  1. I think grain of salt is required here. On one hand, with the sox record you should place a high likelihood of a college position player as a pick. Lets say 66% But on other hand kiley and eric have been off on the sox specifically. They had them on Swaggarty last year and Singer, and Kendell the year before that (along with jb bukauskas rumors). It has been college picks, it has not been what they've said. Sox scouts are probably easy to pick out of the big college players now, where a trip to columbia, mo and nashville are easy for F.O. to make the trips to see a bunch of talent than sending them to high school tournaments where it may be less of an all in one trip. But...it's probably vaughn.
  2. Alan 1:44 Too early to be asking draft intel on teams? Hearing anything with the White Sox at #3? Kiley McDaniel 1:44 Hearing Vaughn and Misner, so seems like they're still leaning college bats, as they have in past years (Zack Collins, Jake Burger, Nick Madrigal)
  3. He can throw 6 innings even if they do this.
  4. Probably true, according to Kenny, they were out on bryce when his prices started to exceed manny's (which he implied the sox valued manny more). So if they felt they came to bat with 250 for manny knowing they were out on harper, I tend to think your $400 is closer to right than $500.
  5. Yeah it doesnt really seem like the de escalation from giving up a 1st rounder to giving up a 2nd rounder (in most cases) has changed anything.
  6. I don't know, do you mean to tell me this isn't a sign of things to come?
  7. I agree but there are a lot of teams with cap space, bears to do that will need to target a specific player and execute, not worth doing it for the plan b's. That pre negotiating period will be interesting.
  8. Right and really you have to just hope he can stay above 90. But even if he goes to high 80s, you could be looking at some late era bartolo colon seasons (mets hopefully) which are still not particularly bad if you are getting a 3 year contract at decent rates. If he maintains though you could either have a productive, stable vet that you could trade if team is sucking. If he is ivan nova, then I still think you can get out of the contract and it was just worth a shot. But he may still be looking for 80 mill, I have no idea. At that price no thanks.
  9. If nothing else, showcasing covey in a role where he can show his optimal value versus shoehorning him into one that highlights his weakness could help create value during a year they are not competing. I'd have argued the same with Davidson. It's really a team set-up thing though. I believe in it for must win games, but don't feel like sox are talented enough to manage its value throughout the season which would put them at a disadvantage. But I feel like sox want to find traditional roles within the players they have, so letting them play out that role is probably best. This is the horse we have so may as well just let them figure out the way they want to play.
  10. This is insane. Leury is the best outfielder on this team.
  11. I have to say I love the BA guys but I canceled my subscription. I was shocked how little content comes in between big lists unless you follow college baseball. They need to do more writer chats.
  12. It's going to be a form of accurate. Waiting for some "breaking: Nick madrigal suspended 80 games for violating mlbs performance enhancing drugs policy"
  13. that hasn't helped either. Basically need to put him in a straight jacket when he gets to first base.
  14. Definitely reminds me of Moss/Rice team
  15. I have never seen any player get as many sliding injuries as him. I have to wonder if most players play through it? For a while since he bulked up so much between his cuban leagues and US debut I thought his body was adjusting, but it's ridiculous now.
  16. Its crazy, that org is a windsock right now. Heard Raiders may try to pull off an offseason of kyler murray, leveon bell, and antonio brown. It would be a fun circus at least. Definitely an oakland vibe to that group.
  17. Yes, he is supposedly pitching without restrictions.
  18. I assume its the substitute group but you are right I haven't seen robert in since friday. Also strange that Basabe is in that group.
  19. Yeah I think this will be one of the most interesting Charlottes since first few months of 2017. Would have been more interesting with Basabe, but alas.
  20. Jimenez/Anderson/Giolito vs. Pads Moncada/Madrigal/Cease vs. Cleveland
  21. Are you using "offensive" as a descriptor for position player or literally offensive rating?
  22. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-bulls-michael-reinsdorf-interview-20190304-story.html A painful read. KC Johnson toes the line of a decent, hard question but allows an unbelievable amount of wiggle room. It almost reads like it was an email?
