  1. I guess if I were a rangers fan I'd just prefer the david stearns 15-17 paper clip trading and solid vet signings then a big splash signing. It may put you in a 2014-esque white sox situation where you make some bad moves just to speed up a window that wasn't there. Brewers, Giants kinda showed that their player development was working with some smaller projects, then were able to get a grandal, Yellich, etc. But, maybe the Rangers way will work and we'll point to it. Just seems like a waste of Marcus.
  2. thank you for following andy martino so I do not have to.
  3. They got better...whew though. They weren't close. They aren't close to close. I guess in a narrow white sox framing it's nice that he isn't stacking another team vs. sox, but from a pure baseball view I sure wish he would have chosen the Mariners over the rangers (or obviously, if sox had made play).
  4. I feel like @fathom has a good vibes meter for free agents. He was quick to point out that Grandal had the bad vibes. He points to Segura, Conforto having bad vibes. Castellanos has the good vibes. I don't know what it ultimately means toward winning but he definitely has a good feel on what to expect and good at foreshadowing which players people will hate.
  5. I'm not a big bWAR fan, but not sure it matters that much. Fangraphs catcher metrics value framing more, so it will like grandal. Talked with eminor about it, but starting to like using baseball prospectus more. Wish I was smart enough to mesh BPs FRAA with wRC+ but if we did WARP: Grandal - beloved by BP catching metrics, has been above 4 WARP for every season since 2015, excluding 2020 (shortened) I don't even know what the rest of your post is talking about.
  6. Wildcard with Jose is putting him back at 2b, but if you were to take a player whose offensive skillset completely complements the sox weaknesses like a key in a lock its probably Seager and JR. + contact + walk rate + low ground ball + + versatility + slugging In many ways, CLE is our perfect trading partner, and also our worst trading partner.
  7. It honestly is helpful to do these because its a reminder that we are not at 2019 white sox roster anymore. Here is a very muted way to get to 190 million: Seiya Suzuki (4 yrs $12M/yr opt out after 2 years) Kimbrel for Marchan, Segura (+$2M) +Tepera ($7M) Danny Duffy 2 yr $24M
  8. that means its over or hitting an impasse?
  9. Alright so disheartened 11/29 playlists. Reminder, I'm evaluating white sox on whether additions help with things I specifically find us weak at: - RHP hitting (RHP) - GB % (GB) - Defense (DEF) - Contact (K%) - Power (SLG) - Versatility (VERS) - Pitching Arsenal (ARS) - Pitching Control (CON) Option 1: Schwarber-Ray - Sign Schwarber at 4 for 20 - Sign Corey Dickerson at 1 yr 8.5M, club option for year 2 at $10M with 1M buyout - Sign Leury @ 5.5M - Sign Robbie Ray @ 6yr $132 M - Trade Kimbrel to LAD for Jacob Amaya, James Outman - Sign Robinson Chirinos to ST invite Total Salary : $200.6M Trait breakdown: GB+ - Schwarber (Dickerson neutral, Leury doesn't hurt since he was last year too) DEF- - Dickerson COULD be plus, no idea what happened last year. Leury at 2b I think could be plus Contact Neutral Power + - Schwarber Versatility- - Schwarber ARS, CON - ray not necessarily PLUS PLUS there Illustrative in where sox are at, despite a TWO plus additons, I dumpster dove to round out. Removing Keuchel a must at this point. Option 2 - lite Remove Keuchel, add Kikuchi - Changes to 190M Will continue to do more. anxious to see if ay of these dudes signed while writing ha.
  10. My point being he was one of the few alluded to nationally, and among the Our Chucks.
  11. low-key great part of yesterday was learning that Max has a house in florida so actually Florida Spring Training is great news. GlendaLLLLLLLe
  12. I'm fully prepared to be disgusted by the lack of a move, and the desire to tightwalk this offseason. However, it does seem like the only teams getting "team interested" tweets have front office personnel in or previously from New York.
  13. I'm still floored by Michael Lorenzen getting 7 million and it being in the AL. By the best of my accounts, he basically just said I want to be a starter, so the angels paid him like a starter, despite him being a bad reliever? What am I missing there?
  14. Yeah it's both. Not a lot of games to hide (ahem...houston), but what they put the bulls through in november was ridiculous. Putting a back to back after a west coast road trip, then sending them to orlando, then back home to play the heat, just all ridiculous.
  15. sadly, this is probably finalized already
  16. Definitely at the period where I'm already sad that it will be over rather than enjoying the moment. Every CBA should be 1 year.
  17. Yeah, I think he got the mets to max bid and the mets know no one else is near, and he's looking longingly at Arte Moreno hoping he can get him close enough to stay in LA.
