Maybe Cotts would be better if he started innings instead of coming in with a man already on base. I was surprised that El Duque started the 6th based on how he was pitching. He walks the first guy, Cotts comes on and I knew we were in trouble.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Yep we start proposing crazy save rules. Nice... well done.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Holds are more meaningless than saves. Personally, I hate the save rule because a 3-run lead is a reasonable lead to protect, and there is a misconception that if a "closer" has a lot of saves or has a good save conversion % he is a good pitcher. Billy Koch and Jose Mesa are not good pitchers, yet they made huge bucks because of the dumbass save stat. :headshake That's what I'm talkin' about. The only reason I started this topic was to point out that some pitchers get more credit than others, and I was trying to think of a way to rectify this point. I think Shingo is great, but his last two saves should be shared with Hermanson and Marte. Forget holds, nobody talks about those.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) Well, i guess I LACK VISION.....hahahah fine if were changing rules how about we add a line of red seats in the outfield and make it the "double" homerun mark.....how fun would baseball when you could double the runs of a homerun...... Now do I lack vision??? I think not I'm talking about a statistic not a rule change. But I guess this is to complex for you.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Okay, I think you're utterly wrong on this but still believe this is one of the funnier responses I've seen. So odd it's funny. What can I tell you, I work in the movie business, that's how we talk.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) haha, damn good point, this ends this post You lack vision.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) So, on the same thought Garcia should have only gotten 8/9 of a win yesterday? No. There are rules for wins already in place. That's why there is a difference between a win and a save. All I'm suggesting is that both Marte and Hermanson deserve some of the credit for getting two guys out in the 9th inning.
-
QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) You're crazy. And, BTW, Shingo pitched the full inning in the first game. I know that. For that game he would get a complete save. I'm talking about the one out in Minn. and the one yesterday. Now tell me why I'm crazy.
-
Having watched Singo get credit for two saves by only getting one out in each game, I was thinking it would be fair to divide saves into thirds, based on the last inning pitched. Under this system Marte would have earned 2/3's of a save and Shingo 1/3rd. Am I crazy or is there any merit to this idea?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) even though it hasnt showed yet i think Crede has improved greatly. You're dreaming.
-
Everyone would like to see Crede do well, because that would make us a winning team. But the reality is that Crede is one of those guys who for whatever reason could not make the jump from the minors to The Show. He is not a major league player, period. Replace him with Ozuna now.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Top 5TH B:1 S:1 O:1 Joe Crede lines out to left fielder Shannon Stewart. Top 5TH B:1 S:1 O:1 Joe Crede lines out to left fielder Shannon Stewart. Were both smoked. I f***ing hate Crede but you are blind if you deny he hit it hard tonight. He still sucks. -

Last week I thought I"d be in Chicago on business around April 4th, Alas it's not to be, but I went onto Ticketmaster throught the Sox web site, and it said no tickets were available for the opener.

If we're talking trades, is there a 3rd baseman to be had?

Just finished Tom Wolfe's "I Am Charlotte Simmons" and into Bob Dylans "Chronicles Vol. 1"

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) I hate to sound like an idiot, but what exactly are these players looking to gain immunity from? Is this implying that charges are going to be filed and punishments handed down? For what? As much as I really would love to hear some of these cheaters admit to their past indiscretions, I really don't agree with my tax money paying for an investigation. I don't understand the goal here. Steroid use outside of a doctor's prescription is illegal. If you admit to using steroids in a public hearing you leave yourself open to prosecution. If you deny using them and it is proved later that you did use them, you leave yourself open to a perjury charge.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Cubs pitchers blaming the wind on Comcast. Did the wind stop when we were pitching? Yes I think it did. I'm fairly certain that since the Sosa trade God has become a Sox fan.java script:emoticon(':pray') -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Wow. A 30 year old career minor league journeyman has a good week in hitter friendly Arizona and we are all set to replace a 2 time minor league MVP with him. I can see the logic in that. :headshake Look the logic is based on two things. 1) Crede's no good. He's had his shot and has not delivered. A third basemen on a contending team is traditionally a solid hitter, if not a feared power hitter. Do you guys really think Crede is somehow going to turn into Troy Glaus or Adrian Beltre? I don't happen to think so. 2) Osuna at short and Uribe at third fits the Ozzie ball mode. The combination of these two on the left side of the infield is the best we have at this time based on what I've seen. Uribe is a much better hitter than Crede, and can field just as well if not better. Osuna has good speed, is having an impressive spring at the plate and at short and is a much better #9 hitter than Crede would be.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) What makes you think Pablo Ozuna can be a starting SS in this league as well? The way he is playing this spring.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Whatever. You can "think" what you want. I'm more interested in seeing what the man can or cannot actually do. Whatever. We've already seen what he cannot do.
