  1. also good news, the reports about only a few months of antibodies likely don't mean much:
  2. I hope we get another set of remdesivir reports. It's been pretty widely used in key hot spots since then. Due to scarcity, it's been mainly used in the sickest since it showed its modest improvement in hospitalization there. But it really would be good to know if it helps when it's deployed earlier.
  3. this is uh, questionable spin: I mean that's great, but a .3% positive rate nearly derailed the season on day 3. That's not a success and they need to be more realistic on what is needed to be competitive and safe this year.
  4. I am glad they are holding out the marlins for a week, and Phillies for a few days. Not going to hate on it.
  5. Yep. Friends in the city have almost always gone to CVS out of convenience, and unfortunately it has cost and has been by far the slowest turnaround. I don't blame people for not knowing, search Covid testing and you get a whole bunch of doctors offices and links, if unfamiliar you'd go with cvs. But the state/city run ones are free and honestly very very well run and fast. Theres even one at guaranteed rate but its just for healthcare/first responders.
  6. please pass them these testing sites. https://dph.illinois.gov/testing I've been tested a few times, never longer than 4 days. All Illinois dph sites are free.
  7. to me this again is just indicative of how the mlb approached the whole thing. Yeah, it's easier for the NBA and NHL to make a bubble. But the NBA was working with its players and stars throughout and getting them onboard with what was needed to be safe, and they asked them to sacrifice a lot more. The mlb was solely concerned with figuring out operating costs and then did the bare minimum imo for safety. They basically got testing and that's it. I'm sure they'd have fans if states allowed it. Like it probably was a really good idea to have players come to stadium already dressed, that never happened. The separated dugout in the seats was reasonable, didn't happen. Hey guys, wear a mask if you feel like it, and we'll test you occasionally. Otherwise good luck.
  8. yeah that is a huge problem. especially with it being likely that only on Friday will we really know the state of the issue for yesterday. Too big of a lag and it just seems rough.
  9. Well, would you want to travel to a city, hotel, and facility whose team has had an outbreak and a city that is capturing 3k cases a day, has a near 20% positive rate, etc. Or play them when you are isolated in our own home you can control, facilities you trust and only have minimal contact with that other team via on field play?
  10. So the nationals have voted against traveling to Miami this weekend, waiting to hear back from mlb.
  11. This is what E Rodriguez is going through
  12. I totally think this is true. Also dealing with New York media and not Miami.
  13. so 60% of a single team is out for 2 weeks...
  14. looks like that was postponed, probably easier to find days for them to find since they are so close.
  15. 4 more tested positive, so I think that's 14 players 2 coaches?
  16. Great stuff here https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/28/opinion/coronavirus-testing-antigen-pooling.html The president of university of Missouri system said the cdc told them not to test students prior to coming onto campus because it was just a “snapshot” and wouldn’t help. Thats again idiocy. The CDC is again letting its rationing for something turn into miscommunication. Of course it would help! Mass testing like this may be a solution. Like a mask, it’s personal efficacy may be low, but it’s group efficacy is much higher and fixes the rationing issue. The cdc needs to stop letting production issues affect its communication policies.
  17. This is not that important but I hate them saying “out of an abundance of caution”. Uh yeah it’s not really, just say due to your protocol you will sit out anyone showing symptoms until they can see it’s not covid.
  18. You are speaking with way too much certainty here.
  19. I mean so was I. I don't think we should assume this was due to players being irresponsible until we have a concrete example. You literally just said they are flying commercial.
  20. Right, let's blame the virus not the people. These guys can't wfh. That said, MLB and Players Union need to evaluate if they truly are doing everything possible to limit this. I was not impressed.
  21. I mean reds just lost Senzel and Moustakas.
  22. Right, but the NBA actually has controls for that. He wasn't allowed in. The mlb would never know.
