  1. So last I heard Toronto's energy was behind signing Melky. Is this the end of that shot?
  2. Also, for the record, I don't think any team trading for Cutler is a good move for that team. BUT, it seems to have been established that there is in fact interest in Cutler. So who are those teams? My main guess would be Tennessee because: - They have had no good QBs for years and years - They have a coach who seems to want to use veterans who suck over youth (see Sankey, Bishop behind Shonn Greene) - Their organization seems to be very stupid and boring and trading for Cutler seems like the spicy and stupid move that would make them feel productive.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) Jake Locker, Jay Cutler. Either way you aren't winning. Cutler may get you to .500 a couple times, but that's about it. Plus he makes a ton more. Better off drafting a young QB and if that doesn't work out, you draft another one. Right now the Titans are drafting 5th. There is a good chance they move up and the couple teams ahead of them probably aren't taking qb's. Good chance to get Mariota. I'd take that to over paying Cutler 17 million to get 6 or 7 wins. But it "seems" like you can win with him.
  4. Except his whole concept is horrendous for their personnel, and modern NBA in general.
  5. That Lakers team is so bad, and I hope some will now realize why I laughed at Byron Scott's retreat hiring again.
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) They would kill to get the QB who has the most turnovers in the league? Who is one of the most paid. I would think they would rather just draft one. I would have thought so, but I don't understand what that organization does. I feel like they are striving to be the best 7-9 team in the world.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:01 PM) What teams would legitimately trade for Jay Cutler? About the only team I can think of that would have any semblance of interest is legitimately Buffalo, and that scares the holy bejesus out of me. Tennessee has had garbage qbs since McNair. Send him back to Nashville. Homecoming, etc.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Well any QB is a bad fit for Tice. He's a lousy OC. Martz you need weapons and an oline, which we had none of. Jay was actually a fantastic fit for what Martz wanted to do, we just didn't have the personnel to execute it without getting our QB killed. I agree. I still hate that they 2011-12 year fell apart. Before Jay's injury that offense was rolling, with our studly WRs of Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett, Roy Williams and Devin hester, and oh, what an offensive line. I'm not sure this line is considerably better, it may be that we just get ball out faster, but man that season could have been great. Then Caleb Hanie happened.
  9. Was there more to this Cutler trade thing from Michael Wright? Is he just confirming bears COULD trade cutler (and like, ok duh) or that there are rumors they WILL.
  10. I"m pretty excited for Mizzou this year. There are no real expectations since they are so young, so I get to just sit back and relax. But, obviously, would like to see progression as the year goes on.
  11. Irrationally scared of trading away prospects after I just spent an hour reading the fangraphs article on our farm. Oh how sad I will be if I wasted time on that.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) The hard part is, if only Obama care coverage cut approved rates, then you end up with more doctors who will just flat not accept that coverage. It is already happening and would continue to expand. It does seem that there is so much excessive fat in the entire billing process, etc. Part of it is because of all the complications in how to get something approved, you end up having to have so much overhead with people specialized on the billings, etc, to ensure they maximize the revenue, get paid, etc, that those costs ultimately just push up overall costs (got to make it up somehow). Unless you are referring to medicaid for obamacare coverage, it wouldn't dictate rates. But even in the medicare/medicaid refusals, i highly doubt that number has increased enough to matter. The "cash only" doctors make a lot of noise but the client base for them is too small to be a game changer. The point of ppaca was to allow individual consumers to get group leverage for insurance. PPACA actual did a lot for billing processes to help with costs and they seem to be doing a decent job with what little data we have on it. Costs have, again, slowed the past 5 years and did not accelerate rapidly in 2014. Most PPACA plans are coming in below last years. This bill has been remarkably successful so far.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 06:46 PM) maybe just a little bit. That origin story has only been told at least 5 seperate times since Tim Burtons batman premiered(Batman Begins, Gotham, multiple animated shows and now BvS) Ha, k good. I get that it was the guys prime motivation but I'm tired of seeing a new dough faced bruce wayne run that scene every movie iteration.