  1. There should be no question that you never send a utility infielder, who has never been a good hitter, up to the plate in the 8th inning of a 2 run game with the bases loaded. Especially in the middle of a pennant race. This is not a gut decision, it is not an interesting gamble, it is a move by a manager who is in over his head. When the team was on a roll Guillen's moves were not as critical. But now a manager has to know what he's doing and ours does not. You can't tell me that having Blum hit in the 8th doesn't get the players talking about what this guy is doing. My guess is he is losing the team, while we continue to lose games we should win. If we lose this whole thing how much confidence will anyone have in Guillen going into spring training next year? He is hanging himself with this type of idiocy.
  2. The only reasonable explination is Ozzie is pulling a Pete Rose and betting on base ball, ecept Rose claimed he never bet against his team...
  3. You could move homeplate back, remake the infield, and cutback on the amount of foul territory. When JR first bought the Sox the plate was moved up in old Comiskey, and was later moved back to it's original position several years later. Not that hard to do, and probably cheaper than removing seats, and we know Jerry loves things that are cheaper.
  4. Only one complaint tonight. Who let that stupid ass Johnny Woo-Woo into the park?
  5. The opening post is right on the money. We will be in 2nd place early next week, and will fall out of the wild card spot the following week. Last night when we were up by 5 the KC announcer pointed out that The Yankees, Red Sox and Indians had all won their games "which is what good teams do this time of year. " Our best pitchers are mediocre, our defense is failing, and our 3rd base coach has no idea when to send runners home and when not to. The fade will continue. there is no hope.
  6. It won't matter if the pitching is great if the line up does not start to produce runs. This season is no longer about great pitching. It's about an offense where every hitter is well below his carreer numbers.
  7. So like do you need a hangover remedy?
  8. Grinder Rule #47: If it's low and away, swing like a fool!
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) While I still believe the White Sox will win the division, I have lost alot of hope in this teams offense, in Ozzie Guillen as a manager, and in Kenny Williams as a general manager. I really don't see how you can blame Williams. Ozzie is debateable. Horrible as a stratagist, but pretty good at getting guys to play together as a team. I think you have to look at the players. I can't think of another team where the entire lineup is hitting well below their career averages. You want to blame the hitting coach, fine, but this is a veteran team really, and they should be able to study video of themselves and figure out what they're doing wrong.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) The offense was fading fast well before Pods went on the DL. Also, don't get your hopes up for a speed player coming back strong after a groin injury. It started to fade when Frank (remember him?) re-broke his ankle.
  11. Even though we were winning at the start of the season without Frank, I thought it was a bad deal when I heard he was lost for the year. His bat when healthy would have made a big difference over the last couple of weeks. I honestly thought the race would tighten without him, but I was hoping I was wrong, now I think I was right, and it's very sad. We are not going to win with this lineup.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I am one of the board optimists on here, everyone knows that. HOWEVER, we are all hoping the Sox win the whole god damn thing. If a team is supposed to do that, you need to beat the good ones. There isnt anymore "We ran into a good one." Were supposed to be the good ones. You want to be the Best, you have to be the Best. We don't and Can't do either. Well said. I'm afraid 2nd maybe even third place is about 2 weeks away. No runs no wins

  14. I guess I'm the only old time cynical, always think the worse Sox fan around here, but why are you guys discussing playoff rotations? We have been playing pretty bad lately, and a playoff spot is not locked up. Our lead is 8 and a half, we've lost every series at home since the all-star break, except for Seattle, and even yesterday we won with home runs not smart situational hitting, or being able to score in multiple innings. Thank God the losing streak is over but can we beat the Twins 2 out of 3 this week? That's what we need to get back to doing, winning series, before I'll be convinced we can win the division. Don't forget the sorry ass Cubs had a 9 and a half game lead at the beginning of September in '69. All of Chicago was convinced they we're a sure bet to win the National League, and they blew it. It wasn't a curse, they folded under pressure. I hope we don't do the same. Hold off on playoff match ups for awhile.
  15. QUOTE(Iguana @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) I am of the opinion that KW need to offer what ever he needs to get Griffey. Forget about Griffey, Griffey ain't coming. We are on our own, and it dosen't look good. The fade has begun.
  16. I hate to admit it but I actually do feel a little bit better.
  17. Boy that Crede is the best pop up man I've ever seen
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Let's all remember that Brian Aderson's hit was less important. Because it came with 0 runners in scoring position. :rolly What's important is that we're starting to put hits together instead of swinging for The Sears Tower.

  21. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) TIMO SHOULD NEVER HIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LINEUP AGAIN!!!!!! If Ozzie wants him to bat 8th or 9th fine, but 5th?? Now that's RIDICULOUS. So the guy fills in for an injured player ang gets a single and a double and this is bad why?
  22. Never underestimate Billy Beane and his A's. Oakland has great teachers in their system and I think that's why the young players improve as the year goes on. I said last week I think they will win the west with the Angels getting the wild card. Can they catch us? Only if we continue to lose so many home games like tonight.
  23. Don't worry about Contreras, worry about all of our hitters who are way under their career numbers.
  24. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) Yeah, they could be on TNT too if he wanted considering he owns them both. He doesn't own them anymore. Ted sold all of Turner Broadcasting including The Braves and The Hawks years ago to Time-Warner,which was then bought by AOL.
  25. I don't mind the loss even though I feel bad for Mark. But tonight proved what I've been feeling for awhile; we do not have a closer. Herrmanson was shaky in Anaheim, and not very good last night and horrible tonight. Not to mention the bad outing he had at The Cell last week. Shingo is not the pitcher he was last year, and now we have a real problem.
