  1. They just attached picks with him
  2. Man that is horrific. We didn’t trade lavine last year or in summer because it was too bad a package, wait a year, and win way too many games to where we are barely in running for a great pick…all to guarantee getting our pick back this year? I really apologize to Garpax. Doing nothing was better than Akmes do something at first then do nothing
  3. Poor timing by us. If we knew how much he valued defense we could have given em Caruso for Doncic
  4. I mean that’s where you have to give the lakers credit. They believe they are a star driven franchise. They have a reputation for getting them. So of course the mavs call them. They also have stars and not fake stars like lavine.
  5. Among the craziest parts of this is it feels like the mavs were trying to limit their market to just LA
  6. It’s amazing how an nba team just believing they are a premier franchise that has to be premier just falls into these deal constantly. Like if you are the Mavs, and you say “we are trading Luka, best offers only”…you are telling me you doing get Rudy gobert like trade back at least?
  7. Well, he didn’t really show that it wasn’t just Reid as the reason for his strong offenses in KC while in Washington, then just had a miserable season in ucla. So I guess it just kind of validated that it was mostly Reid + talent.
  8. One of the most telling things that happened was when a massive story (like 10k words) came out tracing how the nuggets methodically built a champion featured and named so many people from their front office…and AK wasn’t mentioned once. It takes a truly incompetent person like Michael reinsdorf to go to one of the best front offices in the game and identify the one lazy, inconsequential person to lead the team.
  9. Well - i'm with you that spending shouldn't equal a great bullpen. There's been plenty of examples of that in mlb in last many years. But ZIPs doesn't necessarily favor that, anyway. It's been a really big scouting/pitching development issue for the sox since a while. Hahn didn't just pay a bunch for bullpen because that's the only stuff JR would let him pay for, though that is about 50% of it, but also because we just were not getting enough out of our own farm. Big time prospects like kopech/crochet and bummer kept them afloat. But just terrible success imo. This should be something that we can see change quickly though, always plenty of decent bullpen arms prop up for a year on waivers/cheap fa.
  10. I'm also just in general, granted I don't watch nba right now, floored that Lavine was brought back to the bulls and it has been the best case scenario. He's played really well, he's been a good sport. And yet he is still apparently an absolute negative in the minds of every other NBA gm. I've seen so many borderline bad nba scorers still get passed around for decent hauls, but Lavine broke everyones back. The NBA found the guy they can't suffer to pay as a max.
  11. I am surprised how upset people are about the OC, but part of me thinks this is what happens when the bears twitter accounts do the 'CHECK OUT THIS STAFF' stuff with rumors. OL coach I'm still hoping has some huge swing like Munchak but we'll see.
  12. I just don't trust at all the bulls to make a move like that and end up better off. Theyll trade for him and think he's their new core rather than a part of a paper clip trade.
  13. That's what has been surprising. Though last year they shot themselves in the foot by panic trashing their initially scouted group only to see that group recover and be decent while what they brought in was bad the rest of the year. Surprised they haven't tried more 'failed Starter' type to give em a shot in bullpen
  14. I'm genuinely amazed how uninteresting and bad our bullpen pipeline and mlb talent is. few arms are even interesting. This has been a thing for 5 years, after they put crochet in there it's just been a lot of trash cycling through from AAA where a guy with an 9 ERA was our hope to be good in the majors.
  15. Can't say I'm surprised, I had a hard time justifying him as a top prospect after a full 1.5 years struggling. Signs of life at the end of the year, but he needs to show he can hit velocity and be more consistent. The Quero / Teel was nice, he called Quero a no-doubter behind the plate. Though believing in their bats, neither seem to be likely to produce big power there. Braden was a great write-up, and he thinks he'll be at least a 55 in right. Here was quero's Quero remains a solid-average defender with an average arm, still working on some of the finer points of the position but also a no-doubt catcher whose bat looks like it’ll make him a regular there. He may be better off in some kind of soft platoon role, depending on how much of the improvement against righties was real, but there’s still everyday ceiling here. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6078454/2025/01/27/top-100-mlb-prospects-2025-keith-law/
  16. Kliff was a huge part of this, but the thing is with Daniels he always gets yards. Very rarely do they get negative plays, and then he is so insanely composed and fast as he’ll, they have 4 downs every drive to make a first. They just never punt. The story with Caleb and the bears offense this year was just so so so many penalties and sacks and 3 yard loss runs. Always behind the chains. When they weren’t, it worked well.
  17. Was relieved when Biggs affirmed Allen was likely. That’s a huge help that Johnson can trust someone to “head coach” the defense. I was excited by Shaw but thankfully OC just less impactful than normal. Clearly Johnson wanted a guy who was hungry. (as I watch this, damn Milano is awesome) Sounds like this is a very New Orleans coaching staff, with Roushar likely
  18. Man how are we in this super team loop.
  19. Woof. Not the start I wanted to see.
  20. KC Philly would be be that horrible rams/pats Super Bowl from 2019 or whenever
  21. I’m scared for Sox season to start. The bulls being on this hidden network has made them invisible to me. Last year, the bulls would occasionally be on, led to my kids wanting to go to games. This year? Never comes up. Whatever financial decision showed this is better, it’s a horrible brand decision long term.
  22. I’d be a big fan of Shaw. Hated it as an HC but then read a lot of people who are still big believers of him as some who could have Harbaugh like success
  23. That was 100% the life with shoop. But, I unno, looking back what was an offense with Jim Miller, Shane Matthew’s, etc as QB supposed to look like. Turned out he was better than Terry Shea that’s for sure.
  24. It is so funny that the bears offensive savior staff is made up of not Andy Reid guys or Shanahan guys or McVay guys but John shoop and Adam gase guys
  25. From what it sounds like, McCarthy rebuffed them when Jerry was doing his “wait until last moment of contract then pay way too much” routine and they weren’t prepared. Jerry fully seems in his reinsdorf era of just wanting coaches who like him and he likes. Awful situation for cowboys fans. I think Schotty is a good OC but this seems like Jason Garrett at best.
