  1. We ended up behind a couple of runs but full picture…likely a few meaningful guys, an extra pick, and needs mostly met (except S and Edge) Not bad. Least happy with Ozzy, reminds me of Borom.
  2. Poles avoiding his biggest enemy of the third round
  3. Second round OTs have usually been fools gold anyway. I’d say an OT cap casualty is more likely
  4. Ok would I have taken another skill guy? No. Do I love Luther Burden, have so many special memories of Luther burden, and now get to watch him for the bears? f*** yes, I do.
  5. I always thought Denver was available. Would have done Derrick Harmon personally. Those teams aren't idiots ...but if a future first was available that would have been sweet *20 to 10 should not be that, only Ryan Pace ever paid that price.
  6. I would say Ray is right though, this pick is ultimately not to coexist with Kmet. Bears need more players that can play on time in this system. It’s not just Caleb. Keenan, kmet were slow off the line and to get to their spots. Loveland is getting those targets.
  7. Ideally. But you can’t argue with the production
  8. I would have too. He at least had correct body, measurable and a plausible upside argument. Just crazy because that would be a guy in the 20s normally. I would have liked Jalon walker too but it was so clearly a not good fit in the scheme. I hope we get the bc edge…but again…great talent but bad fit for us. He’d be destined to be a DPR. For as much as it was discussed bears didn’t have major holes…they have an injured LT, concussion prone S, no pass rush. Feasible options to get real talent in second round but if they go S/Edge the o line really needs investment starting next year.
  9. I’m more disappointed we could not get back into the first to get conerly/simmons, but when the falcons give up a future first to get back into…well let’s just say I’m relieved we didn’t do anything stupid. this draft sucks…do NOT trade for more value in this draft at the expense of next year…our first relatively covid free set of players.
  10. Problem is drafting a bad player at a better position doesn’t help team building either. They can also trade kmet. this draft had 2 blue chip players, a bunch of good TEs/RBs, off-ball LBs and a bunch of tweeters at premium positions. At least he is proper size and speed without character concerns.
  11. Not a lot of trade downs. this draft just was really bad. I wouldn’t draft a TE at 10…but also it is unusual to be at 10 and have such a dearth of premium positions prospects with the appropriate size or not horrendous character flags. Ballard is a “premium position” guy and took a TE at 14. Probably one of the more popular trade downs rumors with the bears was with Denver…so they could take a TE. Im just glad we didn’t trade up or do anything stupid. This felt like a 2013 draft where we’ll look back and just be amazed how few starters were available on the first round, let alone impact. Id probably still have tried with Mykell Williams. But I’d have lower confidence he’d be a long term starter than Loveland.
  12. I just think they should find an injury that vaughn is suffering through for a bit. I'm skeptical Elko is good, but similar to Remillard...he's a player that isn't as stained by the stink of losing. Better than Remilliard - he's led winning teams since college (maybe not all true). Meanwhile all I can think about with Vaughn is how unbelievably dumb we are.
  13. I’m sorry but there is no way that is true. Is that true? I’d expect we are 10 runs at least ahead of last year
  14. Them at 35% is great. The reinsdorf failsons and father having fifty percent is incredibly depressing. There is no “not selling but passing chairman role to ishbias”, we are just stuck with this miserable moron.
  15. Greenberg seems to have given it tacit approval
  16. The white Sox signed him (because they are idiots)
  17. Yeah I guess though some of it is also how bad both scouting and our pd/advanced scouting/etc is together. While I think a good amount of it is luck when Brian Goodwin randomly has an .850 OPS to get you through, some of it isn't. I mean had they kept on to Kevin Pillar I would not have my little anecdote here. But it just comes across that they know they want to change but don't actually know what they are doing.
  18. One thing that's been kind of amazing is how for like most of my baseball life there's been one kinda random plus offensive season or relevant hot streak. Thinking of getting a Elvis Andrus putting up 9 home runs and 2 wins in like 40 games. The Trayce Thompson year, Palkamania, Yerminator, Avisail Garcia in 2017, McCann. Hell, Brian Goodwin's first half of 2021. Leury 2021. That stuff is random, unsustainable, but always kinda happens. And it has just straight up not been happening since 2022. Now, of stars, of course Robert had 2023. Benintendi had a few months. But to cycle through so many marginal guys and not accidentally catch a hot streak is so wild. The year is young, maybe Meidroth is the rando. but it's been the thing that has stood out to me for how astonishingly bad we have been offensively. Like, normally even bad teams you look at and are like "hey billy butler had a decent year actually"
  19. My initial trade for outman was giolito for outman and amaya and this is a tremendous monkey paw moment now
  20. It is comical this trend of finally getting a name on Sox fans radars the minute they become irrelevant.
  21. Agreed, I hate when we hold this stuff up as validation as if we needed it.
