  1. It is not tongue in cheek, he is 35 years old. He has played 4 straight years of below average offense. His power has regressed to a near .100 iso. His krate has increased the last 3 years. What it would look like if he starts becoming .05 slower to first, or if his bat speed slows down and his discipline falters, is he becomes an unplayable ball player because his hard hit rate is in the 2 percentile. He got to 1.5 WAR by playing a lot. It is nice to prevent the other god awful players from playing, but if he regresses the way it would be extremely likely for a 35 year old player who doesn't walk and relies to on speed to do, it is a waste.
  2. No, he’s going to fall off a cliff and be out of baseball next year. It’s an awful signing by an awful org.
  3. I thought it was better to trade him this offseason but gotta tell you I’m a little down now with the other pitchers becoming available and my pessimism over Baltimore being aggressive. But it’s still better than Hahn trading him for whatever gave him the highest rankings in the spring BA 100
  4. I think I had the first actual trade for outman trades. First was before 2022, where I was hoping Kimberly could land Jacob Amaya and Outman + salary relief. Outman had just started to show off power that year and seemed blocked. Last year I had him moving in a package for Hendriks, I think. But as you said it was predicated on the early rumors of them going after Judge and other top OFers. Once they truly had an of that included trace thompson it seemed unlikely.
  5. He was 6.4 in this org. Once pitchers have shown the kind of dominance Cease has, they tend to retain value. People kept taking shots at Shelby miller after he was absolute garbage. Or Lance Lynn getting $10 million. Pitchers are volatile, Cease is available and has great stuff. That’s valuable beyond any immediate recent results.
  6. Bowers is more of a U tight end that will play off the line, unlike Kmet and more like Packers TE Musgrove. But your whole comment is just so stupid I can’t handle it.
  7. I don't think that's 4D, that's pretty straightforward. I do think having watched a decent amount of the league the last few weeks, that the bears QB situation is not terrible. And while it is scary to pass on what could be two very good QB prospects and raise the chance you miss out on a 2020 like class (Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Hurts), you can also have the opportunity to trade down out of 1, still get marvin harrison, still have another first rounder next year. Really, I'm not sure it's even necessary to draft Alt/Fashanu. Jones has looked pretty damn good. You get a real center, which the FA class looks ok there, and it's a good group, albeit with some injury risk at guard. So you could potentially have an extremely fun top draft class of MHJ + Bowers. But after watching Laiatu Latu on saturday i'd be pretty happy with MHJ + Latu.
  8. If top betting choices were baltimore and LAD I'm taking the field for sure.
  9. Their entire top ten was pretty brutal, tbh. Lots of the kind of caveats the sox have too many of.
  10. $10 mill continues to be this baseline amount for any pitcher who is feasible to pitch 120 innings in a starting role, no matter how terribly.
  11. I get what you are saying but this org is also missing offensive firepower in the minors.
  12. Nice signing. They are still keeping maximum room for 2024 too.
  13. We could just not trade eloy if that was such a concern. But I can't imagine there being a concern that we will lack a 4 hole hitter on the 2024 white sox that we should demand a different prospect package.
  14. You know, I get the people defending it. But whatever, I do think that is a huge red flag.
  15. Rodon/DeGrom/Ray are only 1 year in. Bauer...i mean come on. Grienke/Darvish they got out of pretty easily. Corbin they didn't, but did win a world series...I think they'll take it. Sox fans pine for more aggressive spending but have a real Reinsdorf mentality. When you sign these players to a contract you don't have to keep them that whole contract. You can trade them and eat some of the cost but largely operate as normal. It's not that big of a deal.
  16. Yeah busch is giving me extreme willie calhoun vibes. I don't know what the dodgers will do. Are they less likely to let go of Pepiot/Sheehan now that they contributed last year? Sheehan + Rushing seems like a good package. I don't really want to go after Stone after his second half. But after that it is a concerning group of pitchers. Stone fell off a lot in the second half. Frasso could have us add to our collection of pitchers who have not pitched more than 100 innings. Hurt is interesting, but feels like he'd be bullpen here. I don't know, Rushing + De Paula (who is guaranteed to be a DH here) + Bruns + Wroblewski probably would not inspire many here but it adds some high end offensive power and Bruns has the kind of arm that Katz seems to have done well with (?). I'd be really happy to get Rushing. Gives Quero more time to develop as a catcher, and could go from there.
  17. I would just find it confusing. Loved him as an option when he seemed blocked and we needed outfield depth and he seemed like he was overlooked. But trading for a guy who will be 27 in May, when we are so far from competing? Seems a bit confusing for to me. Do people here realize he was an older rookie?
  18. Back side of the deal but I like Wroblewski as a piece from dodgers.
  19. Yeah I realized after that us winning is a bigger loss if it keeps this absolutely horseshit coaching staff.
  20. Getsy really thought multiple times running into 12 defenseman on the line up the middle would be the play
  21. It is so bizarre to me how poorly starting pitchers do in arb. Relievers are treated better
