  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:36 PM) Lavine at 16 or 19 would be a huge coup. Guy at a minimum will be an elite defender at his position and has a lot of ultimate upside. We aren't talking about a top 5 pick here. And having watched UCLA, he continued to get better and better. Lots of upside for a guy slated to go somewhere in the teens. He continued to get better and better? Didn't he score like 6 points total in his last 5 games? He wouldn't get off Thibs bench for 3 years.
  2. Also, just an aside, but I can't believe the Lavine love. That kid is so raw, he reminds me of Tyrus Thomas hype except the NBA has gotten smarter.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) If we were coming off a 35 win season, with a #10 pick, we would be worse off. I'd rather the shot at Melo then the 10th pick. Screw that. Nothing franchise changing about a 10th pick (at least not in the near term). Could it hit, sure, but we have 16 and 19 in a deep and young draft. Give me a Euro player + Levine or another youngster with some upside (or grab a shooter) and I'm content. Look at the Lakers. That's what we'd be. A team with an expensive oft-injured "star", an aging and broken Gasol (Noah if we had tanked), and a whole lotta garbage around em. But hey! The #7 pick! So excited are they they are trying to turn that into Klay Thompson.
  4. Meh, that seems unlikely. If Melo chooses Houston then that forces NYK hand. If I was Houston I'd try to get a 3 way send trash to NYK and get better assets (draft picks, etc) for Harden.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) Zach Lowe also pointed out that he's refusing to re-sign with anyone, so he's basically an expiring contract, hence the deal that was made. Right, this is why I didn't believe DBAHO that he had value. When you are basically committing to FA and have 1 year left, you aren't netting a big haul.
  6. Why exactly is Melo a major upgrade over Harden? To me that's basically creating the same team. Except somehow worse at defense without Asik.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) Hence why Noah and Thibs are f***ing morons for not wanting to tank this year. It would have been a perfect opportunity to get a good lottery piece going forward. Instead we can all brag about coming in 2nd in the division and bowing out in the 1st round. The bulls tanking would have meant that their team is not nearly as close as we think it is (i.e. one major player), and that our assets would have been much less attractive.
  8. I find that reasoning about Adams to be specious.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Has howard really regressed that much? Yes. They were one of the worst defensive teams with talent that I saw last year.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 05:49 AM) Why the f*** would you trade a first round draft pick for Omer Asik? Good god is that stupid. NBA GMs never fail to baffle me Eh, let's see what protections are on it.
  11. So if bulls sign melo there is like no chance mirotic can be signed. Really the only way I see him hers is if bulls strike out on all options. Edit: guys money is a real thing. Aflallo makes 6 mill, that means Gibson is gone and butler if you have Mel.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) I don't think Bosh opts out. I'm inclined to think that his value has declined significantly due to his reduced role on the Heat. Is he going to get over $20 million a year in FA? That would surprise me at this point. Right, and wade even more so. That's why I'm surprised. I thought they'd all opt in for one more year before this.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Quietly I keep thinking the Bulls are much more in on Love then anyone expects. If you get Love then you still have ability to do some finagling if another superstar wants to join (as long as if you can get Love without giving up all of your tradeable assets). People will say, what about cap space, but in this era, if you have 2 guys that want to come, you can find ways to move contracts, imo / ultimately get the other team to agree to some form of sign and trade. I agree. At worst you have two 25 year old stars to build around.
  14. Just realizing how bad the east will be if lebron leaves. If rose stays healthy that's like auto finals appearance.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) They did everything right in 2010 too but missed out and got blamed for it. This is why many bulls fans would prefer the team stop trying and planning for fa perios four years apart for free agency periods and trade. Love should be priority number one. With Thompson not being included, getting Afflalo to package with taj is a good deal. Even if he's not traded this summer, they need to keep at it until the point where Love says there is no way he's signing this season.
  16. Yesterday I was driving and listening to all the rumors, this time, I actually think the Bulls management is doing all possible to get one of the big acquisitions this year. My favorite non superstar offseason would be somehow getting Aflallo AND still getting number 8 from sac. Aflallo /McDermott, mirotic and keeping MDJ is actually a lot more shooting to the team.
  17. I am shocked by that. Man things get a bit more fun though don't they?
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Rose-scrap heap-Anthony-Love-Noah. Still have to wonder if the bench would be good enough. Anthony isn't happening. Love would give you two stars that are young. You'd have time to build bench.
  19. Mainly due to contract but also due to fit, Taj is a much more attractive piece than Lee, who has 2 years left.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 07:54 PM) If not there is simply nothing they could have done, but I'm sure we'll still hear it. LOL it already begins. This is why bulls front office behaves the way they do.
  21. Klay is not yet offered. Proposed asking prices are not final deals.
  22. BTW Marc Steins most recent Love article did not even mention a Bulls. This is such a hack organization, the only difference between the Bulls and Atlanta Hawks was the 2008 lucky draft.
  23. If the bulls wanted to land superstars they could land them. They don't want to.
