If Pelosi had the votes, which she doesn't otherwise it would be on the table, it could get through the house without debate. The thought isn't really that he gets removed through impeachment. More that it is sitting in the senate and they could vote to remove him for the next few weeks is better than the serious unknowns of the 25th. The trial, etc, of the senate aren't necessarily things that have to take a long time, but we are obviously in weird times and he gets officially removed in two weeks. This is mainly leverage over the executive.
  2. With a 4.5 WAR season driven by getting hit by pitches an insane amount, incredible baserunning, and incredible defense. This is where actually watching his play it makes it concerning and I struggle with the perception we can just say "he's at least David Eckstein". Maybe he isn't. He's at least Hanser Alberto. That's 2 war for six years. Sox should be thrilled. And not for nothing but Orioles didn't even bother offering him arb and we could pick him up for a million. I don't think Madrigal is the devil, I just don't buy he's providing a bunch of surplus value and I think we could easily trade him and get better value elsewhere and supplementing with a cheap 2b.

Well, that's true but Kinzinger didn't vote for impeachment articles and the 25th amendment honestly to me is worse. But yeah he's gearing up for a governor run and probably trying to take back the suburbs for IL republicans.

Kinzinger calls for 25th amendment. I think 25th amendment is a bad idea, impeachment from house makes more sense because it also hangs over head of president. What happens if Trump still acts like he's president and you have a 2 popes issue.

Absolutely wild Is there any clearer reaction than “you made me do this!” The MAGA as abusive step dad is just too on point

    Basically this

One of the reasons it’s important to act quickly when everyone agrees something terrible happened is the more time passes after the event, the more stories are created for those who want to be sympathetic to latch onto to promote that it wasn’t that bad and was nobodies fault. Sean Davis, editor of the federalist, is now pushing that the mob thought they were allowed into the capitol and didn’t understand why police were trying to stop them. It was all a big misunderstanding! Dont believe that? Well it was also Antifa dressed as MAGA

I’d doubt it. Pence and grass key were removed about 30 minutes before any of the rest of congress was. Long before they were close to the chamber.

I just want to know how often there are large expected protests at the capitol and only capitol police are assigned, and who planned for that day.
  10. WCJ just drives me nuts
  11. One day we will get to the bottom of this and...

Well that one women was shot to death. I agree especially when they got in the capitol they just needed to evacuate and regroup. But the planning was the issue, no reason to be caught that unaware. If they were that spread thin they should have focused on a smaller perimeter.

Regardless I appreciate Graham calling out the ridiculous use of the 1876 election by Cruz (as a positive!) and correcting the record. Was honestly nervous when he started that part.

I would say it's good advice to stay away from crowded places or places where shows are held right now, yes.

I am astounded by this. Just a whiplash of absurdity and sadness. Well, and anger. Seeing the pictures, it's infuriating. This isn't storming buckingham palace with some semblance of hallowed ground, or whatever I don't give a shit about the monarchy. But that building belongs to us and is a shrine to the millions of americans in history who just try to make it work even when it isn't working. And it just takes so little to trash it. And the other side is just being gobsmacked looking at this insurrection and them holding the American flags and calling themselves patriots. It's a day. You know it's coming and then it happens, and it sucks.

    Absolutely right.

A blue-city mayor bringing in law enforcement resources to get order into property under Trump's purview is just great content. Except for the whole assault on the republic stuff.

This is a profoundly sad day. It will be fruitless, but still sad. To be honest, if you ran the trump presidency 100 times, I'm not sure this isn't even one of the better timelines. It is very dangerous giving someone this job who so clearly does not give a shit about the country beyond its power.

All the more incredible because of 9/11. It is shocking partly of how easily this was done, but the imagery beggars belief.

thankfully, Maryland and VA national guard appear to be mobilized. I'm not sure how there can be an objection to DC statehood on any grounds other than balance of power posturing.
  25. If that happens though at least it won’t be a hard contract to lose. But I feel like Hendriks will still be excellent next year and may be worth it
