  1. Such a bummer that bears didn’t try for Harbaugh. Maybe he fails, but this city would embrace him. He’ll half of Chicago is Michigan fans. Fully believe he’d lead them to a Super Bowl even if the team offense is archaic.
  2. Fangio leaving dolphins. HIs two-shell high defense looks dead. His disciples were all ran out as failures: donatell, desai, staley never made it work as well as him. He was always so good at disguising his pressures. The league moves on. What a defense he created though in 2018. Good enough to win a super bowl if only we made the right choices in 2017.
  3. The problem is those stats are good for a white sox prospect.
  4. I don't know how often coaches really lead the team to a championship. Spoelstra's work in miami in getting to two finals may be the lead there but even then it's part of an overall culture that the FA sets by getting only hard working dudes there. For the most part you need on established, super star teams a coach that the players respect and he can keep together enough. Doc mostly does that, though he was one of many that could not corrale james harden. His work with the Clippers prior to them going all in on Kawhi was pretty damn good. Then...did he fail the clippers or did it just not work with that group? Did he fail the sixers? not sure we'll see them get over the hump this year either. But the Bucks could win with Budenholzer who seemed to often actively try to do things his team wasn't good at. Doc doesn't need to do much on the court with that team, just keep them together.
  5. Braves holdings already looking at like $60mill annually on their "mixed use real estate" holding. I'd imagine given the location this could have a bigger impact at getting year round revenue. Though it may very well have smaller footprint so I'm not sure.
  6. "nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded!"
  7. and what has happened in South Loop since?
  8. The area around the braves is generating around $60 million in profit this year for Atlanta Braves holdings. That's basically in the suburbs. Should be easy to generate more year round revenue in this space. Good projects die all the time, but there is a reason this suddenly popped up outside JR personally manifesting it.
  9. Condos and apartments near the loop but next to a large set of commerce rail...$ Condos and apartments near the loop and next to an entertainment center and baseball stadium...$$$ NFL has started to create loans for these types of projects too. JR has been a good soldier, wouldn't be surprised if MLB starts getting into the land and property game as well.
  10. I think this ignores the incentive for the current land owners and developers to try and get the stadium too.
  11. 1. real estate deals 2. getting interviewed about strong arming labor in cigar magazine 3. strong arming labor in CBA negotiations
  12. I don't think it's that laughable, Jerry is looking at liberty media's money printer in atlanta. I don't care if he's old, he likes this stuff, and real estate is much more his passion, honestly maybe even more than union busting.
  13. Ha, oh man this hoge and jahns with the Seattle beat writer. Basically states all the good things in seattle were because of Pete and the players and all the bad things were Waldron.
  14. This is all great news. South Loop residential demos I'd guess skew older (I have no data there), and so I wonder how things shift if something like this gets introduced in the area. Reggies ...has to be thrilled right? Feels like they would become the de facto sox bar.
  15. That was extremely fortunate for Eberflus. I can't say he will be the best coordinator out of that group, as Zac Robinson or Coen could easily show up and storm the league a la Slowik and Canales. But he has actual, successful playcalling experience with a cast that wasn't inevitable. I thought Seattle would be the worst team in the league last year. They made the playoffs. I thought Bucs would be worst team in the league this year, they made the playoffs. One was led by Waldron, the other came to the bucs from working underneath Waldron. Maybe we find Canales was Waldron's secret sauce, since the Seahawks did regress. It's possible. To my eyes at the stats, it looks like the Seahawks OL was terrible, and maybe John Schneider just never was great at that but had Russ to bail him out. I think most likely thing we find out - the difference between a Good OC and a Bad OC is not that large. We'll still be frustrated often, until our personnel group turns to becoming truly overwhelming.
  16. Eh owners don’t seem to f*** with others nest egg once they are in the crew.
  17. https://x.com/tompelissero/status/1749388890333381064?s=46&t=9lkBcVJmwvxFpyVi5DNtCg massive
  18. Giving his signing money to Dave Wilder’s night club would have been a better use of our budget.
  19. Aaron Leming had a great tweet about how Zac Robinson and Liam Coen seem like guys that would go to other teams and be like Slowik and Canales, but if they went to the bears they’d be just another run of Nagy/Getsy. Bears fans have been so quick to compliment, rightfully so, LaFleurs offense recently. Makes me have greater respect for what Eberflus saw in that offense when he nabbed Getsy. At the time we hired Nagy, we had no idea he “developed” the greatest modern QBs first year. These would be profiles that I’d be so pumped for to hire now. Yet we seem to pull the few examples of guys who cannot actually lead what they were taught. Id guess this is why we should value that Waldron and Others had called plays prior. But man I wish we could actually hit on one of these guys on the way up for once.
  20. so there have been a number of mock drafts coming out now, this latest from Daniel Jeremiah, who continue to see the top three receivers go 4, 5, 6. The most interesting thing from daniel jeremiah's latest is Ola Fashanu is OT3! https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2024-nfl-mock-draft-1-0 It has jared verse go 9 to the bears, which, I just guarantee will not happen.
  21. This is remarkably similar. So much for Getz failures being due to not being able to hire his own coaches.
  22. I like Greg Olson, personally, he's had a really interesting last few stops. But there are a few others I don't like: Marcus Brady and Thomas Brown. The offense got worse when Brown took over again, so I just don't see how we could justify it. Same with Brady. And yeah, no thanks to Roman. Still surprised we've not re-contacted Pep Hamilton but maybe he doesn't want to get passed over twice here.
  23. There is nothing more Rick Hahn than getting us all excited because he traded for someone he saw high on the scouting sites only to find out their value has started to crater. Our system reminds me of that terrible movie unbreakable with Bruce Willis. Basically our PD just explodes class after class of prospect and occassionally we find these super human players like schultz and montgomery who can still succeed in that chaos. So I'm sure we'll turn Quero's stock back around. Just a matter of time for Jacob.
