It's okay, but it does tend to freeze up now and then. Keep in mind that last year, Direct TV lowered the price of their Extra Innings package after the All Star break.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) 3b..... You could propose Crede for him straight up.(Crede is a young, talented infielder meaning lots of trade value. It could be done.) I would have to look at the MI before making any more claims. I know they would have to put Edgardo somewhere. I don't think you can trade Crede. He's an FA next year and his agent is Borass. Who would want a 227 hitting 3rd baseman with the most obnoxious agent in baseball history?

My wife and I are driving down from LA for all three games.

My guess is if we really go after Chavez we will end up in a bidding war with The Dodgers who also need a real 3rd baseman, and bidding wars are dangerous -

My guess is he will end up with The Dodgers if they stay in the race. Money is not as much of an issue for LA and there is a strong connection between Billy Beane and Dodger GM Paul Depodesta. -
Since The crazy Oz is gonna be with us for awhile, we're going to need a veteran bench coach with the ability to whisper in Guillen's ear and tell him what to do, but make Ozzie thing it was his own idea.
-
Will Ozzie learn from his mistakes or after a win like this will he think he's a genius?

I went last year for the 1st time and saw the Yanks play the Red Sox. Yankee Stadium is really impressive. It is like going to Mecca. We sat halfway up in the upperdeck and had a great time. Yankee fans take their baseball very seriously. Not alot of innane conversation, instead everyone was watching every pitch. Taking the subway is great and only took about 15 or 20 minutes from Mid-town Manhatten.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Personally, I thought it was the changes the Yankees made that helped spark their run. Yea but it was really just one change: Bernie williams to the bench for Cano. Our one change is gonna be big Frank.

I went to all four games in Anaheim, and came away convinced after Thursday's loss that this team is due for a lot more losses in the coming weeks, because the hitting is so anemic. It's not just the lack of hits, but as others heve pointed out it's all the horrible swings so many of our guys are taking. Having said that; the worse thing a team can do is panic. Look at the Yankees. They have a horrible start, Steinbrenner goes crazy, but Torre remains calm. They made a couple of minor changes (Womack to left, Matsui to center, and put a rookie Cano at 2nd base.) But for the most part they held tight got through the bad start and are now tearing up the league. Are we as good as them? No. But this is our time to hold on and hope that things will turn around. Making panic moves will not improve things. We need to work Frank into the lineup as soon as possible, and hope for the best.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Couldn't have said it better. You're exactly right in what you say. We need a back-up for the left side of the infield that can fill in for a few games at a time when Uribe or Crede are struggling. Ozuna is a nice bench player, but I don't think he's a legitimate option to start 4 games in a week at 3b or SS. I think your right about Ozuna as an every day player, but I like the idea of lighting fires under Crede's and Uribe's asses. Let them sit a stretch of games so they know they need to produce. Especially Crede who should have caught that great throw from Perez last night.

I just got home from the game, and that was one sorry effort. Maybe it was the travel after playing yesterday, or a let down after wininng two of three against the Cubs but every at bat was weak except for the great Tadahito. Visciano has to be pushed to ther back of the pen. He is a waste of time.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Now hopefully that double can wake Everett's bat up. I can't believe how exciting this team is. Everett did wake up with his hit in the 8th that scored 2 runs

I love seeing Mr. Dye come around. We are getting better, even though we're already the best

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Awesome game. Hermy = Greatets Off-Season Acquisition so far. Where would we be without him and WITH Shingo closing? BTW, Dye = Worst.............so far. I am amazed at these guys, and don't count Dye out yet. Have faith, the summer is only starting
-
I am amazed, and I love watching this team. This is more fun than '83!
-
QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) Why is Dye still 5th? Other than the HR vs the Injuns, has he had any other hits? Guess who will be sitting down when Frank comes back? Sit him down now. Let Carl play right, and Gload can DH.

Ordonez calls Sox skipper his 'enemy'
Tannerfan replied to South Side Fireworks Man's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why is Ordonez living in the past? Most free agents sign with their new club and focus on the future. This guy brings up The Sox everytime someone sticks a microphone in his face. This boy got issues. -
Don't you guys remember Tony Larussa? And of course the great Chuck Tanner. These are the only 2 Sox managers who went on to manage World Series winners with other teams.

What impressed me was the 7th inning when Uribe booted a ground ball and Podesnick broke the wrong way on a fly ball. Two missplayed balls that should have been outs; two men on and even though we already had the big lead, many pitchers will crack after a couple of bad plays but Garland seemed relaxed. He stayed inside his own head and got the next guy to hit a ground ball to Iguchi for a double play. That is major league pitching.

Dear Mr. Nuke Cleveland, If your going to try and be funny with a racial stereo type, try to use one that applies. Chop Suey is an Americanized version of a Chinese dish, Shingo Takatsu is Japanese. Perhaps a reference to sushi would fullfill your needs. My advice is to leave humor to the professionals.

When I was a kid in the late 60's the Sox were pretty even with the Cubs in popularity. The Sox were good back then and were in a very exciting 4 team pennant race in '67 which the Red Sox won. Then the Sox went into the tank, and The Cubs took off. I remember my dad being filled with glee when the Cubs blew their 9 game lead to the Mets in '69. The White Sox have made so many marketing mistakes over the years it's a wonder they have survived at all. First they switched from WGN to WFLD ch 32 in "68. You cable generation kids probably never had to mess with rabbit ear antennas, but there were many nights that you just could not get decent reception. It was hell back then let me tell ya. Then they fired Harry Carey (a big mistake) and came up with Sportsvision, an idea ahead of its time. In both these cases it was if The Sox didn't think TV popularity mattered. Meanwhile several generations of TV watching kids were only exposed to The Cubs. The list goes on and on but I'm sure you get the idea. I actually think the trend could be reversed. I'm not sure the Cubs can go back to their lovable losers pose without alienating a fair amount of their fan base. It's interesting that some Cub players are getting booed these days. Plus if The White Sox could field a truly competitive team for several years in a row, win some division titles, and upset a power like the Yankees or Red Sox the fan base would swell and all would be right with the world.

I've had that surgery. If he's back that quick than he's a tough mother f'er

Okay I have a question for Seattle fans. Ozzie, our beloved manager, recently said to some reporters that none of our pitchers wanted to pitch to Olivo last year, that they all wanted to work with Alomar. Is there something wrong with Olivo that we did'nt know about? His rep is that he was a top young catcher with a bright future. Is that how Mariner fans feel about him or are they dissapointed?