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 07:42 PM) My personal favorite will always be Lieberman. Trying to find a way to sabotage it close to the time there was a final, passable bill, in December of ~2009 (I think) he did a press conference where he outlined a plan to replace everything that was being talked about with a proposal to drop the Medicare age to 55. As soon as all the Democrats said "Absolutely OMFG YES" he decided that was a terrible idea and never spoke of it again. I actually forgot about his charade. Spector was more passable with PO than him. I remember being pretty happy with Burris around that time because he was pushing PO as far as he could. Absolute P.O.S. taking that Blago appointment but I he was an excellent vote in 2010.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) I think they should just get Derrick to wear the old Kobe Crazy 8s. Those have great ankle support. I forgot who wrote it but there was an article about how Nike loved working with Kobe because he would come in there and basically say "I want a shoe with top ankle support. I also want it to be a low top" And the engineers would take that impossible challenge and figure it out best they could.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) I know I probably say this every year about this time, but there is a very simple way to do this: I just got my listing of Federal employee plans/premiums for 2015. There are nationwide FFS plans ranging from $375/month for an individual up to $1650/month for a family, plus there are dozens of regional HMO plans. There is no reason that these plans couldn't be offered to everybody. Much easier solution than the convoluted law we ended up with. Talk to Nelson/Landrieu

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) So Batman vs Superman is going to visit a never-before-told backstory. We are going to find out exactly what happened to Bruce Waynes parents! http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-ba...ers-set-videos/ Is this sarcasm?
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) The fee is for the year you're filing the taxes for, so picking up coverage in 2015 wouldn't help you meet your requirements for 2014, plus you need to be insured for at least 9 months out of the year. Interesting.
  19. I love this mayor. I want to move to minneapolis for it's low unemployment and awesome mayor.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) Well, that's laughable. Where are they going to go to make more money, even if they took a pay cut here? A competing single payer system? There is nowhere for them to go, and they won't just "stop practicing medicine", as it's likely their only method to make a living. I agree with what you say, but with comments like these I'm just wondering how much of the 2009-10 health care fight you remember. Cutting doctor pay would have been impossible. Nationalized insurance is a way easier sell than nationalized health care.
  21. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) I wonder if someone can explain how the tax penalty works. We have insurance through my wife’s employer. Our oldest daughter just turned 18 in August and just started her first PT job about a month ago. She was included on our insurance plan but we have been fighting with idiots at the insurance company because they kept insisting they needed more information to prove that we are US citizens. Apparently birth certificates, driver’s licenses and school ids weren’t good enough somehow. Somewhere in the midst of all this, they kicked our daughter off. We found later it was somehow related to the fact that my wife was still going by her maiden name when she had her (we were 18 at the time). This made zero sense because we had our second daughter before we were married as well. We’ll be able to get her back on before the year ends and she only works about 12 hours a week so I doubt her yearly income will even be enough to make the penalty enforceable but I’m not 100% sure on that. Also FWIW, we found out that our insurance costs will actually go down next year. It’ll be around $60/month. That's an interesting question. If you had no insurance for 2014 but are insured at tax time 2015, do you pay a penalty? I would guess no but I'm not sure.
  22. It also had the bundled payments to help with this. They actually threw a ton of small changes at the hope that any stuck. Probably a good idea because they had no idea what was the reason behind the explosing for 30 years and did not have political capital for single payer.
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) Remember the Atlanta game when we thought the Bears turned a corner... RIP 2014. Haha, I was thinking about when I listend to the first half of the dolphins game thinking the Bears still had to win a game. Oh how long ago that feels now.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 02:27 AM) Oh my goodness jesus H christ. So in a little over an hour, we've got Davis surpassing peak KG, Hakeem, Duncan and being more valuable going forward than a top 5 player of all-time, injury proof, physical marvel and the greatest offensive wing talent of all-time? #soxtalk LOL coming from you. I do think it's interesting to think about what a team can accomplish with a dominant big man. We haven't seen it since 09-10 Dwight, but he was less of an offensive player than AD appears to be. In modern NBA, is there a limitation to how far you can go with a player who needs others to get him the ball? Is it offset by defense? Will be a fun couple of years with him. Man, if Charlotte got him as they should have that draft, they would be terrifying.
