  1. Last year took most of the wind out of my sails of being a big bears fan, so this year isn't that painful. Still would like to watch football, but this is just so many years of the same crap, it seems almost impossible. I really thought I couldn't see a worse bears offense than the Krenzel bears, but then John Fox came along, and then Matt Nagy came along. Considering the offensive evolution, it is frankly incredible that Nagy and Pace somehow put together an offense this bad. Any offensive scheme, with any offensive talent, should be able to get more points the last few weeks against the defenses they played. It is the qb, but it's not just the qb. It is the coach, but it's not just the coach. It is the talent, but it's not just the talent. It is an org that somehow, even when they put every emphasis on fixing it, always ends up in the same place. Just incompetence. You know they are an incompetent org, because they keep getting swayed by smooth talking interviews. You have Bruce Arians in hand, you go with Trestman. You have chris ballard in hand, you go with Pace. When you know nothing about football, you constantly end up getting swayed by people that seem the most likeable and biggest salesman.
  2. Pelicans definitely got a lot of value out of trading Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday.
  3. 5-11 to 7-9, the classic bears range of bad but not quite bad enough.
  4. Well we did have that whole fanfic era of Sox signing both Harper and machado
  5. Again, all he was saying is sox budget wouldn’t allow Trevor Bauer (top free agent) AND George springer (top free agent together. Not OR.
  6. I think you read it wrong. He said they aren’t doing Bauer AND Springer. I mean they likely get neither, but it was t that they couldn’t make a big acquisition.
  7. Maybe message boards aren’t for you.
  8. Nobody talk unless you can see the future.
  9. Because, as I said, I set out to make the most probably good but aesthetically disgusting team in the NBA ?
  10. Have you guys thought about how it is feasible that we could trade for sale, sign quintana, eaton, todd frazier, joakim soria AND david robertson this offseason?
  11. To me there are so many acceptable RF solutions. Springer is taking the value in the class, but then there is Joc as a platoon with Engel which is fine and a potential bounce back. Think 2010 Andruw Jones. Great. Next there is JBJ who would legit turn our outfield into plus. We could even tell Eloy to stand in the bullpen and just let Luis robert and jbj do a 2 man outfield. that's 3. Then there is the weird stuff, the double-psyche colorado rockies stuff. Nobody is going to blow their stack on infielders with what is coming up. Put Semien in RF. Win central.
  12. I have an awful trade scenario to build maybe the most aesthetically frustrating but still probably good team in the nba Trade Lavine, Thad, White, #4 pick, 2022 top 12 protected pick to Houston Then, trade Otto Porter to Golden State for Andrew Wiggins Then sign Rajon Rondo as vet min PG - Rajon Rondo SG - James Harden SF - Andrew Wiggins PF - Lauri Markannen C - Wendell Carter Jr Then get a mid level exception for carmelo anthony.
  13. we will need a bullpen piece, just not sure they feel the need for backend guy.
  14. This is just for fun: My "All Whiff %" Offseason (pitchers/hitters who generated a lot of strikeouts previous year) Pitchers: Trevor May Jake McGee Trevor Bauer Position Players: JAckie Bradley Jr My "All Contact" (heavy control pitchers and high contact hitters) Pitchers: Mike Leake Masahiro Tanaka Liam Hendriks Hitters Tommy La Stella (whom I will put in RF ? )
  15. That would be the safe bet, honestly.
  16. One thing that happened though is when Stroman and Gausman signed their QOs the b-tier pitching options suddenly went from somewhat plentiful to much less attractive. Is there a dependable pitcher after Bauer? It's basically Morton and Tanaka, two pitchers very much, uhm, mature.
  17. Maybe not but it's easier to get a star when you have a star. And if AK ends up as good at talent evaluation as Denver was they might be able to find something to fit around him.
  18. Hence the one year deal. People were outraged at length for pomeranz and now money for Smiley. Both indicated competition. This didn't come out of no where. I don't watch the giants ever, but his curve usage goes way up, becomes a huge swing and miss generator, the giants figured out some tunneling thing or something with him and that's repeatable. Zaidi's choices in SF have been confusing, but they have had some decent wins in player turnarounds with smyly and gausman.
  19. I think realistically Houston is going to be a bit hamstrung in wanting to provide a soft landing for Harden and get some feedback on where he wants to go. On that end, I'm not sure he'd want to go to chicago (he was not on the Donovan OKC teams, there is nothing to lure him). But that aside, I think I would want 2021 draft picks, salary relief, and young talent. The knicks might have a shot with that said.
  20. This reminds me a bit of the pomeranz deal last year. Soxtalk was equally angry. But if the scouts/analysts in Atlanta thought that there were real changes from Smyly realized last year, they were probably not the only ones. I'm not sure it means that much for quintana or any others, many of which teams are planning on slow decline, and have many peers but not that many teams.
  21. this is going exactly where I thought but still interesting the 2nd/3rd place votes.
