No I'm just giving my thumbs up to the idea to provide some counterbalance to the overwhelming negative sentiment toward it

I think there is something special to the selectivity of baseball playoffs. But, for me that doesn't come close to outweighing how disappointing it is when you have a pretty damn good year and miss the playoffs due to circumstance. 2010 was one of my favorite years in the 21st century teams. 2006 and 2003 were really special to me. 2012 was meh. Was 2008 really much better than any of those teams? Not at all, but it holds such a bigger place even with a pretty uneventful first round series (obviously game 163). I would definitely be way happier if all of those were playoff teams. If you have a ~.530 win percentage you should be pretty much in the playoffs.

Expansion and bigger playoff pool ?

I have been pretty just at a loss for words at state and local leaders, even ones who have taken the threat seriously from the start, how they continue to make such a big spectacle about outdoor gatherings and activity and whose communications are more about personal guidance in situations than which situations are safe. Illinois' 3 Ws they keep pushing give the appearance that doing those three things can make you safer in any situation they have deemed legal. But Japans 3 Cs actually did a better job of letting people know which types of situations are safe. Being in a crowd outside with masks on is better than being 6 ft apart in a restaurant without masks. It just is. Even if you washed your hands. That the friggin lakefront trail was the last thing to open up after restaurants is insanity. I think it gets to the damage of those wide lens shots. The outside shots of a lot of people look more intimidating than a full restaurant, but one is way worse than another! Everyone should wear a mask at this point and wash hands. But the third component is helping people reduce their exposure to risky environments with your public communications, not just trying to teach them how to behave the best in the riskiest environment. Anyway at this point I know the hardest part for local politicians is shutting down restaurants now...you know no fed support is coming. It's just bankrupting them. And there is no "when it gets under control" for restaurants. You are not possible to be open in 2020 except for takeout/outdoor/drivethru. Who is willing to admit that and compensate them for this? It will not happen. State govts cannot fiscally support that, the Fed govt can.

I've decide my viewpoint is I like it for the sides/outfield, will not like it in the scout seats behind the batter.

gonna guess this isn't happening.

I think it's just an uncanny valley issue for me. All video game - fine. Real life + cardboard - great, funny. Real Life + Video Game - distracting.

I hope so. Probably the best case would be market tanking though.

Would you trade for Mookie Betts, and what would you trade

12 years allows you to be more competitive around betts for the entirety of the contract, which you can also see in the deferred money, lower salary for 21/22. -
This is sweet. That said, it's not that I don't think teachers and students can't handle the situation gracefully. It's that I'm still not convinced the learning outcomes are near as good, and that's a big issue. Spring was bad, but I do think many don't realize how difficult it was to navigate the technology gaps among students. What made it worse was wuhan's shutdown had caused a supply shortage of laptops, which made the bulk orders difficult to acquire. Some of that is resolved, and the plans for online learning are much more disciplined and rigorous than what was thrown together in spring, often designed so that students who may not have access to a computer all day could do it on own time. And many bulk Chromebook orders have been put through by school districts in meantime. That said, still think the youngest kids need to be in class for some period. Maybe 10 is realistic cut-off for online learning, and use the entire school for k-3.

This was similar to reports from Hong Kong in spring:

What do you mean by violations?

Two warning track fly outs for José. I think ball is actually carrying though because didn’t look like he got much of either -

I’ve wanted this for so long -
I do think there is a difference in baseball. Basketball and Hockey both have the feeling that the real season is when the playoffs start, and both leagues see over half the teams make the playoffs. In baseball the regular season is the real season, and frankly the 1-5-7 escalation of the baseball playoffs does make it feel more flukey until the LCS.

lol I can't believe I did this again. 2008 ruined me forever.

I do agree with this.

Naw, sorry, I was told up and down that he is not signing before FA. And no, the sox would actually be fucking awesome with Mookie Betts for the next 13 years so this is also wrong. -
You tell science!

I would say that we should use some existence of priors and base rates + 2 negatives + no symptoms would make it extremely unlikely that someone has it, rather than letting extreme scenarios instead define that because something could happen it is likely to happen.
