  1. I don't think anyone is saying Kevin White is can't miss, I think what people are saying is when 12 months of scouting has identified Kevin White as the top prospect for your organization, should you instead draft a lower ranked player at 7 for need/belief that no successful organization wastes first round picks on receivers despite evidence to the contrary.
  2. There was clearly so much interest in trading up last night, surprised more didn't take advantage!
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 1, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) To be fair to Steve I believe the implication was "top 10" first round draft picks on WRs. The bears would have drafted Leonard williams if there, but just because your DE goes does not mean you still draft your next DE. We saw how that works out, his name was Michael Haynes. Get dynamic talent, the rest works itself out.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) Making the Super Bowl is not winning the Super Bowl. Great point man. You totally figured out the NFL!
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Dez Bryant, Larry Fitzgerald - 0 super bowl titles. You have to build inside out. I hate the pick. But don't worry, guy will go for 1,400 and 10 TD regularly, and the Bears will miss the playoffs regularly, too. Look at the teams winning Super Bowls. They don't invest in WR in the draft. I think the highest picked WR to win a super bowl the last decade Is Hakeem Nicks at 29. Seattle traded a 1st round pick for Percy Harvin. The Ravens spent a 2nd on Torrey Smith and just spent a 1st on Breshod Perriman. The Broncos spent a first on Demarius Thomas. Colts drafted Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison in first round. The 49ers drafted Michael Crabtree in the first round. Super Bowl team the Cardinals had Larry Fitzgerald. So no, the Patriots do not spend 1st rounders on Wide Receivers, but plenty of other super bowl teams spent draft resources for wide receiver talent. This is just a stupid hot take that means nothing.
  6. the bears needed dynamic super star players. period. They didn't need starters. They need stars. They think White will be a star. That's good enough for me.
  7. I love how everyone believes in BPA until push comes to shove and they want to draft need. Glad Pace did what he believes in. Marshall was the Ozzie Guillen of bears. His time was done.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) really, the list of good QBs taken in the past 10 years isnt all that long. 1st through 7th round. Elite QBs are mostly older QBs like Brady and Manning It's much better than it used to be. But, yeah, if you are going to get a good QB it will be in the first.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) I know the odds are against it, but let's not forget that the 2014 winning/2015 losing Super Bowl QB was drafted in the 3rd round. There have been draft classes with interesting QBs that were not in round 1. This is not one of those drafts.
  10. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Gruden compared him to Tim Brown, which is a comparison I like a lot. Wayne/Brown...either way, I'm all about that. I just hope we truly go BPA. I'd be happy with mostly of the guys projected to go in our range, except Scherff. He was extremely unimpressive against Tennessee in the bowl game. Dude was getting beat bad by our freshman DE. I see why most people say he projects as an OG. Yeah, if this class was as good as last years with olineman, I would love an olineman at 7.
  11. Sox Worst ERA in Baseball as of 4/29
  12. I just don't even see the point. If you aren't going to draft mariota or winston, you are just drafting a QB to draft a QB. If we use a pick, they'll be off the team in 2 years. I'd rather us pick up Blanchard again.
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) Do the Bears draft a QB? If so, what round? I'm thinking 3rd or 4th round. With only six picks, I doubt it.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) Who said that? There was a whole section in here about the "2 years of college" minimum.
  15. The idea that this is a problem of education levels I find not convincing.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) I know the standings just aren't that important for us here, but thought it was worth noting... Charlotte is alone in first place in their division, and Winston-Salem is in a virtual tie for first in theirs after winning 5 straight. The other two teams are 8-10 so its not as if they are getting destroyed either. Just nice to see some competitive life from teams other than Great Falls. I'm happy about this. Not because I think it means anything really, but because I felt bad that Charlotte opened up that new stadium last year and we gave them a horrendous pitching staff.
  17. I should have quoted Chisox in my last comment
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) Well, they both are projected to go in the 20s now. Getting picked at 8 and taking a discount would be likely on par with what they could expect to get. Yeah, still, I feel like everyone thought Hoffman would be late first until a week before draft and post-injury suddenly the "hoffman would still be selected top 15" started coming up.
  19. Aren't bears 7th overall?
  20. I'd still draft Ray though.
  21. Sorry, DGB can hope to be alshon jeffery, but not sure medium speed not very good route runners makes a very dynamic offense. Also, Jeffery is a crazy hard worker which I never caught from DGB. Alshon has also never been caught bragging about a pound of weed that wasn't his and threw his girlfriends roommate down the stairs.
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Odds are it's just more media, but I'm sure the fact that they're underpaid and their recruitment process lowering their standards year after year...it's probably a slight combination of both. Yeah, but not sure that's a bad thing. There certainly isn't more police brutality now, there has been the same amount for a very long time, which people are tired of.
  23. DGB is alshon jeffery.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 11:30 AM) Someone else highlighted this point in this thread, but I'd like to reiterate what they said. When speaking of Chicago, the requirements to become a police officer were lowered (it used to require 2 years of college, it now requires none), and as a known dangerous job that starts at about 43k a year, complete with a pension package that grows worse by the year (newer police pensions payouts are much lower than older), worse medical benefits, etc...it's hard to attract good people for such a dangerous job with crappy benefits. So, in saying that, is it a surprise that policing across the nation seems to be gathering more and more bad apples? An interesting TNC article probably frames my mind here but "So, in saying that, is it a surprise that policing across the nation seems to be gathering more and more bad apples?" ARe there more bad apples? Are there more media? And a bigger question: Are we using our criminal justice system to respond to situations that may not be helpful to include law enforcement in? The web that law enforcement is used for every menial inner city function is insane, and small mistakes end up trapping people into jail for actions that would never feature jail time for a middle income area. Is jail helping there?
