Yeah I'm not a big morosi guy. He is often a bit early. I feel like Morosi was the guy touting Sale to the Nats? Often feels he's the start of a process but never the final destination.

That was a pretty good showing against the Vikings, even the drives that stalled had some pretty terrible drops. That defense has chewed teams up so dealing with it with a banged up Oline and rookie QB I think was definitely a feather in his cap. Also starting to agree that last year he may have felt more limited in the Reich offense (more Reid-ish tree) than this year. Also he just seems like a coach vs. Flus who seems to want timid guys.

There is a big push for Thomas Brown now. I'm very leery because I know Bears will make wrong decision, so if he IS a good coach it will be elsewhere. But I just look at Antonio Pierce. There was such a media push and good feeling push for them to hire him, esp after Bisaccia. And now it's 8 months in, he brought in a terrible staff, he offers nothing. I just cannot remember the interim ever working out, only times it SHOULD have (Arians, but nobody was firing their HC for having cancer). The difference here is really that he's bringing an improved offense, but unless he has plans on a staff overhaul, no thanks.

I read Bowdens article on Crochet market and here are my thoughts:

I would define any pitching prospect not in the top 15-20 as "not blue chip".

The red sox top ten update from BA had me salivate, such a bummer how expensive position prospects are in deals like this.

gotcha - learned today too that he said it COULD be used for scoring reviews and ...yeah what a dumb rule.

I missed that part of game but saw the outrage. I thought pereira said they couldn’t use boundary footage but the footage *proved* he was in, but bears fans were going nuts on how stupid it was they couldn’t use it. I feel like I missed something.

100%. And while we got the onside kick, we had another blocked kick and that absolutely insane muff. I’m still blown away how stupid that was.

Eh - if he does that they don’t go for 2 the second time, it’d be the same thing.

On the one hand - thank god Caleb looked awesome, and now we can get a real coach. on the other, the bears are selecting the coach. Er…sorry, some retired consultant will.

As soon as I saw the defensive alignment flus put out I knew they’d convert. Maybe blitz the backup coming in cold? Naw

Absolutely one of the stupidest teams I’ve had pleasure of watching. No level of football have I seen a player be that dumb.

The main way I'd change my priors based on that heyman report is more like "the mets may be less interested than I thought prior to reading that tweet"

Non-Tender Day
bleh I hate blaming that. This was a body type that had no room to physically improve. His approach that was vaunted at Cal is probably a lot easier to exploit when pitchers can make you more uncomfortable in the strike zone, esp when he doesn't punish anything enough to be scared. There was probably a 99th percentile version of Vaughn that works out and would have been better prepped in another org. But for as highly ranked as he was, this feels like a player who was destined to end up on the white sox or rockies.

I'm gonna put $5 on him being DFA'd by June.

Sucks so much that Caleb has had two game winning fourth quarter drives, something we were desperate for the last several years…and we lost both.

correct. Though if he did that, they'll keep him, and once again i'll have to convince myself "but maybe it will work for us?" That said...I just don't want to see the players fail.

So 3 moves Poles could have averted had he just read local media: - Chase Claypool - Shane Waldron - Nate Davis

Given the reports of how tepid he is, I’m really thinking the “he wouldn’t be a guy they push me out for” was a part of flus’ thinking. Getting a former head coach in Kliff? That’d be threatening.

Craziest thing with Caleb by far has been his overthrowing guys by 30 yards on deep balls. It would have completely changed offense if he hit a few more of those. But I also just still have a hard time believing that's a long-term thing.
