QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) Except Rubio is at least 1/2 a Tea Party guy right now. I don't think he's unelectable at all....if he can continue to move to the middle without completely alienating his former sponsors. After 8 years of Obama, surely they'd take him over another Clinton, notwithstanding the fact that the economy actually prospered while the Clintons were in office after recovering from the early 90's recession. Rubio has no constituency. If you are going to try and get a bipartisan bill passed you kinda, haveta deliver the votes from your party. Now both sides don't like him.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) You are starting a new franchise in Seattle. The NBA, in a strange move, says you can choose one of two players as your franchise cornerstone whose salary won't count against your cap. You can have Derrick Rose or Stephen Curry. You're an expansion team, so you don't have any existing pieces to consider in your choice. Who do you choose? I'd choose Rose. I'm assuming he gets back. But something about Curry's ankles scares me more than Roses' long injury. Just seems like he'll have nagging injuries like that a lot.

Derrick is just not seeing the court yet. I know he was getting a lot of contact, but if I was a ref, I'd have a hard time calling a foul on the defense when the offensive player just ran straight into a three dudes under the hoop. He's figuring out what real seams are by attacking everything resembling them. I'd rather he let the game come to him a bit more.

Rose just looks horrible. 6/22 stop trying to finish into triple teams.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 02:44 AM) These delay of games are so f***in stupid. Only NBA would try and speed up game by making players walk up court, stop, shoot, walk back, and start play.

Yeah no push. I don't know what to bet. I block sigs at work so not sure that's really a threat to me. This is a sucker bet though, I don't know how I can lose. They are on pace to go 82-0.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) They will easily lose 60 games this year. Sample size, people. Right but winning 22 games is a far cry from people thinking this would be the worst team of all time. The article wasn't arguing they'd be a playoff team, just that they would be a lock to win over 17 (especially with other teams that will be tanking)

It's funny, yesterday a sixers fan friend of mine posted an article about how the 6ers are not trying to lose this season, but just didn't care about winning. Sure enough, team looks like it's a lot of efficient role players who will play hard.

Congratulations to Jake Peavy & Matt Thornton
Happy for Jake. Glad we've been able to send quality vets to teams that had a chance, like with Contreras.

I commented to my friend about how I thought Tony Snell missing the 3 straight 3pointers fed to him in the same possession was more embarrassing than an open dunk. He disagreed and gave this list : level 1: getting eyed (pull up in your face, usually following trash talk) level 2: getting crossed over level 2.5 (my addition): Taj Gibson clapping at Bosh to come at him only to easily get taken level 3: getting dunked on level 4: missing dunk level 5: ankle breaker crossover level 6: scoring in your own basket Anything we're missing?

I thought I was so clever trading for R. White. I hope I can play him this weekend and it's worth it.

I'm reminding myself or what Bulls looked like in Nov/Dec of last year. Some thoughts: I think I have a post from last year saying Bellinelli was one of the worst bball players I'd seen. He was truly awful for the first month. And it reminded me how we all thought last years bench would be terrible, only to be lamenting in May how we were going to replace them. Dunleavy I hope is going thru same struggles that Bellinelli went through and will come out better for it. Snell - I just really haven't seen anything from him yet to get excited about. I was pumped about Butler from get-go. Trapping Rose - This was the old GSW treatment that frustrated the hell out of Rose. It blows my mind it can work for whole game, in these cases Hinrich and Jimmy have to be there for the help and they are good enough passers to HIT that forward that's free. If you can hit Noah/Boozer, they are great passers with each other and it should provide 6-8 pts in easy buckets that should prevent that from happening. Bulls need to eliminate this from other teams repertoire. Lastly - team will need time to play together. Heat played a hell of a game and had their role players on fire from 3. They are still unbeatable IMO when Battier is on (which seems to be any game 7, dude has some intangibles).

Why Texas is kicking your state's ass
Time magazine is really ahead of the world on this. They have to be the first magazine to write about Texas's growth I've seen. Great job Time magazine!
