Ruiz man.- Jake Burger Thread
Considering the timing I bet he starts in AZL- 2005 Championship team and WAR....
That was my first thought as well.- Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
Love sending business letters in the mail.- Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
You know, he was able to get a lot of time in the major leagues whereas had he been claimed by most other teams he would have never had the chance. This is a happy story even if he didn't produce at the level he wishes he could have.- Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
He's given up no runs in the majors!- Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
Why did you include Marshall?- 6/10 Games
DSL won 5-2: - Anthony Espinoza (a guy): 2-4, BB, 2 2b - Pineda (sort of a guy): 2-4 - Leal/Bernal/Bailey: 2 BB a piece. This team actually doesn't strike out that much (one dude had 4 ks but the rest only had 5). That's one of my favorite parts of DSL, how all of the hitters strike out all the time but none of the pitchers strike anyone out. Homer Cruz struck out 5 over 5 with only 1 ER. He's 19 and signed this year so probably nothin. Oriel Castro is 18 and struck out 3 over 3.- Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
I merged them but I just want everyone to know I did it before I saw this so it had no influence.- FS Podcast: Keith Law
His top 50 report had him as "solid command and control" for his age so I think that's why I didn't pick up on it as much, but the "he could start in college right away" probably was the bigger tell.- 6/10 Games
DSL team performing well early this season.- Jake Burger Thread
Fegan didn't have an explicit update but mentioned that he had a target date that has now been skipped past, it was a sign of just how difficult an injury he was coming back from.- FS Podcast: Keith Law
That was really exciting as it's not something I'm sure I picked up on. Continuing to get a better read on Beard. So yes, tools are there, exciting package and believes he can hit, but the risk profile is higher for him due to geographical reasons (MS being a poor baseball locale for development), but it's somewhat mitigated by his unique speed. He's going to be fun to watch, and considering the pitchers probably won't work much this year, he's going to be easy to focus on in AZL.- 2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
All pitchers are big flame out candidates. Wow, still true and also not at all interesting.- 2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
No, and no.- FS Podcast: Keith Law
Law's point on slow playing robert because he's played so little and physically is likely to wear down makes a lot of sense.- What options does Renteria have with Yonder Alonso?
Still going to bat 4th, we don't want to make it too easy against their bullpen, you see.- FS Podcast: Keith Law
FS is doing such a great job with content, great draft stuff. Props on getting Law on.- FS Draft Review: Observations and Takeaways
Great stuff. Agree on the "hit on 16" angle on Vaughn. I had no idea Beard was so high up on Law's board. Definitely seemed to be a split on the info on him based on those that may have seen him this spring vs. those that saw him summer before. That is awesome that he was ranked so high by Law as it shows some scouts really believing in the bat. He has a long way to go though. I kinda think that Oregon catcher in the 27th round was interesting, he converted from the outfield recently. His stats were pretty good, maybe he'll have a lot of athleticism back there.- Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
He strikes out 10% more batters, 10th among relievers. Colome is 58th. The market will answer this soon enough.- Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
2.5 years up to the deadline, maintaining his k rate above 30% and up to 34% at time of trade. That reduces the reliever risk.- 2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
I wouldn't be opposed to that to get the top high school pitcher, but I will say Allan specifically makes me worried because there was a lot of concern he is a big flame out candidate: "Allan isn't very projectable and is an average athlete, while his command has been consistently below average with this higher octane stuff, so some teams worry this is a classic prep righty bust where clubs fall in love with the raw stuff. His velo would also sit 90-93 at times down the stretch and some teams are worried there could be a minor medical hiccup, which, combined with Allan's $4 million pricetag and committment to Florida, could make him the second most likely prep player in the draft to go to college behind Jack Leiter." - Fangraphs- 2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
I think the article lost me with its premise that the Sox punted all value for the 3rd pick, which is an unknown at this point. - 2019 MLB Draft and Signing Tracker
