  1. The Ole Ball Coach is retiring per twitter. No idea effective when. That program certainly declined last 2 years, but man, college football is not going to be as fun without Spurrier. His press conferences were hilarious performance art. Sorry to see what happens to the hatin ass spurrier columns.
  2. Was there a good interview about why price was used?
  3. I have never noticed that either. Maybe it's just that this is the first time you've stopped at a stop sign and are noticing what happens when cars decelerate?
  4. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber, Castro, Soler all contributed. One day someone will say the same of Abreu, Olt, Flowers, Saladino, Thompson............ Better to focus on the mets success than the cubs if you are a sox fan. Kills me that the cubs signed martinez though. I am already prepping myself for disappointment when we only spend the limit on int'l players next year. ("But we'll really clean up in 2017!!!")
  5. Wow, cubs got something special brewing. Power definitely is winning the day.
  6. Congrats to him, must be a crazy feeling to cover something and then go into affect it.
  7. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) This seriously couldn't have happened two days ago? Eh, wouldn't have mattered. This senior offensive line is brutal. But I really think 2017 is going to be a 2007
  8. I would guess it's about the same but you have runs of bad luck. I would not be surprised if Bears do well next year and it coincides with a suddenly healthy team. 2013 was brutal dline injuries, 2014 was fairly healthy but slausson hurt to lose. This year its fairly democratic.
  9. Rooting for the Jays. Honestly at this point it looks like the power heavy teams (yankees aside) have done well in the playoffs. It's so hard to string together multiple hits in playoffs, those solo home runs are such nice pads. Like when Crede kept us in those games with his solo hrs.
  10. I can't imagine looking at Jeff Fisher and wanting him at this point. Especially at USC which just seems to be a bit flashier. I could see Jeff Fisher at like, Iowa. I'm already bored thinking about his USC tenure and it hasn't started.
  11. Yeah, just tired of seeing these injuries every week.
  12. J. Rodgers moves to season-ending IR. Sigh.
  13. First off: After more came out about what a psycho barnes is and everything, I feel bad for laughing at the first story I linked above. Dude sounds like he is probably a chaotic terror to a whole bunch of people. I hope if he does not see jail for this that he gets help. Secondly: I was so pumped last preseason for the Rose factor. Now, I just haven't had much care to watch. Seems like we are jakcing up 3s and going for more possessions. We'll see. We've also been sitting a lot of our starters...which, what a novelty.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) Sarkisian coming to practice and games drunk is just crazy, and even crazier that it got to the point that the PLAYERS had to say something. Why isnt his staff going to Haden and talking about what is going on? It's just a terrible situation for all involved. But I agree. If the players/coaches were noticing this, crazy no one above had. I'll reserve judgment on his fellow coaches. That's a tough situation to handle when you are in a lower position.
  15. My cub friend was adamant they can find pitching and I laughed at him. But, looking at the NL...I think they are right. It's just not hard to find decent pitching.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Packers defense is better than the Packer offense right now. Weird to see. I don't know, when I watch the packers even when they are "struggling" I still kind of feel like if he needs to Rodgers will score at will. They were up 2 scores in both games last few weeks, didn't seem like the offense needed to go for more than taking care of ball.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Last year he gets it if he stays healthy. I'd say he's a better player now than 2010 and his linemates are better. I don't want to say he wouldn't, but I don't like when we do the "at this pace" stuff as inevitable. Even if he doesn't get injured he may have had a 2 week pointless streak. It just happens over the course of a season.
  18. I laughed at that last night for 10 minutes straight. So much goofy stuff happens in college football on a week to week basis. So much fuel.
  19. You are going to play in close games in the NFL, even bad teams are similar in talent to good teams. And in close games you will see it shake out 50/50. You want the bears to be playing in close games, because if they are getting blown out every week even by bad teams that means even the core you identified sucks. That's a worse position to be in. Now, if going into the final week we are 6-9 and the draft position can swing 5 spots or so with a win, I will not be happy if we win. But we aren't there yet, and Leno/Grasu improving, Goldman/Sutton/Ferguson staying on field hopefully, and Amos playing is really really good longterm. Leno really looks like he is at least a 2 deep LT. That's excellent from a 7th round pick.
  20. Um, no. I do not think longterm we are better off if our last two draft classes are irredeemable just so that we have a chance at 1 dynamic player. Beating bad teams is the first step to beating good teams. We just beat a team with 1/3 of our offensive line missing, a hobbled QB, 3 of our top receivers out, our starting safety, our starting ILB and starting rookies all over the place. That is what getting better looks like.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) I can't wait until Andy Reid is gone from the team. There is way too much talent on that roster to look so putrid game in, game out. The game has passed him by, he needs to retire. And now with the Charles injury I pretty much hope they lose every game from here on out. I feel like this is going to be a pretty terrible crop of coaches this year available. League seems to be really down this year.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Would you rather they finish with a top 3 pick or to see guys like Ferguson, Sutton, Goldman, Amos, Grasu, McPhee, and Wilson improve week by week? Give me the latter. If Goldman and Amos continue to play well along with Grasu, I trust Pace can find another good player at 15 just as he could at 3. Right. Especially since the bears were lacking playmakers especially on defense, where I feel like you can find top talent in the 10-15 range anyway. Unlikely to get that generational pass rusher, but usually find some cornerbacks/safeties/lbs. I mostly wanted to suck hard when it looked like we were too devoid of talent to make it up with scheme. We are starting to see the coaches find the best 11 and luckily they have been our younger players.
  23. It's an interesting group as I think that's all of the pop culture writers. I'd imagine they may just bring lowe/keri/barnwell/mays into the espn insider umbrella soon.
  24. I wasn't sure he wanted to start up the same thing. But after his podcast went up and the talk with Wesley Morris I thought Grantland would be over soon. It was still pretty solid after he left.
