“Big Getz from the outside”

AZ has built a super young wild card team, has been a top farm for years now. They are led by one of the most complete players in baseball and he’s in year 2. It’s a great place to pick for player dev.

Bannister / Barfield had playing days that would have overlapped with Getz career. I’d imagine there’s some personal recruiting. And then the Royals connection with Watson.

This is pretty thorough getting outside help from three serious deficiencies. If he replaces Paddy with the former Nats intl scouting director DiPuglia and I’d be all ears. And no, I don’t think paddy was a bad scout but just think he was too narrow in his operation and checked out.

Katz also has a background with the giants though.

Watson I assume is to take over pro scouting. This is real outside talent. Kudos to Getz.

he had some horrendous blocks, one play a CB damn near pushes him into the end zone on an end around (they were at midfield). He started in motion and prevented wright from getting out of his stance leading to a block. Just so many dumb plays.

A lot of stuff. 1st - COVID. Gave everyone an extra year of availability. It also led to only a 5 round draft in 2020 that pushed a lot of "draft eligible" players that may have entered MLB to go back an extra year, leading to a cascade effect of a lot of older prospects entering the system each year as the next borderline guy gets crowded out. 2nd - He tore his ACL in 2021, despite that, he didn't elect for surgery, going thru rehab and then coming back a month later. But that relegated him to first. He elected to come back another year, where they won the CWS. He always K'd a lot, had big power, was a corner infielder. But he's awesome. He may not be an awesome major leaguer, very likely not, but obviously put his name on the game of baseball as a whole more than most ball players ever will.

I do wonder how much better our oline would look if he got the ball out faster. But man, so many players are playing like idiots (claypool game 1, kmet game 2). I hope this is the low point, but hard to feel that when this is now 19 games in and they have regressed in so many facets. That said, there WAS a ton of turnover in the offseason. That may explain the rest. For Justin, I just can't shake that awful 2nd quarter play where he had like 8 seconds to throw and 5 open receivers and just crumbled into the guard.

yeah, especially with the impact getting proper 1b defense seemed to have on birmingham. Adding a real catcher in Quero and then 1B made that team a ton more competitive even with that pitching staff. BUT - I like BA's lists. Definitely comes from a love of watching the minor leagues rather than identifying hot prospects and I like that perspective too.

I do think, grand scheme of things, being in a good position with this QB class is gonna be one of those bursts of good luck in a bad situation. But the overall roster has got to improve. It is still very young/inexperienced. Ideally we feel better about our new RT/secondary later in the year.

I still just don't buy that white sox player development is particularly more aggressive in swing changes and pitching motion adjustments. I remember TA saying he was barely coached until AAA.

And the knock against poles to me is just that while he may not have set them back (and if he were fired, this job would look great with certainly a top 5 pick and potentially two top 10 picks, cap space, and an amazing draft year), we have yet to see one of his draft picks become anything like a game changer.

I think any good coach could have won at least one of the last 12 games for the bears even with talent deficiencies they had. NFL coaches aren't like baseball managers. They absolutely can raise the floor even if you ultimately need superior talent to be the best team in the league.

The zone control is what makes him such a sight to behold in our system. He had an incredible selectivity from day one. That was wild, but then he's only cemented it deeper into his profile as he's moved up. Boy, if they can actually get him to stick at short too.

from BA Him developing this, in the White Sox organization, is so wild. A huge testament to his natural ability and work ethic. What an awesome prospect.

But, hard not to see the end zone view of that play where he had about 4 seconds and a wide open receiver going up the seam and just ends up falling into his guard and think "yeah this guy is gonna be the long term savior"

Yeah, turning fields into a pocket passer in a dumb offense isn't saving anyones careers. Just let him run and deal with it. Crazy I can't even remember seeing some run-options where last year he would just cook the d end no matter if they played it right or not.

no pretty sure if they just release grandal and moncada they'll make 95 wins because it was just a clubhouse problem that Pedro needs time to fix not a talent one.

It shouldn’t be unbelievable but man did this level of bad take me by surprise. It truly feels cursed. Especially with how great so many of the coaches in the offseason when we picked flus. Embarrassing
