  1. I'm fairly confident that soxtalk hivemind would be a pretty good scouting director.
  2. Nate 3:13 Keith, it is very strange to see the White Sox drafting players high up on your board. Does this indicate a change in strategy or are you secretly advising Rick and Nick? Keith Law 3:13 Definitely not advising them, and I don't think they need my help either. Really strong draft for them so far.
  3. In order to get the slot amount the kid has to sign or you lose it.
  4. Let's all congratulate Dan Metzdorf for being $5,000 richer!
  5. He uh, has a nice ERA. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=198219
  6. Uhh, guess we got our first senior signee.
  7. I like the slot amount mlb.com has on draft tracker!
  8. I'm just here to watch at this point. I like Maverick Handley.
  9. Your sister could probably throw as hard as Stinson did this year than, too.
  10. If Beard makes it to the majors in a bench capacity its still a really good pick.
  11. I wonder if this is the same scout that plucked Anderson. Obviously big risk this guy never sees A+, but in the fourth round, this is a great value. Huge tool and others developing, along with reasons he was pushed down that are largely circumstance. It relies a lot on luck but, lets hope we got really lucky.
  12. That's all you can do, we're working off of 2 paragraph blurbs that all say variations of the same thing.
  13. Wait a second...I like the Reds draft?
  14. I definitely could have put together a different draft I'd be psyched about, but while I usually convince myself that every player could be good, I am very pleased with the draft strategy and use of resources. But, like, I am very happy with the thought in drafting thompson, but I would have really loved tre fletcher, antoine kelly or mo hampton.
  15. That is awesome. Really pumped about that pick.
  16. BA James Beard Loyd Star HS, Brookhaven, Miss.OF Notes: Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 160 | B-T: R-R Commit/Drafted: Meridian (Miss.) JC Scouting Report: Beard is the fastest player in this year’s draft class. He’s an easy 80-grade runner, but this spring he showed he is more than just a speedster. Playing in the same area against similar competition as the speedy Jerrion Ealy, Beard showed a better bat as well as some strength in his hands and his swing. Compared to last summer, Beard carried a little more weight and significantly more strength this spring. His newfound strength paid off in improved bat speed and gap power—he hit 11 home runs in addition to 25 steals in 26 attempts. He has a chance to develop into an average hitter thanks to his speed and solid swing. Beard does not project as a power hitter by any stretch, but he has shown he’s can run into 10-12 home runs in pro ball. Defensively, Beard outruns his mistakes for now, but he has potential to be an above-average center fielder with more experience to improve his routes and reads. Beard has some refining to do, but he has some of the best athleticism in the class.
