  1. love this. @southsider2k5 was nice enough to invite me to a game last year where I brought my son. Twins blew us out with 15 homers, I can't even remember who started (Covey? Despaigne?) but had an absolute blast with my son. Don't get to watch as much of the game, but watching him fall in love with baseball is worth it.
  2. Oooh hell yeah that was a good game.
  3. Yeah I haven’t been to many classics, but went to a great Red Sox v White Sox game where Pedro went head to head vs Frank Thomas in an epic 11 pitch at bat with the bases loaded. Pedro Kd him on a disgusting pitch. Crede then hit a 3 run HR a few innings later and we won. for pure HOF fire power, I’ll never forget that. Also saw a great game vs Indians where Sox were up like 8-0, Indians tied it, then Jose Valentin walked them off.
  4. Regardless, down for a very fast 16 year old.
  5. Especially at 16
  6. We don't have a great leadoff hitter anywhere or one coming up. I think Moncada is probably one of the better ones we could do but I don't like him first.
  7. Well he already was the invisible VP then when his gm sucked he went back to being visible then it turned out he was also bad and now he's back to being invisible...when he should just be gone. Michael Reinsdorf has just grown up around these guys and they are his family now, it's like asking Billy Madison to fire Carl.
  8. Jon Greenberg made a great point. The bulls are now pointing to the White Sox org structure as a model to follow, but when the sox did it they were pointing to the bulls (paxson vp, forman gm) as a model to follow. You are right though, they have less baggage than knicks despite all of this. Giving the reigns of the freakin bulls over to someone can get you some top talent. But this just seems like a lot of strings. Raid the clippers/Nuggets or truly go after Rapts with all of the goodwill money pax has given you. Pax kept saying he would resign if he couldn't do job then accepting this new role is hilarious to me.
  9. cool keep us updated.
  10. All - each offseason we close the MLB forum (Diamond Club) and open up Pale Hose Talk to all baseball news to increase discussion. With Spring training starting, we opened back up the MLB forum, and this will go back to being a white sox only forum. I'm on fence about the astros scandal as it has a big sox part of it, so we'll leave it here for now.
  11. Him moving up to a top ten player would be good for sox regardless.
  12. Eh this doesn't phase me at all. His babip will be lower. He had an amazing year last year, but he's a great player. He can mitigate the loss of babip by cutting Krate even more, which is reasonable. But yeah, I quibble with the "didn't improve at all". His approach meant putting 9% more balls in play (reduced k/reduced BB), but those balls weren't just weak contact he was throwing on the ball. He found more pitches he could hit hard, and it may have been a flukey babip, but he hits the shit out of the ball so good things happen.
  13. Shields is a FA still. We could still tilt this out way.
  14. What should we argue about?
  15. I couldn’t stop laughing reading the Cowley piece. Forman being reassigned lololol
  16. Yeah that is some opening weekend
  17. Eh, astros would definitely be fine with cheating their way to best record ever with no shame.
  18. Just thinking of this makes me remember how much 2018 sucked. Giolito was the worst pitcher in baseball. Moncada was underperforming. Then Kopech comes up and all of baseball media is watching. We get two innings. Then the next start he’s blown out, his fastball is weirdly low and suddenly he’s gone for TJS. Eloy was the thing keeping it all afloat. 2019 everything just flipped on it’s head in the best way. But I think I still have worst case scenario 2018 thoughts around kopech, fun to think about how he could come up and shove.
  19. I feel like “local prep position player” is something they have ignored a lot recently
  20. love that bit about the change
  21. Perfect game has him at Arkansas so I’ll hold out hope. Seems like an Indians guy though, he’s not the youngest but pretty young.
  22. So if writeups (pretty much how I judge people) Masyn Winn is one of my favorites to maybe have budget for in round 2. Any big positives negatives around him? Guessing his bat is more raw.
  23. yeah was implying college anything. Each draft is different though. Had we drafted last years draft at 11 I wouldn't have profiled any specific type, though I guess Manoah was fine. I think sox may have gone Priester then.
  24. I'd be fine always going advanced college first round if they always experimented with preps in 2nd/3rd/4th like last year
  25. would buy a book of just passan articles on this : https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28693762/what-make-houston-astros-owner-jim-crane-public-non-apology
