handful of more wins. But what a terrible week...4 in 5 days (which should never happen in the NBA given the physicality of the sport) and we have the walking wounded after last nights game (and we aren't even that deep into the 4 in 5 days). And Rose was looking pretty good offensively over past couple weeks. Jimmy, splitting the double team with two 6'8" guys is not a smart play 5 times in a row when they've stripped you every time.
  15. I really don't care about announcers bringing in advanced analytics. That does mean they need to wax poetic about RBI production, but I have to say, any time someone verbally talks about a players wRC+ it sounds really dumb. Use the graphics for it, but stuff like "This guys fWAR is through the ROOF" makes it sound like they are trying too hard. It's why Len Kasper is the worst announcer in the game and so terrible and awful. Looking forward to this guy.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) Anyone still listening to this? I'm thinking about bailing on the season after the first 3 episodes didn't pull me in. I can only listen if I'm doing chores.
  17. What does removing white sox from cespedes market do for his market? Push him to the white sox market? #market
  18. Cardinals for Davis does make a lot of sense.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) Concussion was fine. Felt the love story really messed up the pacing. IMO, Concussion was same type of movie as Spotlight and Big Short, and it shows how impressive those two were for making perfect choices in almost every way, including not putting any ridiculous love story angle and focusing on ensemble cast.
  22. I think babies should be banned from beach as well. They are a representation of human perversion.
  23. Is it New Hampshire's state legislature that has like 1 rep for every 3 people?
  24. The funny thing is I actually think there is room for this (went to a Missouri basketball game and a student group "the antlers" was chanting really ridiculous stuff that 19 year old dudes would think is funny but it is a family event), but they chose the things I would put in the "YOU CAN STILL SAY THIS" stuff. But lots of vulgarity in kids these days, I tell ya.
