  1. I do wonder if last years trade being as big a disaster as it is will temper the enthusiasm for big trade ups. It didn’t work for San Fran. It didn’t work for Carolina. I think a smaller trade up from Wash/NE is more likely.
  2. I’m not so Harrison Jr or bust. Malik Nabers is also incredible. I’m less of an Odunze fan, but all three make up an awesome top of the class. If we do get second rounders, Ladd McConkey would be the exact type guy we are missing to round out the offense.
  3. I have no idea what they should do anymore…which is awesome. Yesterday was just incredible. The hard part with Fields to figure out is he’s still so explosive. He does push it downfield, or try to, he does have huge game changing runs. Usually when QBs are inconsistent they also are just boring. And so yesterday you see that and it’s hard not to think about just adding these big weapons. And yet it still hangs over how when the big plays are taken away…can he execute enough? I don’t really know, but it does feel painful to think about trading this guy away. I have been thinking about one combo that keeps fields but hedges…that would be JJ McCarthy. He seems like a good candidate to sit and develop, and wouldn’t be drafted high enough to be such a distraction. I also wonder if we could get Fields to sign a Jordan Love type deal in that scenario.
  4. If nothing else this proves why the “anti tanking” rules are stupid. Who would they deter if not the 2024 white Sox? And yet teams that aren’t the dodgers and Yankees will always need some cycles to retrench and focus on talent farther away. It was never about a specific draft pick.
  5. Would love to know if any other sportswriter would even entertain the invite
  6. Hey guys, bob here to help his good friend. Omar is so happy to tell us he’s happy he can tell us what was said was false, but he can’t actually tell us because he settled! Oh and the domestic violence? Just the scorn of a rejected woman. Nightengale is a disgrace. https://t.co/3Ajnmu8W1x
  7. I don’t know. I’m warming up to all of them. The turnover they had in their roster two years in a row is a lot. The young players are growing. Im reminded a bit of Gary Pinkel at Missouri. The first few years were underwhelming despite what people thought should have been a better team behind the dynamic Brad smith. Mizzou stuck with him, Pinkel changed the offense and defensive schemes and they had one of their best eras ever. Eberflus was there for that. Pinkels mentor always talked about trusting the process of coaching, and we do see this team staying focused. The west coast scheme Getsy is running is sound. He may not be best play caller, but another year of continuity of main players may really pay off. Im sure that’s why they stuck with whitehair/patrick. Its just really hard to gel five offensive lineman that are brand new or rookies/second year. Hes probably not a Super Bowl winning coach, but unless you can guarantee me a Tomlin or Payton…I just don’t know. Underrated switch if they still draft Williams would be to hire Kliff Klingsbury away from OC or USC.
  8. Do not play top SEC teams with your backup qb
  9. The good news is that Chris Getz made an org chart.
  10. I thought we could at least go after the normal reclamation projects and hoo boy these are the guys that were too bad for Charlotte to touch. Yee haw
  11. I’m not saying he didn’t say it, I’m saying if hub arkush actually gets real info like this on the Denver broncos I’ll eat a hat.
  12. If hub actually hears something like this I will eat a hat
  13. I think this is incorrect. Us winning meaningless games was due to big improvements from our draft picks. We’d be way worse off if all our picks looked as bad as they did the first 5 games. For one - there is way less pressure to draft an edge with one of our first rounders. MHJ is great, but this is an awesome receiver class. Love Tez Walker too.
  14. I’m pro drafting Williams but I do think nfl teams should be less confident they are right about which QB is “their guy”. If Bears did something like swap back with Washington, recoup their 2nd round pick plus a future second, drafted MHJ and then Daniels at their next pick…well that’s very interesting. But I’d rather just see if you could get Williams / Odunze or Nabers or trade back and get Brian Thomas Jr
  15. San Diego (rights to draft Vick, drafted Tomlinson in first, Brees in second), then sorta again when they had a gun to their head (Eli Manning)
  16. Well Verlander at the deadline prior. I have never believed they were in a hurry (also they had a bit more found money in their rotation than orioles have)
  17. I would rather bring in a new coach but just want to know names they could get first. I do think he’s done a good enough job the back half of this year that with maybe 8 jobs open we could end up worse off. Basically I need to know the actual names. They’ve improved enough I can’t say “generic other coach” is definitely better.
  18. It was 2.5 years of Soto. It is the best trade comp you’ll find given 2.5 is a lot of control for a star player and Soto was a much more consistently dominant player. No team will ever trade a package like that for any one player. Ever.
  19. That’s more than Juan Soto got, way more, so I don’t think so.
  20. I like Owen Murphy a lot too. His stuff fell back a bit, but ATL does great building up innings in these guys. He already had 80 IP last year. AJSs should, at 21 be able to handle 110-120.
  21. A better move would have been to trade for a guy who didn’t need a 40 man spot and require such an immediate referendum. It will be like June and we’ll likely be in a spot where this kid is subject to waivers. It’s just garbage decisionmaking.
  22. Here’s the good news with Eberflus and Poles: To me the big reason I was ok with moving on from Poles in September was it looked like he made an all time bad decision at head coach - and a really curious one. Now? Eberflus looks like he did do a good job developing a very young roster into a team that is competitive and improving. There is no need for a “culture change”. They are generally on the right track. So he didn’t completely screw up his hire. He made sense. But he’s mid. And, as ever, the offense isn’t good enough. But I would really only move on, if I’m poles, if I had good intel I could land a top guy. Otherwise, how friggen hilarious would it be for Eberflus to stay and bring on Josh McDaniels as OC for their new QB development.
