  1. I think he could very well be right on how good each QB ends up, I just think it is a huge huge unlikelihood that Fields would end up drafted at 32.
  2. For the record I was team chatroom. I had a blast. I was an obnoxious teenager though and I can't imagine reading what I wrote lol. But, I would say to everyone that a big difference from back then (sports illustrated episode aside), is that when you wrote stuff on soxtalk it was in its own world. We know the beat writers read soxtalk, we know players read soxtalk. We know of all the snitch tweeters on twitter. I know when someone says something heated it's more venting and they'd never mean it to escalate or get seen by a player and actually hurt someone. But it like, really really could now. Ok, that's me being empathetic to shitposters, I need to go take a shower. No more death threats!
  3. I don't find the "the bears are terrible now so should rebuild because if they don't they'll be terrible, but they already are terrible, so they Who cares, that is literally the same thing to me. You already believe they are terrible. If they rebuild next year, they can trade roquan, jackson, get comp picks for robinson, leno. They can trade this QB they acquire for a 2nd. They can do whatever they want.
  4. Despite game threads being miserable unless I'm posting in them, I would say people don't really remember mid-00s soxtalk. It was a lot younger, and there was consistently pretty terrible jokey stuff insinuated about why ozzie chose players. There was a split where gamethreads were a bit more positive because all the negative stuff went into the chat, which was a nihilists playpen. Thank god that does not exist.
  5. I will bet $10 this is wrong. Players will throw a fit after the TV deals. There is no way this happens.
  6. I'll take the aggressive contrarian and point out an option many of the "it will be too hard for bears to trade up" people seem to miss. There have been notes of vikes/chargers possibly looking to trade down, I think many teams would prefer it since this was such a difficult year for scouting. But pace and nagy clearly want to go after a guy, I think national media are underselling their aggressiveness, and the board is lining up their way in a way it didn't look like a month ago, where it felt like falcons would take a QB at 4 and bengals could trade out to the broncos. Rich Hill value chart: Bears trade #20 and #83 to Vikings for #14 (one spot ahead of NE) Bears trade #14 and 2022 first round pick +2022 third round pick to Carolina Panthers for pick #8. Bears select Fields/Lance. Trade 1: bears give up 321 points, minnesota gives up 325 Trade 2: Bears recreate Philly/Dolphins trade Bears can then trade back in 2nd or select a mayfield/radunz
  7. Yep, but at least Notre Dame had some legit defenses. And I guess I'd say how many QBs looked not notable vs. Notre Dame then kept their first round pick status and panned out? That's part of it too. Indiana and Northwestern's defenses were pretty cool and complex this year, so I think that's great experience for fields. If you couldn't beat Mizzou's defense that was fine, then I don't think that much of you.
  8. One reason I'm starting to lean Lance over Fields even though I'm not there yet is the smart football people are being very arrogant about fields and they have been so aggressively wrong about QBs recently.
  9. I'm just going to speak as a mizzou fan: it's always hard to give an endorsement of QBs who don't tear up Mizzou or feel like monsters who can't be stopped. Even though Trask it never felt like "holy crap Kyle Trask" as much as their crazy skill positions. And just watching SEC it was never that scary like "oh no we're facing Mond or Franks". Feels a lot like Josh Dobbs to me. No doubt great college qbs. But I thought Arkansas looked better offensively without franks But I never thought Gabbert or Lock would be that great though I rooted for them. Everything looked easy to Jones, that final score was way closer, and Jones sat out the fourth. Trask had a great statline, but toney and pitts just ran through our defenders and his two years vs us they made him work a decent amount. Like Kyle Allen always seemed like a bigger star than Mond. This is probably dumb college fan stuff, but after the trubisky experience plus seeing both mizzou QBs fail and like Josh Freeman fail after never seeing him dominate mizzou, it's like a small heuristic I can't let go of.
  10. Who is that? Just Jones? I would be thrilled walking away with Lance or Fields and I don't think there is a real argument either would be a 2nd or 3rd rounder a few months back. I'd also be happy in the scenario jones falls and we can get him for a single pick. I know I'm in minority there but I always thought the level of talent around him critique was not helpful. Bears would definitely be committed to non-mobile QBs at that point, with Dalton, Foles and Jones, but maybe that's good to have a clear future on what's needed to build around.
  11. While there are going to be varying degrees which we won't lay out to allow interpretations, I think personal attacks should be more interpreted as bringing in stuff outside the field (family, etc) to be critical just because they made a bad play. But there are degrees of this, drake laroche posts were family but he also brought the kid into the white sox business. So, I know people want firm guidance but we aren't going to provide it, you aren't going to be banned if a player airballs a throw to first and you call them a moron, no.
  12. No it was when you posted a dramatic goodbye post and quit because you couldn't take @ron883's joke. I just find it weird how often you lecture people when they respond to critical posts from you for not understanding "jokes" but then you had to write a pity letter and quit due to a poster's actions.
  13. Remember when you quit the site?
  14. I kinda think the Broncos still saying they could go QB is more to encourage teams to jump them and guarantee they can get a top 5 player on their board
  15. It would be a major miracle. But if NE scoffs at 4, I do think bears should go all out. See if teams like LAC or MN would trade to #20 for this years 2nd. Then to move from 6/7/8 is more palatable to trade out team, they pick up a future first and 2022 third like the eagles trade
  16. I don't think this is true, they kept these guys on. Ted Phillips has not shown himself to do anything other than rubber stamp stuff like that.
  17. Things lining up well. If we are staring at a top 4 with Lance AND fields available bears should go for it. Maybe seek a safe landing at vikes 14 spot first, then jump from there.
  18. albright's final mock has 49ers choosing Lance and Jones falling all the way to the Bears. Seems plausible with his reporting that it seems like broncos have other plans.
  19. So I watched Godzilla v. Kong, was really fun but that screenplay was super sloppy. I could have gone without the entire sidestory with stranger things folks. I'm not even quite sure what they accomplished at the end? Why was he still fighting after the drink was spilled? The gravity stuff in hollow earth was fun, I kinda wish they'd have played around with kong fighting something where he's going in between the gravity poles. But yeah to me compared to the two otehrs in the series, the plot seemed especially contrived this time, but they made clear they didn't care, so I didn't care too much. However still feels like godzilla is pulling his punches with kong. Dude just shoot your fire breath at him the whole time, don't even bother with hand to hand combat!
  20. the latest mock draft from BA has andrew painter for the sox at 22, jobe at 11.
