yeah, there are really cheap lap tops. Really cheap mp3 players. But they look like s*** and operate to me, I like OSX more and haven't had to deal with half the s*** most of my friends have dealt with with their PCs. And as far as apps go, blackberry isn't even close to the number of apps, so ipod touch/ipod. And further, what we are boiling down to is the fact that many, many of the people that shelled out the cash for apple products really loved the quality.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 04:20 AM) I don't really get apple, and don't understand why people are in love with them. They just come up with new crap all the time that no one needs and way overprice it. um, what? Yeah i guess people don't NEED a laptop or a computer or ipod or phone. True, it's not water. But these are all things that many people do really want. None of this is that bizaare. This is essentially an answer to netbooks and kindels. You won't be seeing it in sharper image.

I wouldn't put too much in the price, there was a huge drop in price for the iphone, i don't expect the same after 5 mos. or whatever since that pissed off a lot of people, but I don't see it being 600 or more. Also, it works better than a netbook for commercial use for the following: browsing and hd movies. That will have a lot of commercial appeal for dumb teenagers and traveling. In addition to working as your own kindel/school. Plus it removes a weak point of lap tops that a lot of problems happen: the joint.

The Democrat Thread
I'm not talking about Ben Nelson/lieberman/Landrieu, I'm talking about f***ing GRASSLEy AND SNOWE, who negotiated, got what they wanted and still vote no, if you can't understand this concept and the R under their names then don't talk on it.

After 8 mos. of negotiating with snowe she said it was "too rushed" even though it was damn near the same bill as the baucus plan, that she voted for. They weren't negotiating in good faith

A comparison of the Twins' and White Sox best offensive combinatio
Will one of you answer how willfully neglecting to improve a key offensive position that can easily be filled NOW, BEFORE it hurts us in the season is a wise idea?

QUOTE (b-Rye @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) These "Future" stats are stupid. Anything can happen, Jones can hit .290 with 35 HR 90RBI or .180 5HR 20RBI before he's cut... anything can happen. Yeah, well the latter is much more likely than the former. And you should try and put together a team based on greater likelihoods.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) A competent leadoff hitter was not what you were arguing. You were talking about Wise, not Podsednik. Wise honestly made very little impact at all last year, he hurt his shoulder very early on, was injured for a month and a half, made "The catch", and was a bench player for the rest of the season. If you want to argue that a competent leadoff hitter cost the Sox the division last year, well I disagree with that too. the bullpen couldnt hold a lead, and the entire team couldnt hit for about a month. If you want to talk about a specific position that truly cost the Sox from the start, I think it was fields at 3B. If Beckham started the season in the majors, I think the hitting slump that killed them in May through late June would have been drastically minimized, and even then I understood why Fields was up and Beckham was in the minors. The Sox had to see if Fields was worth anything This team as a whole is constructed better than the team that started last year IMO. Because of this I think that they can weather any sort of deficiency that the lack of a true DH could bring. And like I said, IMO Dewayne wise began last season as our starting CF and leadoff hitter. We had an incredibly sluggish 2 months during that time. Who knows how many games were lost. And yes, JD tanked, so we all could see just how dramatic an impact having a s*** hitter in position of generally high production can be. But luckily we have another beckham down on the farm. guyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Thsi is an easy problem to fix, all the more maddening that they refuse to act. So no, i think its a retarded game plan to lose more games than you should jsut because now you can upgrade (likely more expensive) in the future.

A comparison of the Twins' and White Sox best offensive combinatio
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) He didnt finish the year as the starter. They acquired rios and never looked back. There is a contingency plan in place at all times with KW. With Colon and Wise last year, it was Peavy and Rios. KW isnt stupid, Im pretty sure he understands what he has and where his deficiencies are, he has his reasons why he isnt acting, we just dont know what they are. Right, and we lost the division. What if we had a competent leadoff hitter to start the season? And then we get a hitter who hits awful to correct it. I'd rather just pay a few mill tonot have awful production from a generally great offensive spot in the lineup.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) Honestly I dont think it will end with those two as the combo, but thats just me. Thats why Im not crying about it. I thought that last year with DeWayne wise. I learned my lesson.

Tim Tebow to appear in anti-abortion Super Bowl ad
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) You would really take medical advice from someone other than a Doctor? Do you really want the Tebows to tell you all the medical options? This is a human interest piece, not a college course. When an athlete does an anti-drug (steroid) ad, do we criticize because of the lack of medical information in the 30 second ad? lots of people take medical advice from people other than doctors. Many industries are based off of this.

Failed terrorist attack in Detroit
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 01:56 AM) It's inappropriate for me to comment in too much detail about this specific incident, but like I said earlier in the thread, just because someone claims they did something on behalf of al-Qaida doesn't mean they are actually al-Qaida, and just because they claim credit for something doesn't mean they directed it (hell, they believe they single-handedly caused the subprime mortgage crisis and that they're locked into an eternal struggle with our civilization, and they're on the right side of us and our civilization is in decline, so take their more grand claims with a grain of salt). There's different layers of al-Qaida and then there's a whole bunch of wannabes out there. Now, I'm not saying whether or not Great Balls of Fire was actually working for al-Qaida, but everything I said in the previous paragraph should be considered in all circumstances. Besides, we shouldn't really be getting too hung up on what basically amounts to petty details. I personally believe UBL himself doesn't even really matter, in terms of the global jihadist movement. He's not even close to what he was 10 years ago. UBL is like tom cruise

The Jim Thome Saga Ends
QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) I don't know shack, some of the opinions there are similar to those here. I don't read game threads on the message baords because thsoe are exactly the same as postgame calls. Same tone, same overreaction, very few level-heads. The difference is, in a thread like this, people have usually had time to think about something before they get all foamy-mouthed. I agree that I'd like a better option or somebody that maybe doesn't have the same OPS but it is more useful in other ways and less likely to hurt himself. Thome did a good job last year of staying healthy, given his history and his age. However, that age is very much working against him and as the years go on, the more and more likely it is he'll spend significant time on the DL. The one problem with going into a season with "everything you need" is that if you don't have unlimited resources, you won't have enough room to maneuver when you discover the needs you didn't know you had. Take for example the '06 team: they went into that season in pretty good shape, had a maxed-out payroll, and were the clear favorites in the division. It was unforeseeable that Cotts and Politte were not only going to nothave years like they did the previous year but that they were going to have absolutely terrible years. It became clear they needed bullpen help when it looked like they were set prior to the season. If you are not the Yankees, flexibility is a good thing when you need to be able to react to the holes you didn't know you were going to have because of injury or sudden, unexpected drop-off. It's not that bad. You forget how poor the leadoff situation was because it's not happening now. True, when april 2nd rolls around i'll first be reminded of how awful pierre is before being reminded 4 abs later how atrocious our DH rotation is. And I think its absolutely silly to go into the season knowing you have a gigantic hole at DH just so you know you have some resources to fill it later.

NBA Slam Dunk Idea
I've really enjoyed dwight howard the last few years. Usually for big men it's hard to make their dunks look "cool" because it looks so effortless. The leg-kicking of jordan and smaller plays looks so much more poetic. But Howard's are so creative and damn near violent. I love watching him in the dunk contest.
