Kris Bryant loses grievance
If trading moncada makes them better over the next 4 years you consider it. But you are overvaluing years 5-7 when you don't have near enough information to do so. The rebuild has developed a fetishism of the long-term that has made it feel like it is always worth sacrificing the immediate year just to improve competitive odds 6 years from now.

Badler Day - our 2020 Intl Review
so BA did a "top 100 prospects of the latam class 2019" Sox only had one guy, it was yolbert (at #33). Just hope they either way overproduced from the penalty classes or were right about tatis/sanchez

Kris Bryant loses grievance
They could have an arbitrator rule. Players could submit independent evals and opinions from independent sites like BA saying they were likely ready and likely to be better than what was live, teams could provide internal statements, etc. If a bearing on the ruling is what is available on mlb roster, it could provide more jobs to vets as teams try to show they had a better option on the club. I could see it being better than this.

ESPN looking to remove Jessica Mendoza from Sunday Night Baseball
I don’t think this is right though. Thomas, Arod, Ross were mostly just guys that hang around and do some spot coaching in spring training and are generally available for org events. Mendoza, at least in her announced position, they said she’d have input in player evals and roster construction. That’s a different level of access.

Mieses and Comas were on track at least. Kannys the jump, so we’ll see who has a possible big league future quick.

absolutely. It was insane either side allowed that.

Awesome on Thompson/Dalquist. That's about what they did with Adams too (though adams/danish pitched a bit more their first year post draft). Kanny/W-S not going to be the most fun this year, but Kanny still has some stuff to watch. Really excited for short-season ball though and see some of the progression from last year. Bounce back years for Bush/Sosa would be great.

Soxfest news and notes
Tough to summarize. But it was first time I’ve ever heard him, not even sure I remember an article interview after his new role. Hes very enthusiastic and I appreciated that he got really wonky while explaining things very clearly. He covered a couple times the difficulty scouting prospects across different maturity curves, such as a prospect from Vanderbilt who is already on a mlb nutrition and hitting plan be a guy at Indiana state. He brought up that Gladney was drafted by them largely because he was an EV darling at a workout they held. He said they would not favor college over high school under him (and I believe him). I appreciate how available Hostetler made himself to blogs and media, but he was a bit arrogant and loved to mostly talk about how much they knew about guys. Shirley loved to talk about the process of evaluating guys. He was super interesting. This from Y2Jimmy summed up my thoughts

Reading your posts you'd think little women bombed instead of making $130 million worldwide on a $40 million budget.- Castellanos to Reds , rumored 4/64M
But he was a 130 wRC+ player 2 years ago and 121 wRC+ last year, and has averaged 120 wRC+ over 4 years.- Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
Romine, that crappy guy they just signed.- COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Good luck and stay safe.- Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
Plus I never know what to make of it when they move a guy to be pretty much a full time 2b in minors. Someone pointed out they used him all over in september, but still worry about the isseu if moncada is out with a hammy or something for 3 weeks. Now madrigal may be the answer here, and we instead can just focus on what's available in 2b which there is a bit more there.- Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
If anything I don't believe in Leury as a backup infielder. I really think we need something more substantial on the left side of the infield.- Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
That's not true. He called poppys opinion complete bullshit, then agreed with half of it, then expressed an opinion poppy already got at by saying engel would have never had 1000 abs with any other club. Poppy said people hate on these guys so much because they were overexposed, and they were. I'd rather get a true safety net this year, but all poppy has said was leury and engel are good bench spots, and I don't think that's "complete bullshit". - **Movies that we Watch** Thread
