  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) The Bears always seem like their record is better than their performance. One reason is turnovers. The other reason is special teams. One thing I liked about Lovie was his dedication to excellence on special teams. Between their kicker, punter, and returners, the Bears are always winning the field position battle. I just hope that the roughing the kicker penalty and blocked PAT are not a sign that the new regime has de-emphasized special teams. I mean, through three games it's safe to say our special teams have noticeably dropped off. That's stuff we rarely saw that we've seen in each game. I find it funny Decamillis came from the Cowboys, b/c it's exactly what it seems. The huge plays are there, but the boneheaded lose you the game plays are there too.
  2. Jennings was on Brown on his end of half touchdown, and Tillman was out most of second half. He had a bad game vs. Green but also was suffering of dehydration in the game after his long int return. I think we will see a hobbled Tillman more often b/c of his age, but a lot of what was driving me crazy last night was poor safety positioning again and Briggs not getting back far enough on dropbacks. He's leaving huge caps on the field. Frey as well. I've been completely unimpressed with Briggs, he had some nice rushes but he had plenty of oppos for them.
  3. Game. Glad we won. Still unsure on this team. 400 yds passing to this Pitt team? Hard to swallow.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 03:32 AM) Oh they remembered that holding is a penalty Slauson and long have held all game.
  5. Just a reminder this was one of the worst offenses in NFL at plays longer than 20 yards moving in chunks at will. I'm o so confident about our d rest of game.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 03:03 AM) Yikes, season-ending injury for Melton there? Will anyone notice?
  7. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 02:50 AM) Defense has been pretty hard to watch thus far under Marc Trestman. Tr secondary is being picked apart by a very average receiving group Just embarrassing zone coverage. Briggs has been bad, our safeties worse, and Frey worst of all.
  8. It's been such a weird day of upsets, hoping Bears don't come out sloppy like other teams today.
  9. A Bradshaw looked like the best back in Indy by far.
  10. Sigh. Forced to start mcgahee today with rice and mjd out (if not literally basically vs Seattle). I wonder how much I'll lose by
  11. Obviously, the time to give up on a region is when a large number of their countries economies are growing steadily during a global slowdown..
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) NOBODY CARES ABOUT REAL LIFE NFL Mine had fantasy relevance!
  13. Just a little more info, Africa is a giant continent with many different countries, and a lot of those countries have been doing very well! http://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-rel...l-wealth-wisely In fact, the US indifference to Africa has been a detriment as many euro and asian companies have taken advantage of their growing economies. They indeed have cars, and houses, and are real people! It's amazing!
  14. Yeah you know what? f*** it i'm on team Miami! I need Mike Wallace to be productive, so I join wite.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) I have a feeling many cities, including Chicago, will soon be war zones with so many random killings. Life is not valued anymore. People will just bring machine guns to places or shot guns and just start firing. This incident is AWFUL. I'm sick of this s***. Why would anybody going to the high school game at Gately Stadium tonight feel confident they'll make it home alive?? I'm so sick of f***ing violence and can anybody dispute my prediction of the warzones in major cities in the future? It's going to keep GETTING WORSE. I agree it's awful and I'm glad someone was actually disturbed by this. But keep in mind that violence has plunged nationwide, especially in cities. As bad as Chicago is right now, it's this noticeable because the coastal cities have done so much better. The rustbelt cities have not seen the population resurgence. I hope things can get better fast, because so many children are dying right now.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) Life in the City of Chicago. Things weren't exactly rosy under Daley, but he was fairly immune from criticism during his reign. Kass was the only one I ever saw take Daley to task. Everyone else was scared, weak, or both. I think in terms of keeping the major functions of the city working, Daley was better. Rahm only seems concerned with taking national political controversies and pummeling them into the local level. I just want someone to get the trains running on time and not have the one major city where crime isn't declining. But I totally disagree with you on that criticism idea. The chicago reader was by far the most ruthless in its assault on Daley. My favorite article I've ever read was in the reader. It started with an anecdote of a domestic abuse incident, and them asking the women why she keeps coming back, and she responds "It's all I know". They immediately pivoted to Daley in the article. It was brilliant.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) I'm not sure it is really that much worse, just for whatever reason no one talked about it when it was Daley in charge. Not sure what 'it' you are referring to. CTA has been noticeably worse and more expensive. Road maintenance may be better. His parking deal correction was hilarious. Crime has been terrible. I guess the only thing I can credit him for is overseeing deregulation of food trucks and not yet having put up regulatory barriers to the new car sharing and uber issues.
  18. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) It sounds like you have a bit of a problem with cars? Don't like the civilized world where we have nice things like cars that allow to make those kinda of trip? Rather live ina country where that isn't even an option? Great! Africa will take you I'm sure. You'll live a nice progressive lifestyle until you're burned alive for being a witch. Africa has cars.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) During Barry Sanders’ 10-year career, he averaged 4.98 yards per carry, scored a rushing touchdown every 0.64 games and averaged 2.30 receptions per game. Through LeSean McCoy’s four-plus seasons, he’s averaged 4.75 yards per carry, scored a rushing touchdown every 0.52 games and averaged 3.70 receptions per game. I'm not sure I find this that interesting. The thing that separates the great RBs from the good ones is consistency and longevity.
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 05:51 PM) 10:00 on a warm night is not that crazy. The 2AM shootings of the 7 year olds are more questionable. At some point McCarthy or Rahm have to be taken to task on this. Who is going to protect the $100M park? Especially if parents/grandparents have odd work hours, they might not have better hours to spend time with them. Can't believe how every major function of the city has declined so much since Rahm has taken over. I guess biking is better.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) The Birdman got Catfished http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/...ly-complex-case This was pretty insane reading.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Alex Smith!!! Ha, yeah, forgot the biggest parallel.
