Palka does look skinnier from far away but up close looks the same.

Looked it up. Last year was 7 for 130 after falling behind 0-2. So...yeah awesome recovery there laying off a slider then ripping a single.

Banuelos looks pretty good but can’t get that sweeping slider in.

We used to at least get better control. This latest group of pitchers with him have all seemed to have traded off stuff while not finding control, so are afraid to throw in some because it gets torched.

This is fair. But the Sox could lean into the success lopez has on his slider and curve but it feels like are adamant in making him a 2 seam and change up pitcher.

Ultimately a nice opening series wouldn’t have meant anything in the grand scheme of the season but it would have done loads for maintaining my interest through these months. but watching out starters once again struggle to find the zone with weaker stuff than expected, and hitters chopping balls to second on the second pitch while defense is a mess... tough to be psyched.

He should be throwing like 80% curveballs but they keep trying to make his fastball low and away an out pitch. He’s missing it over and over.
