Truly a joy to watch this game.
-
I guess it’s just kinda out of order to me. Build some chemistry and then get sent down with different guys for the latter half
-
Why is that?

No team can ever establish a culture in their players when the culture of the management is that of blame-shifting and complacency. That is what the players have done, and we hate the players. That's what this manager is, and we hate the manager. It's what the management has been for...ever

I know we always talk about him and corey seager, but theres a lot of swings where I can't help but think of Kyle Tucker's. Not as pronounced a ted williams wrap-around as Tucker. Granted, production wise both are similar. Texas has certainly played up for Seager.

Well, the pitching team they are putting together would be one that has shown success shopping in the short term, medium FA market and finding success. Regardless of what happens, this year's FA focus should be testing the competence of that group with a number of mid-market pitchers. Ideally they find their version of Alex Cobbs, Gausmans, Desclafanis, Alex Woods, etc. But the white sox in 2024 are going to be bad, in every universe.

I’ve watched two partial games. Sadly, I don’t really know how to watch much more than “is the puck going toward the net or not” but getting better. Not sure I’d be able to tell you by end of year anything knowledgeable about Korchinsky unless he like scores a bunch probs

I do think there is something to a deal that gets you Gorman (LH power) and a Tommy Edman for a Cease. It's an non-traditional deal, but as you move around Moncada, you get a real solid 2b and more legitimate LH power (worse d, undoubtedly) Why do this for Cards? Gorman at 2b isn't working out. They have Mason Wynn arriving for SS and they have brendan donovan. I don't think this is realistic but I do think it's an interesting Kenny Williams trade.

I’ve done too much of this thinking. We’ll see. Again, I would still come out net positive for Getz if the cost of getting a real operation in the minors/intl is getting a bunch of old players Pedro and Jerry can be friends with. But not positive enough to succeed. Can’t think of too many playoff teams right now that weren’t trying to be good at all facets of team building,

While I'm cautiously optimistic about the moves to bring outside talent to the farm system though its yet to truly happen... I kinda wouldn't be surprised if what happens is we decide not to pick up TA's option, and trade for Javier Baez/Salvador Perez and that's your culture shift.

Andrew Vaughn and Eloy: what's the plan here?
bmags replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
His RF numbers were fine, yet I just can't bet on a soon-to-be 35 year old who was tried for 100+ innings at first base. -
I will be watching tonight. Forgive me as I bandwagon back into the nhl thread.

I hate this concept. I don’t care if an nfl QB is more accurate than the common high school QB. Trubisky was not accurate beyond 15 yards, not as consistently as any good QB needs to be. Fields inaccurate games were inaccurate because he was throwing it consistently at his targets feet or behind them. He’s not always this way, but it’s also not that rare. It may be because he’s not anticipating well, the timer getting late and his mechanics break down under pressure, but it’s inaccurate nonetheless.

Yes, I agree. He was probably thrilled about the execution of Robin Venturas letting go, where they could just not renew his contract. He's probably extremely annoyed at the thought of firing and paying out someone.
-
I didn't do a good enough job reading but Sara Goodrum the farm director was hired by Click from the Brewers. So, probably shouldn't give credit for Framber. Nonetheless, Brewers/Astros seems a good experience to see two orgs much better at pitching development than us (to say the least)
-
I would recommend Getz sniff around here. https://theathletic.com/4945317/2023/10/09/astros-split-assistant-gm-bill-firkus/ Dana Brown coming from the Braves is not just going to take over the same operation, so it makes sense. It should be a great opportunity to steal people from an org that has done an incredible job developing pitching, especially the pitchers that Marco Paddy apparently likes (Framber Valdez was an 18 year old signing for cheap, not 16 which is bad per JR) Now...why would you join chris getz and the white sox? Lol I don't know.
-
I just don't believe it. If JR really hated him I can't believe he'd be here. I truly think that outside 2005, the 2015 royals were probably JR's ideal version of baseball and I think Pedro is both a kiss-ass and also telling JR what he wants to hear: - Prospects are risky - Old vets like Andrus are great - Primadonna high played players are bad - Bullpen is important and where you should spend your money, not your starters It's like just a beautiful story he can put together for Jerry.
