  1. I agree with this. In this case the manager is wrong, but if you set up the "never do what manager says if I disagree" you are then asking the players to always be right on the field.
  2. 1) I missed that the rangers threw behind Machado after, so that's the stuff that's actually b.s., I thought the opposing manager was just salty. I think it's dumb, but I don't really feel the need to whine about an opposing manager feeling like his team was embarrassed and placing the focus off his team. 2) Having read the padres managers comments, it really seemed like he was more upset that Tatis was given a "take" sign, and he swung. Personally, I think the signs to swing or take on 3-0 are peak over-managing, but it happens. I am just annoyed by the overkill transition from the legitimate campaign to stop hitting batters after stuff like this (like TA), to at the time believing the outrage was at the opposing manager saying he doesn't like it. I think it's dumb, but not same stratosphere as trying to throw at Machado the next pitch.
  3. thanks. The velocity was sad to hear about last august, but worse was as you said, his secondary stuff had been depleted.
  4. He was down on velocity coming back from TJS, he's now 2 years back and velo is near highs, not a coop thing.
  5. Yeah I think the progression for Robert will not be from his current play to trout/betts, but to continue to get smarter like Anderson in still being aggressive, but still more selection. I think he'll have more walks than Tim, but as long as he can stay in that 20% range like TA, his speed/power will be so valuable when you add in his defense.
  6. While I think it's dumb to be mad about that, I think this also has just become an outrage topic. Bad: player hits home run and celebrates - then gets a hard object thrown at his head Not even as close to bad: player hits home run and celebrates - losing manager says "that's bad" We really gonna act like in football coaches don't get mad about a team going for it on 4th down up 21 or "running up the score"? Players should be able to celebrate without getting injured, but it feels like people are trying to get upset if the opposing pitcher or manager doesn't say "yeah that was great, we all love celebrations, I really appreciate getting to see that up close"
  7. Have been able to watch so few games recently. Can someone tell me about Burdi? The tweets I caught sounded exciting.
  8. Detroit is building a pretty scary rotation but we all know how much can happen before they make it to the rotation. That said, if they end up with Kumar Rocker...eesh.
  9. Saturday was bad but in my years of following a team here are my rules: - Any time the opposing team is supposed to have a huge disadvantage due to either a) extended layoff or b) coming off some quadruple overtime they will always win* - People who say "it's really hard to sweep a doubleheader" is only partially true. It's hard to sweep a double header, but it's easy to get swept in one** *unless its your team that was at the disadvantage **only applies to white sox
  10. Fortunately for the sox trend is against big name managers. I could see sox zigging there though and prioritizing "experience" and getting another manager that goes by his GUT.
  11. x10 "Don't be surprised if Boylen stays" "New FO giving him more of a shot than you'd think" "Boylen fired" "Boylen was a horrible with players and it's no surprise it was fired"
  12. I've watched this like 100x on loop and still can't figure out how people were able to make that out. I guess it looks kinda blue?
  13. I remember when Giolito couldn't get a whiff to save his life. Ah well, back to the "the way things currently are I will proclaim as the way things will always be" show
  14. yeah I can't think of many examples of where a really good pitcher was actually blocked. They tend to find a way.
  15. oh is Lopez's command better (after 4 years in the majors)
  16. Massachusetts is down to 200 cases per day and in a region that is among the coolest in terms of spread. If any state could pull it off, Massachusetts has one of the best state gov'ts in the country.
  17. I thought the conspiracy was officials overcounting deaths to make it look scary but I guess now we've moved on to other countries hiding deaths just to stick it to the US.
  18. Nope. We also didn't know return so I didn't feel very strongly about acquiring him or missing out on him. Definitely didn't mind not getting him. But he would have been a pretty big help. Promote that scout (he was probably let go).
  19. You've gotten us a middle reliever. In retrospect we should have gotten Dylan bundy.
  20. Phillies were tapped out, dodgers perpetually looking to offload talent due to tax, "its the new yankees", etc etc
  21. love when sox talk says other teams don't have revenue to sign a player. It's accurate roughly 0% of time.
  22. They will get their chance one way or another, as we've seen this year. But I don't think it's the worst thing in the world for a young, inexpensive pitcher to force their way onto the team next year rather than being handed a spot.
  23. Understatement of the century. I think Bauer stays in Cincinnati. They have aligned their entire operation to what he would love, it's out of the spotlight, and they can get close enough.
  24. missed 100% of this game, but thoroughly enjoyed the push notifications
  25. Charlie Blackmon is doing incredible stuff right now, very hot. I don't want to take that away from him. MLB app continuing to push notify me that he is "chasing Ted Williams" is really annoying. He's not chasing Ted Williams. That's all I have to say.
