  1. at this point it's, I think, at 114. So last year was 140 basically right? Starter + Reliever probably puts you there. So I'd say sox are probably going to be around there if not slightly above for some middle relievers. If they sign a DH they may go higher. That will probably be the interesting call.
  2. I will be extremely happy if we can convince brantley to come here and DH. If that happens, we probably need to get leury to work fulltime on infield again, where he isn't great but has attributed it to having to practice so many positions.
  3. It's more about his position. Despite him being more of a power hitter than a Madrigal, its slugging in 2019 puts him at 25th in RF...just ahead of Jason Heyward... Hilarious. Didn't hit me until now but for all the talk about Darvish/Heyward last night, this is basically the budget version of that (granted Eaton doesn't K)
  4. Yes it would make sense. But instead it is freeing up money for another declining starter in quintana and then probably colome. And the sox media will say "wow the sox spent 40 million and got an ACE!"
  5. Yes, yes, everything is a big puzzle needing to be figured out on a message board.
  6. Adam Eaton wRC+ 2018 - 122 (95 games) 2019 - 107 (150 games) 2020 - 75 (40 games) BB % 2017 - 13% 2018 - 10.3% 2019 - 9.9% 2020 - 6.6%
  7. You'd gotta go with Wade Davis. He was also good in 2016!
  8. Adam eaton being bad in 2020 is ok because Joc was also bad but less bad, but joc being bad in 2020 is bad because he was worse than Mazara. And Eaton showing decline in 2019 is...well, Joc was bad in 2020.
  9. You know just because a hitter will hit 7th on our good lineup doesn't mean you have to aim for a declining hitter right?
  10. Soxtalk on 33 year old Michael Brantley who hit .300 / .364 / .476 last year: "Just scares me, you know? Declining hitter, he's basically Adam dunn or LaRoche" Soxtalk on 32 year old Adam Eaton who hit .226/.285/.384 "Love it. Great defense. Great bat. Good walks. What's not to love?"
  11. Small descrepancies my dude those numbers mean Joc was 20% better than Eaton in 2019 and 11% better than him in 2020, even in joc's "terrible year". And Joc was great in the playoffs. I'm sorry to inform you all that adam eaton didn't get cryogenically frozen in 2016. Time has continued on for us all.
  12. Wow that's amazing. Sox fans saying "wow if we just get average production after getting awful production last year, we are great" just works out every time doesn't it? This was the exact line people said about melky cabrera, and boy, this is a melky cabrera signing.
  13. 2019 Adam Eaton - 107 wRC+ 2019 Joc Pederson - 127 wRC+ 2020 Adam Eaton - 77 wRC+ 2020 Joc Pederson - 88 wRC+ Adam Eaton - 32 years old Joc Pederson - 28 years old
  14. I will bet $50 that we do not pick up adam eaton's option next year to anyone that takes that other side. All offseason I've been like "I kinda like ALL the RF options" and that never included adam fucking eaton. Good grief.
  15. Soxtalk yesterday "lol joc pederson had a worse WAR than Nomar Mazara" Don't look at fangraphs today.
  16. Declining Slowing Worse on defense Worse on offense Also an asshole. other than that, great move.
  17. They were certainly resilient last year but yeah, they are losing a ton of production offensively. Maybe they find a bunch of diamonds in the rough but their farm isn't that great anymore. Sox have a chance to move up a lot just via depth. Our Starting Rotation was paper thin last year. But with another starter, potentially high end closer, and joc, they are right up there with anyone. Feel very confident in ALC especially if/when the indians trade lindor unless they get mlb talent back. Their rotation is still disgusting. And truthfully, I see royals / tigers as good bad teams next year.
  18. He's also not near the superstar RF he was in 2016. Maybe it was the ACL, maybe it is indeed the fairly easy RF at GRF (I don't know much about the Nationals field). But he's not BAD but he was only 2 OAA in 2019 when he played most of the year in RF. 2019: Adam Eaton : 2 Outs above average in 340 attempts in RF 2019: Joc Pederson 2 outs above average in 61 attempts in RF
  19. If we are going to hate on Joc for his 2020 what's y'alls excuse for Adam Eaton?
