  1. Thames is a good choice. Not gonna find many hitting coaches with any experience who doesn't have a stop that didn't work out. I think I've repeated too many times that I really liked the yankees FO + coaching staff during that era. I mean to be honest I also would have liked Sean Casey the yankees hitting coach who took over this year, but seems like he quit because he didn't want to be a full-time HC. I just really want to fire marco paddy though, personally.
  2. You want to trade Dylan Cease for a fourth outfielder yeah great trade. Walker proved himself as an outfielder to end the year. The cardinals do a weird thing where they actually coach players defensively. Despite it working, the white sox are extREEEMELY skeptical.
  3. Listen I know you all hate him but his height is really impressive!
  4. I also thought we hired Eric Thames. And a shocker, they aren't even related:
  5. I see STL dumping Carlson for pitching, not Nootbar. Seems like he's just a "move to the outfield" candidate, but I'd love Tommy Edman. Unfortunately, what they need is pitching.
  6. The White Sox Daily guys all intimated it was Thome.
  7. there is literally only one person I care to hear from on this.
  8. Why don’t they have a shot? DeJong isn’t going to earn much more than minor league signing
  9. Yeah. Guys there isn’t a single offensive upgrade, but DeJong is a strong defender. And he’s tall. May be a good influence for uh…a tall SS coming up. but also he’ll be like barely a $3M deal. If you were worried about quixotic spending to doom this should alleviate you.
  10. Pedro not in top 3 for AL manager of the year award https://x.com/jeffpassan/status/1721682038279835710?s=46&t=9lkBcVJmwvxFpyVi5DNtCg
  11. dude they are licking their chops at hader. just gonna bullpen back in man.
  12. um no. Their offensive line has been extremely banged up in houston. Nobody would have said his weapons were strong, they traded their veteran in Cooks to Dallas. He's just extremely good. And contrary to popular belief in Chicago, there is no QB plan that does not involve being able to occasionally throw into the middle of the field or short passes to avoid catastrophic 2nd and 47s due to a sack.
  13. k so if I am chris getz, my goals for the year: - Learn whether your new pitching group is capable of getting value out of lower-mid tier free agent pitchers from your pro scouting group - Do not sacrifice defense for marginally better offense. You have a bunch of young pitchers likely to integrate this year and providing them with good defense & a veteran battery should be there to help. - Make some investments in longer term pieces and don't sign older players who are likely to be on their last stop because you like the cut of their jib. Spotrac Current Sal: $115M Using Spotrac Market Estimate (which is garbage ) Paul DeJong $3,000,000 Isiah Kiner-Falefa $6,000,000 Jason Delay $750,000.00 (TRADE: Pittsburgh is going to put Henry Davis behind the plate with Endy. I like Delay! Hopefully he costs just a minor international player, like a Tatis Jr) Jung Hoo Lee $18,000,000 5 years, $90M Pitchers Sean Manaea $18,000,000 2 years, $40 Million with $5 million player option buyout) Lucas Giolito $11,000,000 Brad Keller $6,000,000 Bullpen Pitchers Jordan Hicks $3,500,000 Brent Suter $3,500,000 Total: $185,750,000 I think I posted in wrong thread but this is in the half-ass compete territory) Lineup: C - Jason Delay / Korey Lee / Carlos Perez / the rest of the boys 1B - Andrew Fawn (because he hits like a baby deer) 2b - Kiner-Falefa / integrate sosa/jose rodriguez SS - Paul DeJong / integrate sosa/jose rodriguez / Colson in Sept 3b - Yoan Moncada / integrate Bryan Ramos Later LF - Andrew Benintendi - because you can't do anything else CF - Luis Robert RF - Jung Hoo Lee / Gavin Sheets DH - Eloy Jimenez P Dylan Cease Sean Manaea Lucas Giolito Brad Keller "Michael Kopech" -> Nastrini et al BP: (need a bunch of minor league signings too) Gregory Santos BUMmer Jordan Hicks Brent Suter Crochet Deivi Garcia / Ramsey (who is tall) / all the rest of the trash Rule 5 pick 46 wins
  14. Reinsdorf, choking on his cigar "You mean to tell me this Counsell fella is forty-times better than Pedro?!?! These owners har har har"
  15. I don't want a DC, but Mike MacDonald of the Ravens is putting together a hell of a resume. Not forever opposed to D coaches, however, the bummer for him is being tied to offensive staffs that would be hard to pull from. Todd Monken is awesome, but who knows what of that staff is worth betting your offense on around him. Same problem for Lou Anarumou for cincy. Not sure there is that much excitement about what Zac Taylor actually runs to pull from that offensive staff. Meanwhile, Demeco Ryans was able to pull from Shanahan and found a gem in Bobby Slowik.
  16. signing hader would have to be one of the funnier signings.
  17. honestly if they did that I would still put us at like 75 wins.
  18. Maenea/Flaherty are more likely to take one of the 1 year or 1 year + player option deals to build back value. Stroman is gonna find another multi-year deal more than likely. I don't think sox should shop in that for a guy that old.
  19. First- obviously Getz will fail. However - hiring bannister/katz as a duo should indicate a team that can unlock free agent pitchers like the Giants do. This year should be them figuring out if that is true. That’s like the one thing they can accomplish. The offense next year may be worse than the As this year. Possibly worst ever.
